Hey everyone,

Is anyone interviewing next friday, Dec 13th? I booked my flight for Dec 12 and I will be in Denver International Airport at 10:28am. I am looking into SpringHill suites. I need help figuring out transportation from the airport to hotel. Any help would be appreciated!

Also, I just noticed that each interview is 30 mins. I thought it was an hr each. Isn't 30 mins a bit too short? How did the interviews go for people that attended the interview already?

thanks!

For me I thought the interviews were extremely short. Both my interviewers also would cut me off in the middle of an answer and ask a completely unrelated question often. I don't know if they were trying to see how I handle pressure or something, or if they were pressed for time so they had to get as many questions in as possible. I can't speak for other interviewees so YMMV.

I took the bus from the airport to just downtown Denver, and would not recommend it to minimize just stress and exhaustion. It's not that complicated, but it's more time consuming than it needs to be, and people got very upset when the bus left 2 minutes later than scheduled due to it being over capacity. That took around 40 minutes, so I'd imagine getting to Aurora via a transfer would take close to an hour and a half. BUT, if money is a huge issue, the bus costs like $11 per trip and (I think) you get a free transfer.

I don't know if taxi vs the shuttle will be the same price, but they are basically your options if you won't have someone who will drive you there for free/splitting gas. Anticipate dropping around another $80-90 for transportation 😛

Also, yes, 30 minutes is pretty short. They have a lot of people to interview that day, so they have to keep shuttling people in and out. I went about 5 minutes over with my interviewer and we had to leave the room so the next person could start. In between the chaos, he was still talking to me as we left the room and he directed me back to the main room. Overall, I still feel like the day was pretty great and they did a great job showing off the campus. Some parts could've been better organized, but they were coordinated by the students and not the admissions people.

Has any one tried to get in touch with the admissions office to change an interview date? I initially accepted mine, but now have an interview the day before in California that I can't change. I have tried calling and emailing to no avail....

I believe the next batch comes out next week (every three weeks)

@Jennyfishy What bus should I take if I wanted to get to SpringHill suite? Would it require a transfer? I don't mind a 40 minute bus ride. Do you suggest anything fun to do while I'm there?

I pulled all my information from the link they send you in preparation for your interview day (http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/c...ions/apply/Pages/InterviewDayInformation.aspx)

You can figure out the route using the trip planner tool on the RTD website: http://www3.rtd-denver.com/elbert/SystemMap/index.cfm#

I took the AF bus from DIA to downtown Denver (market place area) and got picked up from there. I am pretty sure you can take the AF and hop on a transfer from 153 at the airport boulevard bus station area then walk the rest of the way once they hit Colfax... that sounds unnecessarily complicated and it won't actually drop you in front of the spring hill suites area, but a few blocks away, and that's more or less what a lady recommended to me at the airport. The bus drivers are super nice and will let you know when you need to get off if you ask them to get you the closest to the address you're looking for.

By the way, the bus takes cash only, so make sure you bring exact bills + coins!

On google maps, it looks like you can take a route that will get you pretty close, but will involve 2 transfers (AS --> 105 --> 15L). As I was saying, it's doable, but largely inconvenient (although cheap!) --> https://www.google.com/maps?saddr=Denver International Airport (West)@39.8495047876328,-104.67484623634009&daddr=13400 E COLFAX AVE AURORA [email protected],-104.83504666544846&ttype=dep&date=12/11/2013&time=04:39 p&f=d&dirflg=r

If the bus doesn't work out, just pick something from : http://www.flydenver.com/parkinggt

As for fun things to check out - I ate at an awesome restaurant called Root Down (would recommend) and was told to check out the downtown Denver/marketplace area. We were going to go to the 16th street mall, but didn't have enough time. The campus is huge and you won't get to see everything, so if you're interested in exploring, it's beautiful (although freezing) 😀.

There's a Denver Art museum you can check out too (the outside looked really fancy), and as cliche as touristing goes, the state capitol 😀.

I don't know too much about sightseeing in Aurora though 🙁

Can anyone check their status on the web site? I started getting logon errors today even though I have not changed my original password there.

Rent a car for $50 including the extra under 25 fee and call it a day. Its an unnecessary hassle to take 40 min to go these distances. Spring hill suites is like 4 or 5 miles away just north of i70. Having a car will give you the freedom to explore the city as well, and will make you less rushed when you go to interview. But hey to each there own.

But difficult and challenging builds character!

I agree with this since my host's car saved my life, but renting's not necesarily an option for everyone, so im just sharing the resources i came across when I planned my travel itinerary. I didn't have my license when I interviewed (took test after i got back), and def couldnt afford a taxi, for example,

Interviewed mid-November and still waiting to hear back. Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm really really nervous; I would absolutely love to go here.:xf:

I interviewed late-oct. didn't hear anything yet. Probably shouldn't worry too hard though friend. Just load up some Dota and pass the time.

I interviewed back in October and haven't heard anything yet, either. It's still very early in the process, though, so I'm trying to not get too stressed about it. My assumption (as I've written here before) is that the earliest admits will be to students that fit into small sub-groups and programs that will likely be harder to fill late in the process. The bulk of admissions will come at the end of the interview cycle. Better batten down the hatches and get ready for another 3-4 months of not knowing!

I was complete in late September, slightly above average stats, OOS, but I grew up in Colorado and would love to go back. I'm not even a skier, I just adore the neuroscience and virology research. I wish the adcom would take update letters, phone calls, anything.

I interviewed on November 22 and heard back with the acceptance on December 12. I wish everyone else here lots of luck! also check your spam because the email came from some weird email address haha that wasn't recognized and was filtered to spam

Interviewed here this Friday. Absolutely love the school! Amazing hospitals and impressed by the amount of support for medical students.

The interview day was very structured and the assistant dean was very down to earth. The earliest we can hear is 1 to 3 weeks. Only downside is out of state tuition which is $80,000 since I'm from CA.

Hoping to hear soon!

My eyes pretty much fell off my face when they showed us the children's hospital. Unreallll. From the lack of folks reporting on SDN, it seems like even most of thefolks from the earliest groups that interviewed in October have not heard anything. MDapps only shows 2 or 3 acceptances, and about the same number have been reported here. We'll all know for sure by March though, haha -_-;

what's MDapps?

what's MDapps?
Look at Jennyfishy's avatar, on the third line there is a MDApps ID: 27868. You can click on the number and it will take you to a site which has a lot more details about her application. On the same site you can find other statistics per school. All the information comes from people making voluntary updates, so while it is useful, it is not a 100% representation of what is really going on.

Yes you're looking at the right place, but that's the total acceptances ever reported on MDapps. Look at the application cycle (last column(, and you'll see that only 1 is listed from our 2013 cycle (but I've seen 3 listed from individual searches).

ok i got it now. thanks. that 103 number scared me for a second. jenny: i think we interview together oct 28 right??

Indeed we did! 🙂 There were about 50 people on that day though, so I really only had a chance to talk to 10-20 different folks. If you remember meeting anyone by my SDN handle name, we definitely met though 😀

Out of curiosity, has anyone heard back yet for those who have been accepted? I'm mostly talking about the agreement contract and residency information forms.

Congratulations to those with recent IIs! You'll love the school! The day was very structured and the interviews were very conversational. Don't stress! PM if you have any questions!

For those with acceptances, did you get an email or call?

Nope, I've called (left a message) and e-mailed asking for confirmation that they received the forms, but have heard nothing back. Glad it's not just me...

Haha I'm also glad it's not just me! USPS said it delivered two Wednesdays ago, but I've called a couple times and they said they don't have it yet. 🙁
I don't want to keep calling them and be a pain, but I'd like some peace of mind before they leave for holiday!

Just realized we can provide an update letter to interviewers on the interview day. Is this the only means of providing updates to the admission committee or can we email updates to them as well? Thanks!

Once the interview is over, they don't accept updates of any kind
