Wow kind of wondering why I haven't gotten a rejection yet from Tulane give that your stats are a lot better than mine and I completed my secondary the day before you. At least with those stats you will probably get in somewhere.

rejected yesterday, complete June 2

EDIT: Nontrad, lo uGPA, +3.8 gradGPA, 33 mcat.... really wanted to go to this school

From the student hosting sign-up page... :=|:-):

"Applicants usually hear from us within a week with the contact information for your host, please do not be concerned if we do not email your right away. It can take time to match you with a host."

It kind of sucks that if you aren't getting a host you won't know until a week before, when it would be much harder/more expensive to get a hotel...

It seems like they really want you to use the student host. However, they also want you to explore the city. I have a Friday interview, so I am flying in on Wednesday and leaving Sunday. I am trying to decide if I should check out of the hotel, stay with a student for the night before the interview, and then just check back into the hotel afterwards. Do you think it would be a mark against me not to stay with a student?

How did you get the impression the school really wants you to use their hosts? Depending on your financial situation, I would try to interact/stay with a host as much as possible. It's nice to get a student's opinion on the city and tips/pointers like others have said. It would not be a mark against you but I think it would take away from your experience.

Just looking for some insight here, so don't jump down my throat.. I'm extremely grateful to be interviewing here
I was just wondering if it's completely terrible to call to reschedule an interview if it isn't because of a conflict with another interview? I just really wanted to be able to spend a few days to get a feel of what New Orleans is like, but with my current date, I wouldn't be able to stay as long. If I move it, I'd also have someone to travel with me to cut costs and have some company to explore the city. Would it reflect really negatively on me to call and ask, but say how I'm still very interested and would happily come on the scheduled date etc. etc.

At Tulane I believe to reschedule you must withdraw your interview slot and then attempt to re-sign up for another date. This would be heavily disadvantageous to you here because the available dates are now in January.

Just from this line in the II email, "You are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity as it will assist you in determining whether Tulane is right for you." I don't think I will be doing it, since I am heading down on Wednesday and leaving Sunday.

Did anyone else get the "preliminary rejection" status in their portal a few weeks ago, then it disappeared and you never got a rejection email? I mean I'm not hopeful at all, and I assumed that I was rejected, but now it seems that people are receiving actual rejection emails whereas I never got one.

Yep same thing happened to me. No email so far either.

I'm in the same boat. I always took it as, "you're on the back burner for now, if we have spots open up for interviews we'll revisit your app" type of deal. definitely wanting something to come of this, though. tulane is definitely a top contender for me.

If you are arriving on Wednesday for a Friday interview, you will have an incredible opportunity to take the pharmacy museum tour on Thursday at noon.

http://www.pharmacymuseum.org

It will blow your mind the state of medicine 200 years ago (lead nipples for children! needles so big you have to stitch the wound afterwards!), and give you a dose of humility about the modern medicine you will be learning in 2015.

Awesome! Definitely will check it out! Thanks!

🙁 rejected. complete 7/11

4th rejection now

Rejected this morning. 3.7/36 OOS. I really liked Tulane too, and I loved what I learned about the school while writing the "Why Tulane?" secondary, but I guess it wasn't reciprocal...

looks like they sent out a wave of them this morning.. also rejected 🙁 tulane was one of top choices

Rejected finally, about 20 minutes ago! Received a preliminary rejection followed by back to under review a few weeks back. LizzyM = 70, complete 7/22.

Second rejection is as many days. Oh well life go on I suppose. Good luck to everyone else!

If they rejected this many SDNers today, they clearly sent out ALOT of rejections overall today.

Or maybe they just targeted us? Is it the penguin avatar??

First rejection, bummer. Wanted a reason to visit New Orleans! Oh well, had a much more positive start to application season than I expected so can't be too bummed. Good luck to all in the running still!

FWIW 3.75, 36 OOS.

Also rejected today. Have heard no good news so far, starting to worry...

Also rejected. It's okay; I almost didn't apply here but I decided, "why not?" It's not the end, guys. There's still light at the end of the tunnel. My stats weren't great, but I have received 2 interview invites so far, so all hope is def. still there.

for those who were rejected, did your portal change to "preliminary reject" a few weeks ago?
