So I've been complete since 7/9 and still haven't heard anything from BU....what am I supposed to make of this?

Please tell me that you filled out every aspect of your application in character: personal statement, activities, secondaries etc!

Personal Statement: I am Lord Stannis Baratheon, First of his name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm. All ADCOMs must strike their banners and bend the knee for the one true king of Westeros.

"Describe Yourself": Davos Seaworth saved our lives by smuggling food to our cause during the siege of Dragonstone. I granted him a lordship, but severed his fingers for his crime of being a smuggler.

ECs:
- First of his name *
- King of the Andals
- Also King of the First Men
- Lord of the Seven Kingdoms *
- Protector of the Realm *
* = most meaningful experiences

Lord Davos Seaworth is a man of humble birth, but he reminded me of my duty, when all I could think of was my rights. I had the cart before the horse, Davos said. I was trying to go to Boston University to become a doctor, when I should have been trying to become a doctor to go to Boston University.

This is probably one of the greatest things I have ever read! Really soothes the nerves of not hearing back from any schools yet. Literally on the floor in tears laughing... Had I been a member of BU's adcom, I would've accepted you pre-interview!

Rejected. Complete 8/7. Reapplicant: waitlisted last year with a 3.7/34.

Rejected today (10/1), complete 8/5, LizzyM 77. So sad, I liked BU! But you win some you lose some, so congrats to those with II and those in the running!

Rejected, complete 8/12. Damn I didn't think I would be getting an email this late in the evening! Oh well...time to cry myself to sleep :'(

Another reject here. Secondary submitted 8/13. Rejected 10/1. OOS, LizzyM 73-74. Apperantly I'm doing something wrong since I'm only getting rejections at this point. Even penguin power couldn't save me.

I feel ya. Similar stats, great ECs and nothing but rejections so far from everywhere but my state school. Stay strong!

Terrified about hearing back from Boston, I submitted around the same time as everyone who's hearing back, but I've heard nothing so far. Other than that email saying that they haven't had the chance to take action on my app yet. But that was 3 weeks ago...

what do you think about sending in a secondary at this point... is it worth it? my "LizzyM" is 1 point below their average and I have no research. I already threw in an application to Georgetown and it seems like BU and Georgetown applications go hand in hand.

If you submit asap you maybe ok..its a bit late but this process is a crap shoot. Male sure you write solid essays

Go.for it. This process is a crap shoot. But submit it ASAP

Completed august 6. Still waiting for rejection

Spoke to admissions today and just a fyi for those who are waiting to hear back, all interview spots for this year have been filled, and they are now scheduling January interviews.

Thanks for sharing! Has anyone had a January II sent out yet?

does bu then not have any silent rejections? i.e. we can either expect to get an interview or a rejection sometime soon?

Correct, at least to my understanding. BU seems to be very good about informing people of their decisions and keeping them up to date. I don't know which is worse, the actual pain of rejection or being strung along without knowing you've already basically been rejected.

Definitely being strung along, in my opinion haha. Still sitting here, complete since 7/9, and no word. Anyone else? LizzyM 75.

So long Boston! I had a small amount of hope after surviving so many rejections... but they went back and found me hehe.

Complete 7/21, OOS, Lm 70

We are definitely being Strung along... LizzyM 75, complete 7/22 and nada.

I'm sorry to hear that. You and I have similar stats so I'm not feeling too hopeful.

Hey Ecologyman or : )), did you get a "I'm sorry we're taking so long" email? I'm trying to figure out what that email means...

I think you may have been misinformed...I just got an interview invite today and scheduled it for late October. There were two options and they were both before the end of the year.

I had to call to reschedule my interview and they gave me the option of either next week, or the next opening wasn't until the beginning of January...

I think all of this interview stuff is very situational. I'd have to believe the adcom would want to balance out demographics and types of applications for each interview day, so some people may be offered different times/dates than others. In the end, I wouldn't sweat it as it probably has no bearing on your application.

Just rejected. Complete 8/21. OOS. Reapplicant. Lizzy M 70+

I've been complete since 7/24 and haven't heard anything (aside from the 'it's taking longer than expected' email).

Hey 4malit,
I did get that email! I would bet it means they think we are good candidates, but they want to see if there are better candidates than us. Probably some sort of pre-interview wait list. That or they sent it to everyone and it means nothing other than than they need more time to review applications.

Hey everyone, just got back from my interview so I figured I'd post some insights here.
Interview day consisted of a speech from the Dean of Admissions, a single one-on-one interview with a faculty member who sits on the board of admissions, a couple group meetings with faculty members, lunch with 1st and 2nd year students, tour with 3rd and 4th year students, curriculum overview, and a wrap up session with the Dean. Everyone was extremely nice and made me feel very comfortable. Interview itself was very conversational, asked broad questions such as why medicine, and tell me a little about yourself. No trick questions! Overall a pretty smooth interview day.
Hope this helps!
