Haha didn't wake up in time to see that chicago opening. Never been to IL so experiencing Rockford first will be interesting.

What time do those openings get updated each day? I'm OOS and trying to snag a Chicago slot to save time/money..

For those of you with an II, are you considering your complete date to be when you returned your secondary or when your Letters of Rec were marked received?

Thanks!

When filling out your essays, don't copy and paste directly from a word document. It turns your punctuation marks into strange symbols when you preview your application.

It's the third Thursday of the month... adcom meeting today?! :xf:

Has anyone figured out the difference between "applicant in progress" and "applicant in process"? Which one comes first, and which means they are actively reviewing your file?

nope

which one are you?

Progress.
I imagine this one comes first, since I had some trouble with my letters and am just complete today. Just wondering if anyone could confirm this.

I think 'process' and 'progress' are pretty interchangeable, but that could just be wistful thinking on my part . Did you get an email from someone saying your file is complete?

Yup. So I guess that's the important thing. Either way, it's just a waiting game from here on.

for those who have interviewed: i had my interview date scheduled but never any info on time, what building to arrive to, etc. when I scheduled it, it seemed like she said that info would come as the date approached but my interview isn't too far away and i still don't have info. where did you guys get this info?

You get this information via snail mail. Came a few days after I scheduled the interview via phone.

Also, for those who have interviewed: Anyone else's status changed to decision pending? Looking at the flowchart, this may be a hold status :scared:

They can't release acceptances until October 15th so I wouldn't think too much about it. Even then, they might not meet until November to talk about acceptances.

Just curious...is the MSP the same thing as MSTP?

how did the interview go for those who have had it? it's just one interview right? with 1 staff and 1 med student? How long did it last? Was it relaxed/or challenging questions?

a few more questions:

1)does anyone know about the satellite campuses? do you pick what campus or are you assigned? i was just reading on the website about residencies (link below) and it seems like urbana is only family medicine/internal medicine? Is that the only kind of doctors they produce in urbana? If you want to be anything else you have to go to the chicago campus?

2) anyone have any information on the curriculum? does it differ much between campuses? all i can really find is this page but i was hoping for more in depth than that
http://chicago.medicine.uic.edu/dep...grams/doctor_of_medicine_/curriculum__m1_m4_/

i guess i'm trying to formulate "why UIC" but other than being an alum of U of I champaign and the school being close to home It's hard to say why without knowing much about the curriculum and what research opportunities are available

I just got done with my interview so I can shed a bit of light. The whole experience was very positive and relaxed! There were no trick questions asked and my interviewers all tried to make me comfortable. I had 3 interviews in all at the Chicago site (each one was 30 mins) - one with the director of admissions, one with a Ph. D., and one with Graduate Diversity. We were told that our files will probably go to committee next month and we'll get word back by end of Oct. Fingers crossed!! I really hope I can go here.

Is there any way to confirm whether I signed up for the morning session or afternoon session? or am I forced to call the admissions office?

3 interviews!!? holy cow :O

did everyone have 3? It seemed like before i heard somewhere that it was just 1 interview but you'd have 2 people in the room

How many interviews you have, I think, depends on where you interview. My friend interviewed at Peoria last year and had the 2-faculty/doctor panel. She said they were very nice to her 🙂

Has anyone received II lately? And when did you submit?

Hi - does anyone know if University of Illinois OOS sticker price is what students actually pay? Are they good at providing financial aid? Last year their OOS tuition was $74,000/year :0
Unfortunately the state of IL is extremely broke, so there is very little grant financial aid. There are a few scholarships for OOS URM students that reduce tuition to in-state level. Many of our OOS students are on military scholarships, etc.

1a. If accepted, you submit a rank list of the four campuses. A couple of weeks later you get your assignment. People continue to get Chicago spots throughout the year (I got mine in May).

1b. Just because there are not residency programs at certain hospitals does not mean there are not physicians practicing that specialty. In all of the campuses you will get the required exposure to IM, surg, ob/gyn, peds, family med, psych + specialties. Chicago (and Peoria) have more options with regards to specialties you can do rotations in. However, it's pretty easy to do M3/M4 electives in Chicago as a student from one of the other campuses.

2. Better curriculum guide. Per LCME requirements, the curriculum at each site will be pretty similar.

Happy to answer any other questions.

Seems like it's been pretty quiet lately- anyone hear anything?

UIC just received my primary today, hope I'm not too late in the game, really want to attend here!

Just Got my II today

IS 3.8/33 complete 8/15/2013

Would someone be able to point me to a post explaining the differences between the different interview sites (Rockford vs. Chicago vs. Peoria vs. Urbana). I tried to search but could not find this.

I travel from Chicago to St. Louis frequently so distance is not a problem.

Status updated to decision pending, interviewed last week.

hey everyone, I'm Josh, an M2 at UIC-chicago. feel free to email me with any questions [email protected] or if you need help getting a place to stay for an interview-I can always offer you a place in my bed/on my couch but several of my classmates who might have more favorable set ups also volunteer 🙂 good luck everyone, its been the best year and change of my life so far

p.s. you'll have much better luck of me catching your questions over email-I don't check my messages on here but once a month maybe

anyone have the MSAR data for acceptance rate post interview?

for matriculation rates post interview, out of 599 instate who interviewed 230 matriculated, which is a 35.19% matriculation. considering they accept more than they matriculate youre probably looking at 50-70% accepted

for OOS. out of 298 who interview, 85 matriculate for 28.52% matriculation. again probably around a 50% acceptance if general anecdotal evidence holds true.

Does anyone know if I can submit my application with one behavior science left blank? I only took two, but if they review applications regardless then I can just take a course before I matriculate.I am not sure if anyone contacted them about this or knows this from another source. Let me know what you think... thanks!

This sounds like a good question for UIC admissions. Maybe try calling them?

First paragraph seems clear to me but if you are concerned, give them a call.

Is this how often the admissions committee meets? That means there isn't another meeting until the 17th 🙁

Yup, but the first meeting of the year is on the 17th. They didn't in Sept
