Yeah you should definitely apply on the first day. You could do a SMP if your gpa is that bad.

I finished some of the activities I had started (with letters to prove it), participated in research symposiums, had a paper published (not first author), got a job doing clinical research, and got a 4.0 for my senior year. I also interviewed much better this time around. :angelic:

Thanks for your reply. I went back on this thread earlier today and happened to see the stats you posted...damn, can't believe you didn't get in the first time around. 4.0 senior year or not, your cumulative GPA for the 4 years is high enough that you must have had a mighty good one the first time you applied as well, and that's a good MCAT too. This process really is mind numbingly arbitrary :inpain:.

As for myself, an SMP is outta the question. I've got a good corporate job at the moment and between having to lose that salary and pay for an SMP, I'm looking at a six figure loss if I do it, and that for nothing guaranteed. I'm just gonna do some cosmetic improvements, apply opening day and to more schools, and apply for DO as well. Worst come to worst I'll go DO and spend every waking moment for the subsequent 2 years prepping for Step 1, lol.

With that said, please UIC, lemme in darn it! I know my GPA sucks, you've deferred me this month and I've done my penance, now lemme in!! lol. This is Chicago, so who do I have to bribe?? Just lemme know, be it Rahm, my friendly local alderman, whoever it be, just lemme know and I'll pay!

Hi EEB, Have you received the CBC email yet? i still haven't gotten it. Status change 1/22
No, still not. No letter yet, either. I'm rushing home every day after work to check the mail haha, this is making me crazy. I'll let ya know.

I know! This waiting sucks, it's like as if the previous MCAT and application didn't suck already. Fingers crossed for us lol.

I was accepted in December, and it took about a month for me to receive the CBC email, so don't stress 🙂
Thanks John, just out of curiosity, how long did it take for you to receive the letter after your status change? Did it really take two weeks? Also did you ever have a date next to the "addnl correspondence" tab?

Sorry for the series of questions!!:zombie:

No letter yet either... Do you live near chicago area?
Yes! Schaumburg! What the heck! I work an hour away, so the drive home is me holding my breath going 90 down the highway, just to arrive to an empty mail box, haha

No problem, I was just as stressed as you a month ago 🙂 I never had a date next to the additional correspondences tab. The only date I had was "a final decision has been made on your application on x. Please wait up to two weeks for..." or something along those lines. Mine was a little weird since they made their decision on December 18th, but they didn't actually mail out the letters until like January 6th because of the holdiays, so I really don't know if it usually takes 2 weeks or not.

Dang, I almost couldn't take this wait any longer, the wait for your must have been horrible! Congratulations now that you are on the other side of the mountain now 😉

Me too, Buffalo Grove.... C'mon snail~ crawl faster lol.....

I was under the impression that if it said please wait for "correspondence in mail" that you had been accepted. I think its fine to be nervous, but I don't think you need to barrel down the highway to check your mailbox when you already know you got in lol (at least I think).

I could be totally wrong, I haven't read through all the pages so maybe someone got a letter of rejection even though their portal said to wait for the additional correspondence?

90 is a slight exaggeration, but yes. People have received the additional correspondence tab and received a rejection letter.

People from last year's thread received rejection letters with add. corr., also, I think one person on here did recently.

Oh. That changes things.

Good luck then, I hope you get good news.

Additional correspondence! Interviewed 12/19.
Hi I noticed that you are accepted, congrats! I also had a final status change last thursday; however, I haven't received the letter yet. I was wondering if you have already? Thanks!

Thanks! I have not received the letter yet. Hopefully we'll see them arrive this week.

I think I might be going crazy! I remember someone saying that of the almost 900 applicants interviewed last year 600 were offered acceptances. A gentleman at my interview session said he read that in one of the informational materials provided, but I've scoured those materials and can't find that statistic. Has anyone else heard that? If so, where did you hear it? Could you point me to a link where to find this information if it's incorrect?

I saw that info on MSAR.

It doesn't say only 600 acceptances were offered though, it says 600 matriculated. Which means some people may have held multiple acceptances and declined UIC. My pre-health advisor told me that UIC has a high interview to acceptance rate.

That is from USNWR

I just logged into MSAR, and it only says that 300 matriculated of the almost 9000 interviewed.

Haha, yeah... I meant 900 interviewed. Sorry bout that.

Anyway, I was just trying to say that the MSAR didn't say how many acceptances were actually offered, just the number interviewed and the number of matriculants. Some schools offer double the acceptances of the number of matriculants, and other schools who have a very high rate of students matriculating when offered an acceptance end up offering slightly over the number of matriculants. Just want to know where UIC stands.

I was under the impression that it was usually double acceptances/matriculants. maybe not for the top 10

I just received an email saying my application was reviewed but no decision has been made. Does anyone know if that's a bad sign?

It's not good, but it's not a death sign either. You're basically on the waitlist because there's no movement to reject you (yay!) but not enough movement to accept you ( 🙁 ).

I've received that email twice this month.. I'm just happy I haven't been rejected

If you go back to the first few pages of this thread with the status descriptions it basically means they like us but not enough to accept us yet

Is this all post-II? I called admissions yesterday and they said I was still under review.

I got a no final decision made , what does that mean ? They still reviewed it...

According to US news, they accept roughly 68% of in staters interviewed, 59% of out of staters, and 65% of those interviewed in total

Still waiting for an II. Anybody know the odds?
