2014-2015 University of Florida Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Have to reschedule my early interview tomorrow because I have training that I cannot miss. Hopefully this doesn't hurt me.

Interview day was amazing. Interviews were very relaxed and conversational. I feel like my interviewers really got to know me as a person and were not in any way trying to stress me out. UF definitely rose to my top choice today

UF was among my top choices coming in, but it is much more so after seeing the program in the flesh. I loved the vibe I got from everybody there. Every student seems to love the school. They love the faculty, the student-centred team learning, and the fact that the school actually cares about student feedback.

Also: when everybody tells you that interviews are chill, they are! My interviewers did not try to stress me in any way and I really felt like the adcom tried to pair me with people with whom I had things in common. I come from the humanities and they paired me with a lawyer who could relate to my academic background. This really helped calm my nerves.

I really hope I get some UF love!! So excited about this program!

Good luck to everyone that is applying here.

Got one today. Apparently there was some sort of glitch affecting some students, including me. I assume more IIs will be given out soon now that it should be fixed

Congrats!! 🙂 Can you please share when you were complete?

I attend UF as an undergrad, was complete late july and no II yet. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Current MS1 here if anyone has any questions feel free to shoot me a message!

I submitted my secondary just now. Late ? Oh well !! Hope all goes well ! :bang:

Does anyone know if UF limits the number of updates you can send them? The secondary just says "You will not be able to revise the content that has already been submitted"

I don't think there's a limit of the number of times you can update, but there is a character limit. If things haven't changed since I applied, you can log in and change your "update" field whenever you want. I don't know if it pings them when you do this, but if you end up on the waitlist I'm sure they'll check it out when they go back to make waitlist decisions. If you have more to add and have run out of characters, just try to condense what you're saying. I don't think they'll knock you for not having it in prose (like your AMCAS application should be) if that's the case.

These are conversational interviews...correct?
Correct. It's a discussion. Don't just try to provide "correct" answers. Discuss your answers and describe why you feel the way you do. If you need to take a moment to reflect, go ahead. There really aren't "wrong" answers (unless of course you say something stupid). The first time I didn't get in, and I was told I sounded too rehearsed. I actually wasn't, but I answered questions so explicitly as if I were. The second time I interviewed I said things like "I don't quite have enough experience to have a fully developed opinion, but so far I think..." Also, there were a few times I got deeper into the interview and realized I now had a better answer to a previous question, so I segued back to that question and answered it again. That seemed to work well. Let it flow organically. Sometimes you'll go on tangents with your interviewer, and that's OK.

anyone know approx what time they'll email us/when they update the portal? so nervous and dying in anticipation!

II just now!! OOS, LizzyM ~72, complete 9/9. I took the first available date, October 31st, so I'm not sure what is available after that.

The interview day sounds really awesome, I hope it all goes well because it sounds like I'm going to love the school even more after!

So nervous!!! I wonder what time the e-mails go out. Ahhhh! Top choice right here!

Hoping for some UF love!
