Does anyone know how long the Duke interview day is? I'm trying to book a return flight and I'm not sure if I should just stay in the area until the day after the interview (just to play it safe)
 
Sigh... this is one of my dream schools. LizzyM of 65-70 though. Maybe my research and experiences can make up for that.

I will hold out hope until they reject me. I'm definitely considering the penguin avatar.

Haha I dk man, I didn't think I would get an invite. I don't have much research experience at all and I don't have a penguin avatar lol But def excited to interview here!! Just try to read or do something to occupy your time so you don't stress out. Reading has helped me. Best of luck to you and everyone else waiting to hear back! I hope good news comes soon!
 
When were you all complete? (most recent IIs)
 
Just got an email from the admissions director after getting an II a while ago... almost had a heart attack thinking it was going to be informing me that my invite was a mistake. Turns out it was just about the student host program. Mental crisis averted.

But seriously, congrats! Surgical Penguin! Now I just imagine a giddy penguin and how cute is that! It's comforting to know that not all people have a 1 day turn around speed.

I just submitted the secondary application. I feel great after completing it, getting an interview from Duke would be surreal. Congratulations to those who have received IIs and good luck to those who are in the preliminary step.
 
Interview invite, LizzyM ~77. Best part of my week so far! (Although it's distracting me from other secondaries for sure.) Complete ~7/25.

Is there anyone who doesn't yet have an II, but has a status other than: "Application Screening - Your supplemental application has been completed. Your application is now being reviewed by a set of independent screeners on our admissions committee."?

Almost 6 weeks after receiving my secondary, finally submitted! Congrats to everyone with II's and hopefully I'll be fortunate enough to join the crowd soon enough 🙂
 
:happy: Congrats on the recent invites!!! Duke is one of my top choices (maybe even the top choice)... we have a pretty long history dating back to when I was a Duke TiP member as a kid. Eagerly awaiting an interview from here after submitting the secondary 1 day after its reciept... way back on July 3! OOS LizzyM of 74.5 and an upcoming graduate degree (so lots of research). Good luck to all those waiting for a Duke II! :luck:

Hey guys,

Congrats on applying to Duke. I am an MS1 that just started here. Let me say that Duke was the biggest surprise on my interview trail. I chose to come here over other places for a reason and you will see why. The secondary is worth it! If you get offered an II, take it! The curriculum, people, facilities, etc. are the some of the best in the nation (if not the best). The match list last year was insane and Durham is a great place to live. I moved from a big city and love it here. You can't beat it.

I'll be happy to answer any questions ya'll might have. Otherwise I hope to see you all on interview day.
 
I got II just now. I never expected to get one from here so I don't know what I feel right now...... It was my first undergrad rejection lol! Completed early July I think, around the 5th? Current interview dates are all in October Mondays and Thursdays, only 4 available.

Are the dates spread out? Or are they only at the end of October

Seriously how did you find such perfectly abstractified penguin to use as avatar? Did you painted it yourself? I'm very impressed.

And I wish my art skills were remotely that good! I just used google 😛
