Anyone else get the invite to apply to UMED? Is this only for chicago campus folks?

Hi everyone, I am interviewing at the Peoria campus and I wanted to ask if any of you know what time the interview day ends? I am trying to book travel to Chicago from the Peoria campus so if you also have recommendations for that that would be awesome!!

Thank you!
I'm interviewing tomorrow in Peoria.
Are you arriving around noon for the boxed lunch?

I got the UMED application invite today, but still haven't gotten any official notice that I got accepted into the actual medical school yet. lol

I just got my acceptance letter (fat pack) today. =D

Anyone have any idea what the site placement timeline is like? Also, is it a first come, first serve sort of thing?

Yes to your second question. (except - they will redirect some people whose first preference is Chicago if Chicago is filling up too quickly)

Does anyone know if it's possible to find out the name of your interviewer before the interview?

You find out like 1-2 hours before the interview. Time for a quick google search at least

Oh hell. That's gonna be a nerve-wracking wait. My lust for Chicago is crazy high.

Congratulations!! Mine came about 4 days after I returned my preference card (though I completed it in person at the Chicago campus). I think it varies. Good luck!

Have you guys been sending out thank you notes after the interview? I misplaced the sheet with names and emails, and while I was easily able to find the emails of the faculty who interviewed me, tracking down the med students has proven to be impossible. I'm debating whether it's bettter to send thank you emails to the professors and neglect the students, or simply not send anything to anyone. Both courses of action have disadvantages but the latter involves less work, so that's what I'm leaning towards lol.

The campus I interviewed at specifically emphasized that they did not want applicants to send thank you notes. It was in our information and they also said it in the initial session.

That's interesting. I interviewed in Chicago and did not get such an announcement. But, I'd imagine the gigantic bureaucracy that is the University of Illinois probably functions as one monolithic block, so maybe they just forgot to mention it.

They pulled the ole switcharoo on me, and I ended up interviewing with people who weren't on my "interviewer information" sheet. I just emailed the guy from the admissions office who seemed to be running the show, and he sent me the contact info of the substitute interviewers. If you call/email admissions, they can probably hook you up.

Alternatively, just don't worry about it. Thank you notes, though polite, don't have any impact on admissions.

Sorry if someone has already answered this question, but is the Chicago campus interview open or closed file?

Recent interviewees: please share your experiences! Campus? What questions were you asked? How was your overall experience?

Sorry, false alarm. I went back to last year's thread, and it appears that the adcom meeting in January will be the 4th Thursday of the month. No one saw any status changes last year on the 3rd Thursday.

I interviewed this past Monday, 1/12 and was told our files would be reviewed this Thursday. Not sure if that's just MSTP applicants or all MD applicants as well.

What is your current status on the portal? Mine still says "Interview scheduled on January 9th. Evaluation not complete" I was just wondering how this affects the date of AdCom review..

Mine isn't very helpful because I never scheduled an interview through that portal =\

Back around Christmas I posted a pretty thorough review of my interview experience at Chicago that I think is really helpful for others. Not sure if you saw it. If you have additional questions too, feel free to PM me!

I have a feeling you're right about this. 🙁 Seems there has been no status changes today for people that were already "decision pending". Last month, status changes were seen the day of the Adcom meeting.

So I sent an email over a week ago asking if they accept updates. Does anyone here know the answer to this question?

For those who interviewed in Rockford, is it open or closed file? Since it's only 30 min interview with three interviewers - unlike at other locations - I was wondering how different the interview format is?

Decision pending, interviewed the 14th! Now do I wait until next month when the adcom meets to see a status change? And for those asking about Rockford. I had 4 interviewers, and they had my personal statement and my supplemental essays. Good luck!

Has anyone in CA received their letter/package yet since final decision made in DEC? if yes, when?

Thanks!!

Anyone know what the odds are of getting a Chicago placement at this point in the year?

Good luck to the ones interviewing soon!

On a side note, no fb page yet? Lots of schools have theirs already!

Any idea about the Hep B form? Are we supposed to get it by email, mail or what? Thanks
