2014-2015 University of Cincinnati Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is the website correct and financial aid packages don't come out until May 10? They only gave me a week to decide. Then again, apparently if I had been given a scholarship or something they'd have told me over the phone, taking the word of @toostressful.

Congrats to everyone coming off the waitlist!! Seeing all this movement so early gives me hope! Those of you who received calls, do you mind sharing if you are IS or OOS?

Ooooh! Glad to hear the email has not gone out yet, I was worrying that I hadn't received it yet also.

Just got in off the waitlist! Has anyone gotten the email yet? Starting to worry I just imagined the call. 😛

Edit: I'm in-state.
I'm OOS, LizzyM 74-75. I also sent a letter of interest/update letter in February!
Thanks for the feedback! I am IS, nontraditional, on the top 1/3 of the waitlist and hoping for the best! Meanwhile I'll just feed off the good news of others 🙂 @madb0x and @anonymousmedschooler, stay positive! From what I've read, Cinci has pulled from the middle tier in past years!

Is there a class of 2019 facebook group that newly accepted people can join?

This was a tough call, but after carefully weighing my options, I will be withdrawing my acceptance. I hope it goes to one of you!

Quick question for anyone who knows the answer:

1) Is the 4th year pass fail at cinci or graded? If graded, what is the grading scale?

Has anyone heard of any more movement off of the waitlist since the last week in April?

A girl I know got accepted two Fridays ago. They might be doing every other Friday for acceptances off of the waitlist. You can also try to call and ask, but please do update the thread if you do.

Are there any students who have been living in Northern KY, such as Newport? I'd love to ask some questions about the convenience of living in that area, etc.

Ive visited new port many times and its really nice (nicer than around the school for sure). I know someone who commutes from there and is pretty happy. I think you still qualify for in state tuition minus like 500 dollars or something like that for being in a neighnoring state

You could ask on our Facebook page, I know I posted the link here previously. I have heard lots of positive things from the students who live in Northern KY, so it sounds like a nice set up. However, I decided that I prefer not to have any commute.

Has anyone heard any news recently?

Nope. I have been considering calling to see if they've extended any offers, but what I anticipate is that until OSU moves in July after examining whether or not their acceptees have met the anatomy requirement, we won't really see anything too significant here.

Oh you know I never thought about the OSU anatomy requirement. That makes sense! If you do call, would you mind posting the information you learn on here??

I talked to the office on Monday, and they said that the past few weeks have been really quiet in terms of waitlist movement, but they expect a decent amount in the next 2 weeks!

I hope it reaches tier 2 🙂😀😛😱😎

I'm applying the 2015-2016 cycle as an OOSer and am curious about potential resident status and IS tuition. I know at OSU it is quite reasonable to get IS tuition after one year of school, and UC's website seems to indicate that it is much harder to become IS at UC than at OSU. Is this correct? Does anyone know of any OOSer at UC seeking IS tuition and how that went? I really appreciate the help.

I know some people live in Kentucky and I know they get the IS tuition that way.

For OSU and UC, pretty much same rules for getting in state residency after 1 year as an out of stater

I called Admissions this morning, they said that the class is full and future movement is predicated on withdrawals from currently accepted students only.

Far less optimistic than our friend on the last page. Don't lose hope, but make alternate plans.

The above statement from admissions is true by definition and rule at every US allopathic school at this point in the admissions cycle, FYI.

There has been movement until the day classes start in past years and I imagine that the same will hold true this year.

The answer is that it's exactly as easy at UC as it is at OSU because they follow the same law in applying the IS determination.

And by just as easy, you mean easy? Your sentiment that it is set at the state level makes sense, but I do find it odd that OSU touts how easy it is (relatively, I'm sure there are still many hoops to jump through), while UC claims it is difficult. Does anyone have experience or know someone at UC who has actually tried to obtain IS tuition after initially being OOS? Sorry if it sounds like I'm belaboring the point, but I really love UC (I'm actually at their library right now) but am hoping there is a reasonable chance I could get IS tuition eventually if accepted here.

It is easy. I dont know anyone who didnt get it approved after living here after a year, if they followed the guideline which isnt difficult. That shouldnt be a factor between deciding two ohio schools
