Can any current student comment on the curriculum at Duke? How does condensing basic science into 1 year affect STEP1 preparation? Was it manageable to learn two-year material within one year?
 
^Seconded. I would be interested in hearing about this as well.
 
Probably a silly question, but if we select the PCLT track, are we still considered for the regular MD track as well? Thanks.
 
I'm a re-applicant but first time applicant to Duke. What are everyone's thoughts about using my failing to get into medical school for the most humbling prompt?

I'm concerned that 1) It may appear arrogant/I haven't had many humbling experiences if failing to get into medical school is my most biggest one, and 2) I'm bringing light to the fact I'm a re-app when they otherwise wouldn't know (But they could probably figure it out if they scrutinized my app).
 
Has anyone found proof of their fee payment? I'm having trouble finding payment info in my supplemental app, or in my email.
 
Finally submitted the secondary! Took me almost 3 weeks, but feels so good to be done! Later today I'll submit the beast of a Vanderbilt secondary and then I finally have some time to catch up on the other secondaries. Can't wait to have them all done!

it appears that @teefero chose PCLT track, slightly different essays
 
Does anyone know if Duke is receptive to in-area emails? I am going to be home for a week at the end of august and was wondering if it would be worth emailing them to let them know. Although, I'm not sure they even start interviews by that date.

That's exactly what I did. I went back and changed to M.D. and they changed. So I went ahead and stuck with the PCLT track because it is interesting to me. I hope I did not write anything contradictory on my essays. I am afraid to look.
 
my current application status (submitted this secondary over a week ago) is

Application Status: Application Screening - Your supplemental application has been completed. Your application is now being reviewed by a set of independent screeners on our admissions committee.

however, the thing is, my LORs are not in. is duke one of the schools that will extend IIs without LORs? i just want to know whether im at the same stage as those who have submitted the duke secondary and also have their LORs in (aka are complete)

Yes I believe it was stated earlier that lors are not considered until after your interview
 
So my friend submitted her secondary last monday and got an II two nights ago. I submitted mine last Tuesday. If i were gona get one, should I have gotten it already?

I was just thinking the same thing. Last year, interview invites went out mid August.
 
Yep, she said she got one. Were both Duke graduates. When did u guys submit ur secondaries
 
Just finished writing this secondary, I haven't been this happy in a long time. I'm itching to submit it asap just so I don't have to worry about it anymore, but will give it one more read through.

I applied MSTP/MD. The essays aren't too bad, in my opinion. I think it really depends on what you want more. The question I ask myself is whether I would attend the school as MD only.

For anyone else who selected the PCLT track - at first I could have sworn our two extra essays had a character limit, but when I'm looking back they do not? Am I delusional?

UPDATE: here, at least, it says 150 words max? but I don't see that on the online app - am I blind

I submitted my secondary, and my responses were significantly over 150 words. It didn't try to stop me though. Maybe just use 150 words as a guideline?

yeah, I copy/pasted a huge block in to see if it would have a limit, but nope. I'll call tomorrow to confirm!
 
I got it via email, I submitted the secondary on the weekend of the 4th of July I think, I haven't kept track.
 
oh ok great! my friend who submitted on the 14 said she got an II over a week ago....liar
