Called the admissions office. Letters should go out Thursday. I also asked what the "additional correspondence" box means and they didn't give me a straight answer.
Well if you're like me, I just crossed the 6 month threshold of being "in process", I wouldn't hold your breath. I can't tell if I should be confused & hopeful or frustrated that I haven't been given a declarative answer yet.So.... What are my chances of getting an II this late?
My portal just updated to "final decision has been made" - I'm assuming that's a rejection, considering I didn't get anything by email about an interview.
Anyone else have this happen today? Just curious!
Also, I didn't receive an email about the status change. I happened to catch it same-day while doing routine app status checks.
Does your portal have "additional correspondence" on the top right in the yellow box?Me too! Post interview, likely a rejection. Womp womp

No, but they aren't mailing out letters until 2/26. I know they had a meeting on 2/19, and it looks like they've made some decisions today as well, both pre- and post-interview.For those in the February round of decisions, and those who haven't received a CBC email previously: has anyone received the CBC email yet...?
Just to make things even more confusing, I went from being "Applicant in process" this morning to "Applicant is in Process" as of 2:45 PST....My portal just updated to "final decision has been made" - I'm assuming that's a rejection, considering I didn't get anything by email about an interview.

But keep in mind they will also be building their wait list. And lots of people give up their spots in the UofI system in the spring. Stay positive! Do they accept letters of interest? I've heard that is very effective for getting off the wait list at other schools.I heard, (disclaimer: heard) that at this stage, anyone post February that interviewed, they accept only about 2 people per interview site out of the 24 or so that attend the interview. Sad.
They are very straightfoward in that they do not accept any form of letters of interest. The reason is more so of the clunky administration workflow they already have, and they already don't need any extra enveloped or emails flying around. But keep in mind they will also be building their wait list. There was one person who said they were earlierHas anyone who interviewed been denied yet?
+1. Just got yet another one. Sigh...Is a "still under consideration" email at this stage a good or bad sign?
So I went from decision pending to whatever that final decision made message was and there is an empty additional correspondence tab. Likely I'm in or is it a toss up? Are we supposed to get an email? So many mixed messages here.
+1 Hope you're right! You're most likely in, that's the general consensus. It held true for me when I got that. Congrats! I know it's still an anxious wait until you get the mail correspondence to confirm it though.
When did your portal change? Or rather, was there a decision date specified? So I went from decision pending to whatever that final decision made message was and there is an empty additional correspondence tab. Yeah. As was said earlier, pretty much slim chances at all for those who interviewed Feb and later, or so word has it.There was one person who said they were earlier
I noticed it on Saturday, hoping everyone is right. When did your portal change? Or rather, was there a decision date specified?

I don't think this is true. I interviewed in Feb and got an add'l correspondence tab. I don't think it's fair to say something like that on this thread. If people get an interview, they have a shot at getting in.Yeah. As was said earlier, pretty much slim chances at all for those who interviewed Feb and later, or so word has it.

I mean, wishful thinking is great and all. I like to not get anyone's hopes up.I don't think this is true. I interviewed in Feb and got an add'l correspondence tab. I don't think it's fair to say something like that on this thread. If people get an interview, they have a shot at getting in.

Agreed. No need to come on here and spread completely baseless rumors. We are all nervous enough as it is. @glee225 , good luck on your interview if you haven't had it already!
Letters will be mailed out tomorrow. Thanks, @pasdebourree! I had my interview 2/13, and I'm actually waiting for the mail right now :O Final decision + add'l correspondence on 2/19.
Everyone who interviewed after 2/13 was extremely put off when the dr. G pretty much acknowledged that acceptance to chicago campus will be hard and that they won't be considered until the March meeting.Letters will be mailed out tomorrow.

Ya.... For some reason I thought people who interviewed that week wouldn't hear back until the end of March (or am I alone in that sentiment) but then I got the still under consideration email and now see a potential acceptance from that week. Meaning I was reviewed...? Or not...? My heart...
Nonetheless congrats glee225!!! From what I understand additional correspondence is good news!
Anyone know what the process is to give up your place after you've accepted? (Apologies if this has been answered before)
Most places just allow you to send an email and they'll take care of it.Anyone know what the process is to give up your place after you've accepted? (Apologies if this has been answered before)
I was reviewed last month and this month and I got the additional correspondence tab so hopefully it's not a death sentence to not be decided upon right away.Ya.... They don't expect you to bring anything to your interview 🙂 They have already read your application, so just go there and be ready to talk about yourself and why you're interested in medicineHey guys, new to SDN but I've been catching up on all the posts over the last several weeks. I appreciate all the helpful tips and advice. Anyways, I received an invite for an interview late (II on March 4th at the Chicago campus) and I was just wondering what, if anything, previous have applicants have brought with them to the interview? Thanks in advance!

Wow that really doesn't make a lot of sense...have you gotten interviews/acceptances elsewhere?I'm just so confused with UIC. I'm in state, went to U of I, 36/3.7, and I've gotten no love. Still "Applicant in Process" 🙁

Have you called them? If not, you should.

And I am extremely confused by this. Their chicago campus is packed already, and none of the other places have as many people slots... do they have that big a turnover?Oh so they ARE still sending II's then. Interesting. Congrats and good luck!!
They give out at least twice as many offers as the actual number of matriculants, so I guess the answer is yes.And I am extremely confused by this. Their chicago campus is packed already, and none of the other places have as many people slots... do they have that big a turnover?
This and there are more spots at the other campuses than it feels like. 175/300 go to chicago but another 125 go to Urbana for year 1. So not quite 50/50 but there are a lot of spots to be had split among the other campuses as well. They give out at least twice as many offers as the actual number of matriculants, so I guess the answer is yes.
