I haven't gotten a call yet but I have an offer letter in my CMED online portal thing. Yay?

Oh boy. Good thing you said this. I checked and my offer letter is on the portal as well. No update to communication status though. You would think they did that to notify you of changes in the portal.

Same here -- maybe they wanted to call everyone and just didn't get through them? Congrats, guys!

For those on the waitlist, I hope there's lots of movement and good things come your way!

Could be.

Funny note - did anyone notice on the offer letter that it said for the inaugural class of 2017? We'd be 2018, wouldn't we?

I noticed that too after I realized it said inaugural class and did a quick double take.

Thanks for the heads up on checking the portal, no email but I checked and saw my acceptance letter 🙂

I got waitlisted......

Does anyone know what the waitlist -> rejection/acceptance percentage is? From earlier it seemed like they accepted like 80% of those they interviewed so I'm confused about all these people getting hold emails.

I'm interviewing next month, OOS with strong IS ties and getting nervous about my interview. 😱

Just got the call today, although I had already accepted online. It's official! 😀

80% acceptance rate post-interview? Do you mind sharing where your getting that stat or how your calculating that? I'm right there with ya haha I interview on the 25th OOS, also getting pretty nervous but I'm looking forward to it!

The interviews are super chill, so relax. It was actually pretty fun imo. Makes you critically think a little bit.

No idea, sorry! Maybe someone in their inaugural class could weigh in?

The closest I've seen (as far as this year goes) is this information from their Twitter feed. My best logical guess is that ~20% of those interview invites would be for OOSers.

Admissions Update: Nearly 2000 AMCAS apps, 1142 verified, 975 secondary invites and 92 interview invites.

I'm not sure where this information came from but that's what I was going on...maybe I misunderstood. I hope not, I would love to go to CMU.

the 92 invites was only the beginning. They just finished a 72 group of students on saturday.

Hi there,

Quick question - can we submit more than 3 letters of recommendation?

Thank you.

80% Interview Admissions seems a bit high. USNWR has no data on this school so it's not from there. Even if this statistic is accurate, it probably concerns those who have been already had an II early on. The percentage probably drops as we go later in the cycle. Therefore, the average probably hits anywhere from 40-70% like most schools. Again, the italicized it all speculation!

I very much doubt it's that high. I would expect closer to 30-40% based on their high yield last year.

If it is 80%, that just makes me feel all the more terrible about my hold 🙁

Pretty sure it's not even close to 80%. At the interview they mentioned a figure but i'm not positive what it was. Highly doubt it's more than 50%, but probably less.

Does CMU allow you to update them post-interview?

Any recent II invitations? Was complete 8/28 and haven't heard a word from CMU since.

Could anyone enlighten me as to the interview schedule that they've been doing on Fridays? I'm interviewing on 11/15 and flying standby so I'm wondering if it would be realistic to think that I could fly out the afternoon of the interview from Chicago?

You want to drive from central Michigan to Chicago for a flight that is in the afternoon? Why don't you fly out of a closer airport?

My husband works for Alaska/Horizon so I fly those airlines for free, but on standby so flights on the weekend are way fuller = my chances on getting a flight home goes down. Just wondering what the schedule is and if it would work for me to fly out that evening.

And Chicago is the closest airport with Alaska/Horizon flights.

It's definitely possible but i would shoot for the latest flight out of chicago just to be safe. I drove to Chicago from cmed and it was a long drive. Hit traffic once I got to Chicago

Thanks, what time did you get out of the interview?

Can't remember exactly but it was pretty close to what they suggested as the end time. I wasn't in too much of a hurry to leave so I didn't pay attention to the time. I asked some questions at the end.

Gotcha. Well thanks! 🙂 are you planning to matriculate at CMU or waiting on other schools?

I'm waiting on other schools. Out of state cost plus having only one class ahead of us are pretty big deterrents. Plus it is in the middle of nowhere. But other than that the staff seemed nice like most schools and and facilities were top notch and the best that I saw which is expected since it's a new school.

Thanks and Sure, I am non trad. My undergrad was very average ..3.2 or so, worked in dental clinics last 20 yrs. have couple thousand hours or more of volunteering I didn't put everything. (all over from hospitals and clinics to habitat for humanity to homeowners board and teaching sunday school..) Quit work 2 years ago to attend school full time and took upper lever science courses got 3.9. maybe 25 to 30 credits. Shadowed in a primary care clinic around 500 hours or so by now. What I thought might keep me from being looked at was that I took the mcat and got 25O. (8PS, 9V, 8BS) I have really good letters of rec, strong personal statement and I can't imagine doing anything else. I submitted in early September and feel very lucky that my app was considered.

I hope this helps and GOOD LUCK! We all need it.

Just got an interview invite! I was beginning to think I would never hear from this school. I have had a couple DO interviews, but this is my first MD invite. Super excited!!

Did anyone, who interviewed in october, hear back about decisions yet? they said they will release decisions today for people interviewed in october.

According to their twitter feed they had an AC meeting today... hard to tell if they've sent out decisions since its pretty quiet on here compared to last time.

hopefully they will let us know tomorrow

Does anyone know what the difference between hold and wait list status is. Thanks in advance?

There's a hierarchy as follows:
#1 Acceptance is the best. 😛
#2 Waitlist is okay. A few from the top of the waitlist was accepted last year, and since they're accepting a larger class this year, those on the waitlist likely have a decent chance.
#3 Hold is not so good. They didn't accept anybody off of hold last year. I believe you can go from Hold --> Waitlist, but not directly from Hold --> Accept. I don't think there will be much/any news until after May 15 for those of us on hold.
