Complete the same day. I think FSU is inviting their undergrads first.

dang. i wonder why i haven't heard anything then. My gpa and mcat are the same. I've been on missions trips, obtained a masters in medical sciences from USF, have been volunteering in hospitals in rural and urban settings since 14, have shadowed lots of physicians and am now working as a medical scribe in the ER- tons of clinical exposure. i just don't get it.

It could be that they're taking a look at their undergrads first? You seem like a shoe in, so I wouldn't be too worried, they're known for taking longer than usual.

My interview is Monday, the afternoon session!

Secondary submitted 7/30/14
App complete/under review 8/22/14
Invited for interview 10/27/14

Interview tips are always appreciated! What kinds of questions did they ask?

+6! Hoping this is the month

I interviewed 10/27 and they told us we would hear this week but I don't remember if they specified which day. Anyone from 10/27 on here remember?

I interviewed on 10/24 and just want me results already! I know the committee meets on Tuesdays and from what I've read from other people's posts I think we should expect our emails between Wednesday and Friday.

But I still check my email 100 times a day....

Does anyone know if I took a month to send back my secondary if my chances of getting in are really bad? Mcat 32, gpa around 3.5, clinical experience, fsu undergrad.

Please help I am so stressed about this!

lol RC813 some of us just want to know an II decision XD

haha I know I know, keep your head up its still really early. Especially for FSU they aren't interviewing a ton of people each day.

I took about a month to get my secondary in after I got it because I was waiting for my MCAT score and moving and stuff like that. I think you'll be fine. Your GPA is right at their average for last year and MCAT is waaaaay above their average. Plus they like FSU undergrad. I think you'll get your interview eventually

I'll have to lay out quite a bit of info since I'm a weird case, but my question is essentially - how open to strange cases is the ad com and is there any chance they will give me an interview invite without too long of a turnaround despite me taking until Oct 28th to get my secondary completed. I don't have too much of an excuse other than that I was distracted by traveling and moving to Germany. I am a reapplicant who applied for 2013 (turned my secondaries in even later that time, but did manage to get an interview and wait listed at UT in Memphis) and then did not apply last year. I do not have a GPA because I went to New College of Florida, which is basically pass/fail with narrative evaluations. The ad com is familiar with NCF and had me supply my evaluations for my prerequisites, which should work in my favor because that's something like 12 pages of me looking pretty good. I am in state and my MCAT score 12/11/12. I just worked as a tutor and a strange but great gig as a personal assistant for the first year out of school, but now I am a master's student at the University of Munich. I'm studying genomics here and interested in primary care/personalized medicine. The program is in English, but I am pretty good at German now and should be fluent by the time I finish. It is a two year program and I'm intending to seek a deferral if I get accepted so I can finish up here. I decided to continue with my application this cycle because I had already sunk so much money into the primary before I got accepted here and crossing the pond for interviews (which I really want to do for the chance to see the family anyways) will be a lot easier this year than during my thesis crunch. So yeah, all that. Think I might still get an II soon/at all?

Applying to medical school sure is stressful! Good luck all

I have no idea how US med schools look at not having a GPA, but with a 35 MCAT you definitely can diminish some doubts about not having a GPA. You definitely are a unique applicant with different experiences which is crucial to stand out. There are people who submitted their secondaries in July/August who are still waiting to hear back. I'm not sure how FSU reviews apps, but you definitely should be prepared to wait for a few months as this cycle is crazier than ever before. Of course you can get a II tomorrow, nothing is guaranteed in this process. But don't be discouraged if you don't hear anything immediately!

To those of you stressing out, a bit of pep talk 🙂

If you feel they don't like you because you applied later, it's not because they are mad at you, there are just more apps ahead of you that need reading so be patient. If your app is within their mission you have a good chance of getting an II

On that subject, FSU is very unique, as I am sure you have all heard before, in that they do not care about your GPA and MCAT more than your personal statement, experiences, and secondary app. So if you are a well balanced applicant i am sure you will be fine. My best advice for ppl who have done well academically is not to use your GPA and MCAT as a reason for them to accept you, make it your personality.

Also, don't beat yourself up if you read some of these applicants' exceptional experiences, and feel your experiences don't measure up. It's about what you gain from your experiences and how you present it to them. In fact, some of the more humble experiences are more interesting to listen to, in my opinion, because the presenter doesn't sound arrogant while talking.

Lastly, if you do get an interview it was probably the most relaxing interview I ever had, and I get pretty nervous during interviews. So good luck, feel free to ask me questions.

I just hope I actually fit their mission. They are the reason I am signing up for biochemistry. But I have decided if I don't hear anything by Jan, they prob don't want me.

I'm a reapplicant. I was not even offered an interview last cycle, but my friend was interviewed in April and accepted the same month. Don't lose hope.

Waitlisted... 🙁
3.4 GPA
30 MCAT (10/10/10)
FSU undergrad/in state

Anyone know how the actual wait list process works?

I was wait listed last year. Basically you're on edge for the rest of the year lol. I sent in a couple updates but only about 30 people get removed from the waitlist and get accepted but usually it's at the very end of the cycle. I found out I was officially not accepted may 1 and was interviewed october 4. Don't lose hope though! Send updates

Hey so I was complete 9/12 and still waiting for that II... 🙁 Are there others that were complete around the same time and still waiting?? Its been two months and this is actually my top choice!

Mine was complete 8/22 and got II on 11/3, so it takes a while :/

I got into LECOM, but I would really like FSU to give me a response before I have to pay for the deposit. Once I deposit, Im not going back on it

Accepted! So excited. Complete 9/5. Interview 11/14. MCAT 26, P9, V8, B9. Non-traditional student. Overall GPA 3.65, sGPA 3.8, second bachelor's GPA 3.9. Tons of research, Medical scribe, some shadowing and volunteering. Good luck!

I haven't heard anything back from here, and this is one of my top choices! Do you think it would be too much/too early to send in a letter of intent?

Interviewed here 11/21. From other posts it seems like other applicants have been hearing back about a week and a half or 2 weeks post interview. However, does anyone know if there are any delays due to thanksgiving break? the anticipation is killing me!!
