Question: my status is still-

INITIAL REVIEW COMPLETED

Your file has undergone an initial review. Additional review(s) will be conducted once your file is complete (receipt of Secondary Application, LORs, and fee). These reviews can take place any time between now and the end of February. Thank you for your patience!"

Yet I completed the secondary and paid the fee in july (got an email confirming both), and all of my letters of rec were submitted to AMCAS around the same time. Accordingly, my status page shows check marks next to my web secondary app submitted, fee paid, and all letter writers...

Is there a reason my status has not been updated to "Complete - under review" or something equivalent? Does this mean the adcoms just haven't looked at it yet? Or is it actually not being considered complete for some reason (and thus being put lower and lower in the pile)? Has anyone else experienced this?

It's way too early to worry! Lots and lots of interviews are still to come 🙂

To everyone who will be coming in two weeks, a HUGE congratulations! We are all so excited to meet you 😀

Remember to think of (non-interview quality) questions you may have about anything related to being a medical student. It took me a bit of time to start asking questions at interviews and I wish I loosened up a bit sooner. Eventually all the presentations and fun facts and curricula and facilities and whatever else will blur together - it's the people who you will remember as you try to figure out which school is a good fit.

I am complete as of 8/25. My stats are 3.55 cGPA, 3.43 sGPA, and 31 MCAT (10/11/10). Hoping for a miracle 🙂

Congrats to all those who got IIs. Any other IS people been complete for a while and still under review? Starting to get a little worried because people who were complete later and with similar stats are getting their IIs. Hope that doesn't mean a silent rejection or on hold :/

Question for my other friendly MIC complete-ers... Anyone have a quick turn-around on this?

I will probably turn it in the day before it is due, with the rate I am going. Anyone think that will be a problem, or is that just good old-fashioned paranoia? I'm a bit nervous they will think I'm not super pumped about my interview...

They set the due date so I seriously doubt they mind when your MIC is done as long as it is before the cut off. I don't think sending it in later would come across as lacking enthusiasm at all. They know you're excited. It's the U of M, who wouldn't be? You've earned a break from penning introspective essays by getting an interview at an amazing school. Take your time and then hit those last two prompts out of the park.🙂

Finally just submitted the MIC (don't worry, @innov8 , I gave myself a long time to do it too!). This is starting to feel much closer and more real.

I was under the impression it would just be short, one sentence answers 🙁
Care to share the prompts? I don't even know if I would pre-write them but I am just curious of what they are asking for

The MIC (Michigan Interview Confirmation) is a short survey thing you submit before your interview if you get invited. It just asks for a some more information about you.

It looks like I can't review the prompts since I already submitted, but it was just two shortish essay prompts (less than 250 words) and a few other short questions. One prompt was about what your experiences taught you about leadership and the other was describing a group work experience and how you contributed to the goals of the group. There's an optional space to add any updates you have since submitting the primary, and the rest is just a few checkboxes/short answer type things IIRC. It's shorter than the already totally manageable secondary, so I honestly wouldn't worry about prewriting anything. Just be familiar with your assuredly awesome self.

Dear Buckeye N4tion: You do realize that at the recent White Coat Ceremony, the Dean warned that it is a requirement to sing the "Hail to the Victors" fight song to graduate from U of M. Go Blue!! Best wishes to you anyway.

I can't see the MIC link yet. Probably because my interview date is beyond 30days from now...
Can anyone verify that the MIC isn't visible until 30 days prior to the scheduled interview? I just found out about this, immediately freaked out (naturally), and am now a bit more calm after consulting sdn (surprisingly).

When were others able to see/complete the MIC?

For me, it popped up exactly when they said it would. You won't get an email or anything (at least I didn't), but a link will show up on your application page. It's not hidden or anything. It will be obvious when you check.

Yep. It shows up exactly 30days before my interview.

So, I went to submit the MIC this morning as it said it was due by today. However, when I logged in, it said PAST DUE already next to the survey link. It still allowed me to submit it though. Is waiting this long going to be a problem and hurt my chances? Also, I thought when it said due by 8/29, you could submit it on 8/29 without it being late. I didn't even know it was there until I checked this thread a few days ago. Did I screw up?

Status changed today to "Application Review Complete" and says "Your application has been reviewed. At this point we are not able to offer you an interview." Well, you win some and you lose some. Good luck to everyone else! Oh, and I'm OOS LizzyM ~75 and was complete 7/28

I've been stuck in the File Complete - Under Review purgatory (read: hell) since July 14th. But UM exhibits Harvard-esque standards for its OOS applicants. With your stats, I've no doubt you will end up somewhere great 🙂

Thanks! Waiting is the worst part, hopefully you hear back soon with some good news!

+1 since 7/3.... Basically given up on Michigan

Does anyone know if they do the 10:10 Tuesday and 3:33 Thursday release this year like they did last year?

I am too lazy to find the appropriate meme: If it hasn't happen by now, it isn't going to happen. 😉

Has anyone submitted the "MIC"? I can't find it and not sure if they will be sending it later.

I submitted my MIC and can't wait for the interview! I recently had a mock interview with a student through Student Mentor Network who interviewed there last year. It made me even more excited, can't wait!!

For those of you with an II, make sure you do the MIC! It has a deadline. I just discovered this within the portal... I thought the "MIC" was something they would send an email about... But apparently its just a link that shows up in your portal.

Realized this late. Oops. :|

Also, what are we supposed to put as our UMID for the HIPPA stuff? Or am I confused?

II!!! just logged in this morning and my status had changed to an II without receiving an email! I still cannot believe it, I feel so honored. OOS, LizzyM ~74-76 🙂
I have been logging in too, just to check if I can catch an interview invite before they send it by email. I thought I was being pretty silly until you posted this. Now I will be checking my status every 5 minutes 😉

I feel the temptation, but from how the cycle is going, if you didn't get an II on your status page at like 8:20 AM ET, then you won't get one that day. So it seems checking once a day is enough. 😉

Congrats and love your user name!

My year, at least, the dress code was very casual. Definitely don't show up in suit and tie. If you're male, wear a polo and some jeans or nice shorts. If you're a lady, wear something that's nice but not too dressed up. Hope that's helpful
Yes, the dress code is very casual for Pizza House! Only people in attendance are "Interview Day Ambassadors" (students helping coordinate logistics of the interview day), overnight hosts, and any other med students seeking free pizza. No AdCom members. Dress comfortably, as the dinners are generally followed by a walking tour of Ann Arbor.

II just now! Complete 7/31. Haven't received the email yet. Dates available are fridays from October 24 to January.

Congrats, samsunimomo!

After seeing your message, I decided to check my status page even though I had already checked this morning, and my status was "Interview Offered"! I had been "File Complete--Under Review" since 7/28.

I'm from out of state and I'm very excited to see Ann Arbor!

Congrats you two! That is so exciting!! I've heard nothing but great things about the school 🙂

Does anyone know if Michigan receives "in the area" emails? My department is sending me to Ann Arbor for a conference in late October and I don't know if it's worth letting UM know.

I asked this question to a Michigan MS-2, who works with the admissions director. She said that "it won't help or hurt, and in-the-area emails should be sent to the UMich update section in the secondary." And as a side note, I did not end up sending an in-the-area email.

Thank you! Adding to what @samsunimomo said, it might be helpful to know that they only interview on Fridays. October 24 and 31 are the October dates I see available right now.

Great, thank you for the info 🙂
The conference starts Monday the 27th so maybe it's not in the cards but I appreciate your response all the same 🙂 Best of luck with your interviews!!

Congrats on all the interview offers! 🙂

Should the people who have been under review for a while be considered silently rejected?

No. My status never changed from under review until I got my interview invite. For a good 4 weeks.

Stats?

As did I. I couldn't have asked for a better interview experience. October 15 can't come soon enough!
Seconding this x1000. Ann Arbor is awesome. Michigan is awesome. The students and other folks interviewing are awesome (some of whom I recognize from this very thread).😉
