2014-2015 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Rejected by email today. This one's gonna take me days to recover from. Good luck to everyone else! UNC is a still a great school.

EDIT: Oops, forgot my stats. GPA 3.7, MCAT 36, in-state. Guess I know now why they didn't send me the residency form when I called lol.
Sorry to hear that, dude. But look at the bright side, at least they didn't wait until April to tell you like they did for a lot of applicants last cycle (i.e. me).

Plus, you're still in a position where you control your future this cycle. Channel your frustration into making sure you're on your A-game for your next interview!

oh man =/

Though I'm sure your stats will take you places. Best of luck with the rest of cycle!

All these rejections are freaking me out. I am sorry guys :/

I just received the dreaded pre-interview rejection email, although I was applying OOS with some in-state ties. I was also complete mid-July. Good luck to everybody applying this cycle.

+1

This week marks 8 weeks. Hoping to hear something before the holidays.

Wishful thinking 🙂

Also, has anyone heard anything after submitting their residency form?

Hi all, I have a question for a friend that I wasn't able to fully resolve by browsing this thread.

If he is from CA, but lives in NC starting July/August 2015, and applies for the 2016 cycle - he has to mark himself as OOS on AMCAS? but he can put his NC address as his contact address? and if he does taxes/driver's license/etc. for the full year, will he qualify for IS tuition when matriculation time comes around a year later?

thanks!!

Your friend should probably contact Ms. Reid about how to proceed. Also, it would depend on when AMCAS was submitted too. If submitted in June, yes, OOS w/ an updated mailing address later on in the cycle is likely how the application would be viewed, and then if accepted, the residency requirement would have been met for in-state tuition since they would have lived in NC >1 year.

Just my best guess though. Probably better off talking to Ms. Reid.

Anyone else just get an email from Ms. Reid? I nearly had a heart attack...

Update: Literally still trying to recover and realized I didn't say what was in the email--just that they're still reviewing apps and to remind us not to send in anything. Maybe they've gotten lots of updates and just don't want anymore from us?

Is this equivalent to a hold.... I am so confused...?!?!

P.S.- I also received it

Doubtful... it seems like they're just saying that their process is going slower than anticipated.

Yeah, I'm also a little confused by that email. I know that I definitely didn't get one last cycle, though I did receive something similar in mid-March telling me to be patient. It's only been 6 weeks since I interviewed (including the holidays), so I don't know if the email is meant to be suggestive in any way.

I'm assuming they sent this out to everyone that's still waiting, so I'm hoping it's not meant as any sort of indication either way...

Relieved to hear that everyone else got that email too - I was thinking it was essentially a waitlist notification, but if people got it before their 8-week mark, I guess they're just sending it out to anyone who has interviewed but hasn't received a final decision yet.

Those who got this email today, have you already interviewed?

Also got the email. Interviewed 9-22. I don't think it means anything and was just sent to everyone. The wait goes on...

So much fun, UNC!!!!

Yeah I literally interviewed less than a month ago and received this e-mail today as well.

Has anyone called to ask what the email actually meant?

- also hopefully they are meeting todayyy! 🙂

Next week would be my 8th week mark..I need your love UNC!😍

Or in 14 weeks, apparently... granted, that includes the holidays. But still...

One of my Facebook friends posted that her sister was accepted yesterday. I don't know her well enough to ask for details without being creepy, but it seems like no one's posted about an acceptance in a while so I figured I'd let people know that they are still sending them out and the committee most likely met yesterday.

Got the call last night! Interviewed early September. IS

G'luck everyone!

Nice! Great seeing the September people finally get some love. Just, uh, leave some love for me too, UNC.

Excited to be interviewing here in a few weeks! Can any current students comment on interviewing so late? Are there many spots left or is it essentially interviewing for wait list spots?

Anyone know if there is a facebook group yet!? So excited to be going here!!!

Does anyone know the schedule for the Wednesday interviews? Are the interviews after lunch? Thanks! ☺

Had a Wednesday interview and yes, interviews are after lunch! (If I recall correctly the order was lunch --> tour --> interview.) Just a head's up that I found lunch to be pretty small (half a sandwich haha), so I would eat a decent breakfast beforehand if possible. Good luck on your interview!

At my interview day some people had one before lunch and one after and some had both after lunch, so it's kind of luck of the draw

Congrats to those of you that were just accepted! Still waiting... ugh. Have any of y'all (who got phone calls) received acceptance letters in the mail yet?
