2014-2015 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I definitely didn't attach any tax info but also don't remember needing to...? That form was all jacked up for a variety of reasons, I went back and forth with that IT guy she mentioned a few times before just submitting it. I've literally never lived outside of NC so I couldn't think of any reason why there'd be a problem confirming my residency status. And yeah, we can't go back into the "survey" so I don't know what or how to fix it.

So I waited until now to even start the form. At the end of the form there is an "optional" place to add "additional instances of residency proof" and it asks how many instances you wish to add. For each instance, it allows you to attach a document along with its description....

It is super confusing, but it is definitely there.

So are these the same tax forms we would be submitting to FAFSA by March 1st?

So I already submitted too and don't honestly know if I sent my taxes or not. Is there a way to check?

I think I'm just going to email the scanned forms to Ms. Reid. (I didn't didn't send mine with the original residency form stuff)

Are you sending all of your tax forms, or just certain pages?

Just the one federal tax form page that lists me as my parents' dependent.
(I believe that's what Ms. Reid specified in her email)

Did you get a phone call? I guess that's it, I interviewed J12, so if I didn't hear that means I'm done doesn't it....

Don't lose faith. I feel like it was really random. I don't think they go in order at all.

Interviewing tomorrow as a re-applicant. I would give my left leg to go to UNC. Requesting prayers, good luck, good juju, magic spells, or anything of that nature. Maybe even a voodoo doll in a white coat.

I'm worried about my chances interviewing so late in the cycle? Thoughts?

From one re-app to another, I hope you have the best of luck!

I don't interview until next week so I FEEL YOU on those worries. Good luck tomorrow!

Early November interview here. Still waiting 13 weeks later!

So just one acceptance this week? Nobody else heard anything? Interviewed early January making me nervous that mid-January people are already hearing back.

Wait so have any reapplicants gotten it?

I, too, am interesting in finding out.

I haven't hard anything. I was thinking Monday might've been the first possibility given the 8 week "average", so things aren't looking too promising given only 2-3 meetings left. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us though!

I interviewed in mid-November, so it's been even longer for me.

This is starting to feel oh so familiar...

Hi guys!
I have been trying to look at the last cycle's thread but I can't seem to figure out if 18weeks is too much waiting time and means you will probably be rejected or is there actually still hope? (esp for OOS)

sorry for contributing to anyone's increase in nervousness but UNC is my top choice school and I am not sure whether I should hope or be realistic...
Thanks!

Has anyone who interviewed with Dr. Falk been accepted? I interviewed in late September, IS, May 2014 graduate with 4.0 and 31 MCAT.

That's the black box of this process. Even when statistics and interview performance seems to be in your favor, there is still a long way to go to reach an acceptance. It is also quite normal for UNC to accept early interviewees near the end of the cycle. Take comfort in the fact that you put forth a good effort and that your application is actively under consideration.

I'm IS but same boat. Looking at last year’s thread, some people in our situation do get accepted, but more people are waitlisted, and even more people are rejected. Obviously waiting this long isn't a good sign--they're basically saying 'We like you, but if we can find somebody we like more, we’re taking them—but it isn’t exactly a bad sign either.

Even if the odds are against a September interview getting accepted outright, a September interview posted on here that they got in this week. In their case, who cares what the odds were? I’m planning for waitlisted or rejected, and hoping for the best.

UNC can probably do better than me. However, if they feel like settling, I’m pretty decent. That also describes 90% of my relationships.

Well, supposedly 20% (30 students per year) are reapplicants, so don't lose hope

Hey guys. I have a friend who is a reapplicant, and they got accepted this past week as well. Just a heads up 🙂

Thanks for sharing. Do you have any specific info- ad com member, interview date, stats?

Is second look March 28? I've had that date in my head for a while, but I can't remember where I got it from. Maybe it was in the admissions letter, but I don't have it with me right now so I can't check, and I can't find it anywhere online. Can anyone confirm?

Has anyone had issues creating an ONYEN ID after acceptance?

(Also March 28 rings a bell for me as well for second look, but can't confirm if that really is the date)
