Also, where are my manners!?!?
Congrats you guys!
Congrats you guys!
Being that I'm on the waitlist, a couple of questions
1) If I get accepted off the waitlist, could I still defer?
2) Does the waitlist operate off the same quotas as the regular admissions process?
Hahaha I actually "LOL" best of luck!!!I took off work at noon, called the post office and they said my mail carrier is running late today, probably won't be till 3 or 4...
Not gonna lie I've driven all around the neighborhood looking for a USPS truck haha.
Congratulations! You are the first person I have heard of who stalked their mailman to get a packet. That's dedication. Or possibly crazy. Eh, the lines are often blurred with med students anyway. At 5 the mail still hadn't been delivered so I got back in my car and drove around again- found him! Showed him my ID and he grumbled but gave me my packet.
Accepted! Congratulations and condolences to everyone else.
Traditionally, as far as the Facebook group is concerned, an officer in the current M1 class creates it after they get the official list from Linda DuPuy. So.... Hmm. Y'all are on the ball! 🙂 Someone might eventually ask for admin privileges on that group so they can invite everyone else that hasn't heard about it or looked for it. As Bamfu said, it's a great resource for reminders from Ms. DuPuy and is also a great way to find roommate or place to live.
wait list is sent in a big packet. Then what would wait list be in? I wouldn't automatically assume a small later is rejection...
i think it varies year to year. I talked to my premed advisor about it last year cuz i was wait listed. some years there's a ton of movement and all the students that were wait listed from my school got in. other years, there's not as much movement. but typically, it seems like the wait list here does get a lot of movement from what i've heardDoes anyone know the average number of wait listed applicants that get accepted each year?
No, and they won't until they finalize the rural program list and bump those people to the top. That will probably be the 15th at the earliest, maybe a few days to a week later.anybody get pulled yet?
So what's the deal with student parking on campus? Is there any, and if so, what's the best option in terms of price and proximity to where classes are held? Although I plan on living near campus, I probably won't be within walking distance (or at least what I consider walking distance haha).
Bamfu said most of it. The majority of students park in War Memorial or Ray Winder and walk or take the shuttle. It's a little irritating in bad weather/a little sketchy at night if you walk, but the shuttles run reasonably frequently. The other options are to pay for a garage level A, or Lot 1 I think it is, permit and be right next to everything (I have no idea what that costs but several of my classmates do that), get a free permit for Lot 10 (you have to have a sticker to park here and it fills up quick in the mornings, but it is free and closer than Ray Winder/War Memorial), or find parking streetside in Hillcrest next to campus (I do not recommend this but some people do it). There is also a cheap evening/student sticker that people get to park in the visitor section of the A level of the deck next to the library/COPH, but you can't park there until after 4:30pm. If you live in the residence halls there is a very small resident lot that you can buy a permit for, but I hear there's generally a waiting list for that.So what's the deal with student parking on campus? On another note, is there a dress code of any sort for class? Or does everyone just throw away their clothes and wear scrubs?
Would it be possible to get a spot on one of the parking decks? The one that we parked in for our interviews would be nice 🙂
A couple people in my class drive scooters. Little Rock is hilly and Markham has a very loose speed limit (50 is really the same as 35 anyway) so scooters aren't the most optimal transportation if it's your only vehicle (especially this winter), but the free parking by the library does make it almost worth risking life and limb.I lived on campus for weeks last summer- maybe it was because I didn't know the good spots, but parking was a nightmare.
Does anyone use a scooter, or is that just a poor life decision for LR? I remember seeing free 50 cc parking by the library.

That's Parking 2, Level A. They sell permits for the spaces on the other side of that white chain from the visitor/pay per hour parking. Don't know what they cost but you can definitely buy one, though there may be a short waiting list at times. If you have an evening permit you're not allowed to use the pay per hour parking before 4:30pm (after which it is free if you have the permit of course). Well, technically students aren't allowed to use it at all during the day but unless you're in your white coat or scrubs they often don't know and you can slip by and just pay the $7 or whatever if you need to park there for a day. If you've got a student permit sticker or are obviously a student though they can write you a ticket or some such thing. (This is relatively new, I never had to deal with it but have been hearing about/seeing it happen to people lately.)Would it be possible to get a spot on one of the parking decks? They never provide a number. Safe to bet at least 40-50 are on the list. They always make sure there are more on the alternate list than they expect to take. That said, some years there is a lot of movement so don't lose hope!Interviewed for the rural board on Tuesday and just found out I wasn't approved. Anyone else hear back or know how many people got it? Does anyone know how many alternates are on the list this year? Thanks
Okay, I don't know if any alternates are still checking this, but I called Tammy Henson this morning. She said they took 8 people total into the rural program and 1 was already accepted. So 7 people got moved to the top of the list.
So they approved 8 people total for the program. 7 were alternates and 1 person had already been accepted as a student. Hope that helps! So are those 8 people all alternates or did they only accept 8 people (alternates + med students) this year? And thanks for checking!

Thanks for letting us know! I appreciate you not waiting till the last minute 🙂Withdrew my acceptance last week. Good luck guys and hopefully one of you will get my spot! Best wishes everyone!
Okay great! Thanks!I know browsing SDN tends to breed neuroticism at this time but if it helps, 2 of my friends are withdrawing as well. Now we know at least 3 people will be taken off the waitlist this cycle 😛
Is UAMS not publishing their match list?
