2014-2015 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Lol! You guys crack me up.... That poor office dealing with all these psychotic pre-meds.
..............
Sooo.... I interviewed on 12/19, how long does it take for your status page to go from "Interview scheduled...Evaluation not complete" to "Decision Pending", relatively speaking? :scared:
mhm you call us neurotic and then you ask this question. It happens whenever they decide to push the button to flip you from one to the other. As someone that works in academia, it is not predictable.

So uh...I interviewed in Rockford in mid-November and my status is literally still at "Decision Pending" :bored: . I thought maybe it was just taking them longer because of the holidays, but after constantly seeing so many of you guys with status updates who interviewed after me, I have no idea what to think. Anyone in a similar situation or have any insight? It's been almost 2 months now... 🙁
This happened to me last year and then I was waitlisted. It's possible that they haven't made decision on your application for whatever reason. I know that's not what you want to hear but I thought I would save you the trouble of looking around.

I interviewed in Rockford mid-Nov and have decision pending too 🙁

I guess I just got deferred?

"The Committee on Admissions of the University of Illinois College of Medicine reviewed your application for the month of December 2014. We wish to advise you that no final decision has been reached on your candidacy, but that you are still under consideration. Due to the large number of applications we have received, the committee is spending more time reviewing candidates. Please note that the Committee reserves the right to withhold all final decisions until June 1st.

We will update you if your status in the process changes. We ask that you notify us of mailing address or phone number changes so we may communicate promptly with you."

Oh well. I guess I'll keep playing the waiting game.

I didn't get any correspondence yet. Does that just mean they will review you again in Jan?

Unfortunately, this is the "you're weren't good enough in the batch of applicants that we evaluated this month" email. I got one, too. Looking at last year's forum, there are a number of students who were reconsidered for multiple months but finally got accepted.

Right, that's what I meant by "deferred."

Tredwise, last year when you were waitlisted did you keep getting the "you're not good enough" email every single month? When did you find out you were waitlisted?

No I only got one of those and then the wait list one and then the rejection one.

So dreadful! Is it true they don't waitlist until May?

I'm so excited for you that you were accepted this year... congratulations on that! 🙂 I hope you get the official paperwork in the mail very, very soon!

That's what they did last year but I thought I read today that they're moving the date up to August 30. Thanks 🙂 you are sweet, good luck to you.

I won't believe it until I have the papers in my hands! Those mail men are procrastinating.

Hi Everyone! Congrats to everyone who has been accepted and for those waiting, Best of Luck!
I am an OOS and I am interviewing in Chicago on 2/13 anyone else have that interview date?
Also any advice one how to prepare for the interview?

Anyone else go from "Applicant in process" to "application is in process?"

I haven't seen or heard anything but I'm at work right now.

You can call the admin office on Thursdays and speak with a counselor. I'm not sure they will tell you of your status post-interview, but I'm sure they can answer whether or not letters have gone out...

I was being facetious. Jeeze, you can't take a joke?

Quick question! If you've received an e-mail saying you'll be reconsidered for next month, do they also send this information through snail mail? Or do they just send you an e-mail?
They might do both. I don't remember. They do both for all other emails.

According to my sister, the mail didn't come for me yet. :-( I'll probably call them tomorrow.

For those of you who were also accepted, does your letter talk about research at the end of the first paragraph?

Totally OT, but I've been meaning since my interview to hunt down the pizza place (I think it was called Pompeii) from which they ordered that sausage and ricotta stuffed pizza. I need more of that in my stomach. Definitely my favorite interview lunch out of the six, by far. :hungry:

Hi everyone, I am interviewing at the Peoria campus and I wanted to ask if any of you know what time the interview day ends? I am trying to book travel to Chicago from the Peoria campus so if you also have recommendations for that that would be awesome!!

Thank you!

It ends around 4:30 at the latest. There is a bus that runs between Peoria and Chicago. Other than that, it would be driving or if you are flying into Chicago, there are flights into Peoria from O'Hare.

Is anyone having trouble logging in? It keeps saying that the application deadline has passed. I have yet to get a rejection letter in the mail either. No II either.
