For those of us that received the "Greetings!" email a week ago or so, I just called and they told me that we can expect preliminary rejections soon. Dun dun dun...

I can't say this raises my hopes at all...

Any suggestions for a hotel to stay at? Cheapest ride from the airport (CVG)?

The Marriott is within walking distance from the health sciences building but kinda costly at 110/ night with triple A

Check out the Holmes on Eden and get the interview discount (< $50 if I recall correctly). It used to be a hospital floor now converted into a place for guests to spend the night. It's not "Marriott"-quality but it's literally a 30-second walk to the interview and there's free breakfast (UC doesn't offer any - only the MMI interviewers get coffee and bagels, sorry guys).

I was there the last night that the Holmes on Eden was available. It is being converted to something else. Too bad--it was the perfect place to stay!

I noticed that the questionnaire has some space for additional information - did most of you guys use that to update your file, or is it meant to serve as a space to talk about our specific interest in the school? It seems like more of an update space, but I wasn't sure since the work/experience box takes care of that for the most part. Thanks in advance for any clarification!

Use your judgment. I used it to update/clarify parts of my application. You won't have a typical interview, so you won't be able to share details about your application during the interview. If you have a special connection to the school, it would probably appropriate. If you don't, I wouldn't waste the space trying to tell them how enthusiastic you are for the school, that is better reserved for a thank you letter.

Great advice, thank you!

Is UC receptive to pre-II updates?

Does anyone know how the alternate waitlist works at this school and how many people are normally taken off? I remember hearing it's divided into thirds but unranked. Is there anything you can do to make your chances of getting off the waitlist more favorable?

I'm not on the waitlist, but I'd really like to know.

You can send an update, but that's about it. I'm not sure what you're looking to hear when you ask if there's anything you can do. The number of people they take varies a lot from year to year. Some years barely any and some they get well into the middle third.

If you're not currently on it, don't stress about it. Cross that bridge when you come to it.

For people flying in how do you recommend getting to the school from cvg airport? And where to stay the night before the interview? I land sunday late night, also interested in carpooling/meeting up with other interviewees!!

Rejected post interview earlier today. Stung pretty bad but I know how the process goes so no hard feelings. Called the office and spoke with them for a few minutes, they were very nice. was told that my interview was "fine" but was not good enough to overcome my multiple MCAT scores which is what they were hoping for in my interview. With a LizzyM <70 just getting an interview was humbling and a great experience. Too blessed to be stressed! Good luck to everyone else out there waiting, Cinci is a great place.

Anybody interviewing this week? Ill be in cinci tonight and im tryin to save money on a hotel, PM me!!

Interview day was awesome, very enjoyable overall with great faculty and happy students, seems like a good atmosphere to learn medicine.

Ps hi swissfed OOS girl! Lolll

Late to the party, AMCAS went out a lot later than I wanted it to, and I just found this site. Go figure.

Still waiting for a response after the initial application. My wife went to UC, have family in the area, this is very high on my list.

Last year they started telling people with February and March interview dates that they would most likely be interviewing for an alternate list spot. Has that began yet?

I just interviewed there 2 days ago and they said nothing if the class being full

Just wondering, when do you think the 12/16 interviewers will hear since there have been all these holidays postponing the meetings? I'm guessing sometime around 1/3- 1/5 or so? Thoughts?

Hi guys,

I'm sorry of this has already been answered, but I was wondering: how exactly does the MMI work at UC? I understand that it's 6-8 stations that last 8-10 minutes each, but what exactly happens during those 8-10 minutes? Are you supposed to just give a monologue for the entire time, or do you just talk for a couple of minutes and then the interviewer asks a questions, you answer/clarify some more, etc.? I just can't imagine giving an 8-10 minute speech without any sort of questioning or prodding from the interviewer at some point...

Thanks

From my experience interviewing here, you first introduce yourself after entering the room and then give your opinion on the topic. That'll probably consist of you talking about 1-3 minutes and then the interviewer will most likely ask follow-up questions based on your response! I think each station lasts about 6 min (although I don't remember exactly) and it actually goes by a lot faster than you might expect! Good Luck!!

Awesome--thanks so much! And good luck to you as well!

This is correct. You come in, introduce yourself and give your opinion. When you're done, we ask follow up questions. Depending on the day, the station could be 6 or 8 minutes, but that is irrelevant for you on the interviewee side of things.

Does anyone have any ideas as to when some of the December interviewees will hear anything? I know that the holidays screw things up a bit, but I didn't know if we should expect anything within the next week or so?
