2013-2014 University of Illinois Application Thread

Does anyone know if the strikes at UIC are delaying the adcom from meeting today?...Are they even meeting today?

The Sun-Times reported that the strike doesn't include professors from the school of medicine so I would assume things will go as planned. And yes, they are supposed to meet today.

When are the next round of decisions supposed to come out?

any status changes yet for people that recently interviewed?

Does anybody know when the last ADCOM meeting was? And how soon afterwards do u see a status change on average?

Adcom supposedly met yesterday (3rd thursday of the month) and they generally update statuses the same day. They told us at the late jan interviews that we should have decisions by end of feb but i'm still at decision pending 🙁

I have a feeling they didn't meet based on the lack of posts here.

Hey there,

Has anyone who interviewed for the MSTP earlier in February heard back yet? I don't remember anyone mentioning a time line for the decisions and whether they would be via email or snail mail. It seems like earlier interviewees heard back within a week and a half.

Best of luck to everyone!

who here is still "applicant in progress" since Summer? people are getting accepted/interviewed/rejected after me but still nothing for me yet.

This may be a question for current students, but how accessible is research at nearby institutions (Rush for example) as a medical student at UIC?

I was "applicant in progress" until late January before getting an interview, and I submitted in early July. They are really taking their sweet time, but are still interviewing people.

I interviewed in Chicago mid-November and have been "Decision Pending" since. I've also applied to the UMed program and know that the deadline is approaching (in March). Does anyone know whether being "Decision Pending" this long usually means a waitlist? Or are they maybe waiting for me to come in for a second interview for UMed before they make a decision? Any thoughts/intel would be appreciated.

What are one's chances of an acceptance post interview? (in state) ..Does anybody have the numbers?

Hmmm they're rolling so do I doubt that number would be very meaningful.

Did the adcom not meet this week? anyone know where I can find out whether or not they met or when they are going to meet next?

Received merit scholarship notification this weekend. Anyone else get one after being accepted?

The adcom meeting supposedly took place; I called thursday morning to make sure that the strike at the undergrad campus wasn't going to affect med school admissions. My status hasn't changed yet, it may be because they haven't gotten around to updating them online OR they might be backed up on last months batch and we will be reviewed at the next meeting (third thursday of the month).

Hey guys, check your statuses. I just checked mine and it was finally updated this morning. Phew. Got that "Additional Correspondence" tab.

Additional Correspondence! Interviewed January 29th. Still keeping an open mind though, just in case I'm one of the few people to get the tab and yet get the small envelope

Yeah they did meet and the status were updated today morning!

Very true that probably is a strong possibility because they have a huge pile of applicants and would want to smaller pool of applicants... This process is stupid

I interviewed 2/06 and it still says "decision pending". I'm going to wait until 5pm for my status to update, but i'm guessing I was put on a post interview hold? Is this common?

For those of you who see the Additional Correspondence in the upper right corner of the page, is it clickable? I see it on my page but there's no "tab" that is clickable.

A final decision was made on your application on 02-24-14. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

Hopefulmed1, that's the right thing. Congratulations!

It's just a text box. I think that's how it's supposed to be based on some of the previous discussion about the additional correspondence tab.

Anyone know how reliable getting the additional correspondence tab is?

Anyone from the late January-mid February Chicago interviews have a status update this morning?

I interviewed on Feb. 13, got nothing so far. Hopefully by the end of the day I'm updated.

2/07 and nothing yet

I was told that we should hear back before the end of the month. But I guess they do what they want to do

It's not the end of the month yet!
I think that if you don't hear back today, we will have to wait till next months meeting. I looked at last year's thread and there were several people who were left with "decision pending" while others received a decision. Those without decisions received an email a few days later saying that they will be reviewed in the following month(s)

I interviewed in december and it took three adcom meeting for my status to change from decision pending to additional correspondence tab... Hang in there guys... i know how much it sucks!! and i still dont even know if i was accepted or denied and will have to wait until i get the fat packet or thin envelope

THIS PROCESS SUCKS!!!!

Status change today to "final decision" with "additional correspondence" tab: 02/24

Interviewed: 01/10
