2013-2014 University of Colorado Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A friend of mine just mentioned a rejection email from CU as well....aaaaand here comes my old friend med-school-waiting-to-potentially-be-rejected anxiety

Sorry to hear some got rejected today... I hope you have been accepted somewhere else or otherwise waiting to hear back.

If any one following this thread got acceptances or waitlist notifications today please share.

For those of us who are still playing, I wonder if there are any more acceptances to go out or we are just waiting for our waitlist/rejection emails? Sifted through last year's thread and got no clue, as the timeline was totally different. Any thoughts?

Check the 2011-12 thread. Supposedly there were some days where people received rejection, WL, and acceptance notifications on the same day. I'm done doing "admissions research" though as it made me neurotic. Drinking beer and watching The 5th Element is much healthier...

I'll be withdrawing my acceptance here soon. Hope one of you gets my spot!

Still waiting as well. It would suck to wait this long just to get rejected. I know I shouldn't, but I still check this thread every day for news.

Me too. Very hopeful, but it would be helpful to know, either way : )

Called and spoke to the admissions. If we have not heard by now, we are on the waiting list. They will email us in a few weeks telling us of our general (high, or low) position on the waiting list
Well.. better to know I guess. Thanks

Thank you for letting us know.

I am expecting an email soon that says "When we emailed you over two weeks ago to say that we had hoped to have a formal waitlist established in two weeks, we did not mean to imply that we would actually do so in two weeks, or that you would hear anything from us. "Two weeks" is a term used by AMCAS to designate an unspecified point in time in the future. It does not mean 14 days. In two weeks you will receive additional communication indicating the status of your application."

New to this site but following the comments and reassured to hear that so many are in the same situation of just waiting to hear...Ran into an old premed advisor that said that CU was breaking a lot rules by not letting us know our status. I am not sure if this is fact or not but hard to plan my life when so much is in limbo. My calls/emails have not been returned by CU administration so glad to know someone got at least a vague answer.

The admissions committee is so gonna copy and paste this into our next email.

inb4 we get half life 3 before we find out about admissions

I just talked with a very nice fellow at admissions. He said they have sent out all the rejections, so if you have not heard yet you are not rejected. He also said they have not sent out all of the acceptances yet and are still determining their final seats. To echo what someone said above, he also informed me that if/when we receive an email regarding the waitlist, it will include info on our relative wait list position. As an example, he hard it won't say something like "26/80" but will rather say "high probability" or something similar.

He also said they were planning on sending everything out last week, but have been behind and to expect communication in the near future.

I'm glad I called this is the best info I've gotten in awhile. I hope this helps everyone else who feels stuck in limbo!

Has anyone heard of any IS post interview rejections? I'm in state and haven't heard of anyone being rejected post interview. It would be nice if the iS wait list (if they do it that way) is as small as possible!

Thanks for sharing! That's a lot better news than I had anticipated.

This is great - thanks for sharing! Although I'm a bit confused, it seems like people are giving out different information.. Here he said they're not done giving out straight acceptances, but someone above called and was told if we haven't heard anything then we're on the Wait List.. Conflicting information - I'd much rather have this latest be accurate! IS here.. All I want is some home-state love!

IS here too. Thank you for sharing this information! Hopefully we'll hear something by first look day?

I think they mailed out the letters already. From my understanding, we should receive something "very soon."

Just got a letter in the mail informing me I am on the "high alternate list." I live in Denver so if you live further away, I would imagine it might be a day or two before you get your letters.

How strange they did snail mail! Did they have any indication how many groups they lumped people into?

Same here, high alternate via snail mail. One of my friends said she knew somebody who was rejected via snail mail today. Not really sure what to make of it.

Yea it is odd. He told me twice and said with great confidence that I was not rejected if I haven't heard yet. Maybe because I'm IS?

Either way I got the high alternate letter as well. Guess it's not the worst news but more waiting is not what I was hoping for!

Just got my "high Alternate" as well. (IS). Really wondering how many tiers there that we're grouped into! Anyone get something else today?

Anyone know how the waitlist moves at CU? I tried looking online and couldn't get much info.

Also, is anyone here a UCD student? Just curious I may know some of you ISers

I am in Colorado too and have not heard anything at all. Hope it does not mean "low alternate".

If I understood it correctly, I believe that they sent out the waitlist in tiers such that people who were on the "high alternative" received their letters today while those on the "low alternative" will get theirs within these couple days, possibly tomorrow (assuming IS).

Also, I'm a little confused on the purpose of having a "low alternative" waitlist. People who are on the low list can essentially assume it's a rejection, correct?

considering some peole also got rejected today apparently, it's best we dont' assume anything. for all we know, these letters could be sent out in alphabetical order or some other system.

That's true, if one thing I learned from this cycle is that anything can happen.
