2014-2015 University of Arizona Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm rather inclined to think we won't hear anything till at least Wednesday. This wait is such a struggle.

Someone in the know told me that everyone should hear back by April 9th. That's when the final decisions go out.

Also, there are about 40 open spots left.
That pretty much jibes with what I heard a week or two ago.

Do the 40 open spots include the waitlist?

Looks like it might be time to start looking at the re-app plan...

Hi guys! does anyone know if UACOM have a 100% match rate this year? I saw an article but it didn't say it explicitly so I thought I'd check

Feb. 28th

Don't give up yet. Definitely come up with a back up plan, but even Feb 7th people haven't heard yet, so the lack of news is neither a good nor a bad thing for us at this point. It just is. 🙂 I know this waiting really sucks, but just remember you're not alone. And even if we don't get accepted this upcoming acceptance week, there's still a bit of hope for the WL. 🙂

No one who interviewed in February 7th or later should be any more anxious now than at the time of the interview. They told us that an equal number of spots were held for each interview date so that there's no better chance of matriculation based on interview date alone.

Like people above me said, seeing how us Feb 7th folks haven't heard back yet, that means they still have all the spots for those two dates open as far as we should be concerned. No reason to freak out until later this week when people who interviewed feb 7th start posting re: acceptance/deferal. And if you interviewed on the 28th, then you shouldn't get anxious until people from that interview date start posting here. Earlier spots filling doesn't have an impact on your chances and neither presumably will it affect one's position if placed on the waitlist.

Ugh...just purchased new MCAT studying materials. 🙁 Such a juxtaposition of feelings...preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best.
Don't you dare lose that hope though!

I took the damn thing 3x and applied for the third time this year and got a bunch of interviews and acceptances!

Just keep on truckin'...

I did the same thing as you. I feel you about this, I wish U of Az wouldn't string us out for months about our application status, and would just make a decision of waitlist/accept/reject after they review our apps post-interview. Most schools do this, so I don't get U of Az's reasons for the way they do this.

Hope isn't completely lost yet...lol I think I'll actually feel better once I start studying cause I will be the one in control again. 3rd times the charm for me too possibly, plus I think the new MCAT plays to my strengths.

Seriously. I was rejected rolling admissions at another school earlier this cycle, but at least I knew where I stood.

I agree. I know they accept around 200 applicants and that number does not include any waitlisted applicants.
Don't want to be a Debbie Downer but I think they accept 200 total( including the waitlisters). I believe they accept approximately 170-180 right off the bat. Good luck to you. This wait truly sucks.

I think you might be right. Either way I'm anxious to hear back!

Got another hold email just now.... prepping myself for the next cycle for sure.

Interviewed February 7th and got my first hold email today. I know it's probably the only one I'll see before the WL is compiled, but even a single one feels like I got punched in the face really hard. :/

It seems like everyone from the Feb. 7th interview date just received the update email. Does anyone know someone who received an accepted/rejected letter from that date?

There are no rejections yet. I believe we all get rejected at the same date post-interview (sometime in early/mid april).

Oh ok thanks for the heads up. That must be the April 9th date I was told about.

December 6th interviewee here finally joining the thread. Received my 3rd hold email today. Yeah... this wait has been brutal. It'll be nice to finally put all of my endless speculation to rest in the coming weeks.

I'm glad that we have a place like this to vent - none of my family and few of my friends can really understand the psychological toll that repeated BS "you're still being considered" emails take. My present-self is just glad that my past-self scheduled an MCAT retake and got my ECs organized despite my II euphoria high back in September. What a bizarre admissions process. The only people who should still be waiting for word April - June are those who are actually on an official waitlist. 😕🙁

And then if you are "lucky enough" to be waitlisted, you get to enjoy a even more anxiety ridden wait with a glimmer of a hope. And yet, I still slight hope to be on it... I've got it! Applying to med school is like being in a bad relationship lol

A really bad relationship! One where you are so into the person, but the other party just does not seem to have the same feelings for you:-/

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

For those of us who interviewed on Feb 7th do you guys think this "update email" is basically a rejection?

waiting for U of A to give me a real decision like

Do you all think you would feel the same way if they just made you wait without an email notification?

I think the transparency is kinda nice actually. Although that email subject line near killed me the first time I got a hold email

I agree the transparency is nice, but it would be nice if they did rolling rejections too. I'm sure they have a pretty good idea of candidates that are not within range of who will be accepted/wait listed, especially at this point.

When they say "round of acceptances" does that include everyone from every interview group except the last interview group?
