2014-2015 University of Arizona Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
COM has slightly different academic calendar. They started last week (1/5 was right) - makes it impossible to line up spring break plans because they all fall on different weeks depending on the year. I think someone mentioned earlier they just went under review so hopefully you'll hear something soon. Maybe even tomorrow? Hoping for good things for everyone.

Well doesn't look like today guys...usually they send acceptances and stuff in the early morning don't they?

Well...IDK. When I received notifications from Tucson (pre-interview hold and the interview invite), I received them in the evening. It's unpredictable though... we just have to be patient.

What do you mean--a post interview hold email or an acceptance email?

Or do you mean they responded to an email of yours?
I've already been accepted; they were just sending those of us accepted an update on when to expect things (e.g. the student website and Second Look)

Anybody interviewing on Saturday that would like to split the costs on a double occupancy room in a hotel nearby? Also,
anyone care to share some advice on transportation to UA from the airport? Is uber popular in Tucson?

Is anyone aware of having success requesting an interview change date? Something came up for me next week where I really cannot travel to Tucson next week...

Just call and see. That's your only option. The admissions folks are nice people--you won't be villified for inquiring.

Thank you very much! I really hope to see you there as well 🙂 Hopefully some good news will go out this week...I could really use some 🙂

So, when is the next "decision day" predicted?

Interviewing 2/8. For the MMI, is it a one-on-one interview or a panel?

I'm well aware that it is a common tradition among med schools. I just personally think that these videos tend to be arrogant. Look how special and cool I am because I'm a medical student. Being a physician is a privilege IMO, not something to brag about.

If you Google MMIs, it will be similar. Multiple stations (rooms), different scenarios in each.
Yeah I know how the MMI generally works but I was curious to know if we are talking one on one to a single person in each room or several and if their is much conversation typically...that kind of stuff

Don't run for Student Government then--they all put it on.

Edit: Be glad you're coming here if you don't like arrogance. It's probably only 25% of your class versus a private school (or Phoenix 😛)
Ha it's put on by the student government? I would be interested in being involved in that as long as I didn't have to do something as degrading as these "films"

You realize it's meant to be funny, right?

This is why we can't have nice things.

It's a conversation. You answer the prompt, and then there are several follow up questions after. If you finish early, then your interviewer might make small talk instead, which is what happened to me at several stations.

Be prepared for 1 person in the room or multiple. Ultimately, it doesn't change things for you at all.

I agree with Cutter. I think this represents some of the worst of what our population has to offer. It has "Entitlement" written all over it.

I saw one a while back that a Canadian school did that actually was lighthearted, introspective, and genuinely creative.

From what I've seen, Vanderbilt has a much more comedic take on the vids, true entertainment...like SNL.

Sheesh. It's been over a month since my last "you have not been selected at this time" email. Any ideas on when the next round will go out? I just can't wait for my 7th acceptance update.

I'm in the same boat as you. I was hoping to hear soon but I'm not so sure.

What's the chance of actually getting accepted here after 5+ rounds of not making the cut, like do you know of any success stories? Also, any idea when they start rejecting post-interview?
