2014-2015 University of Texas - San Antonio Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yup. So probably between 7-9 dates left. It's a good amount!.

Hmmm I interviewed Monday.. They said they've filled 15/22 seats for OOS applicants and there was at least 10-15 of us there... With 7-9 remaining days of interviews chances look super slim

🙁 I had no idea they'd already offered admission to 15 OOS applicants.

Yeah Dr. Jones told us this right before we left to lunch before interviews haha... definitely a dagger in the gut knowing you clawing for 7 spots... oh well we can only wait and see!

Keep in mind that not everyone who is offered a spot will keep it.

Are you hinting something here?😉

I know there will be some movement so I hope that will boost the chances.. I didn't realize admissions would roll this bad. I had the option to take a much earlier interview date and now I regret not taking it

Yes--there is a paper in the folder explaining thank you notes. It says you can mail them to:
Office of Admissions
ATTN: Name of Interviewer
UT School of Medicine at San Antonio
7703 Floyd Curl Drive-MSC 7985
San Antonio, TX 78229-3900

Hope that helps!
Hmm. You guys think it would be overkill to send thank you notes via snail mail if I already emailed thank you's to both my interviewers? I used email for my other schools.

I'm sure email is fine

Wow thats terrifying! =/ I interviewed back in august and have been wondering how many OOS spots there were left. Thanks for the info! I really hope I end up being one of those 7.

no kidding me too... I bet it will be more like 10-15 with people dropping and movement on the wait list... do you or anyone else know what happens with OOS from here on out? Past threads it looks like there was just silence until spring for the most part... I wonder if more acceptances will go out on Nov 15 with the instate

Whoa "UT SOM San Antonio-South Texas Clin Ed Campus" finally showed up on my TMDSAS rank preference, months after my interview and months after the San Antonio campus showed up there.

What are the rules about the 14 hours of biology? I need 3 more credits... can it be any bio class? Plants? Humans only? Upper level?

TMSDAS says:
14 semester hours (12 semester hours of lecture & 2 semester hours of formal lab) or 21 quarter hours (18 quarter lecture hours & 3 quarter lab hours) of Biological Science are required.

Includes all Biological Science courses applied toward Baccalaureate degree in traditional science fields, such as General Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Immunology, Parasitology and Anatomy & Physiology.

I hope by January I know my fate so I don't take another class for no reason.....

I don't think it matters that much. If you haven't taken Biochem, that's required for this school, though.

I only have 8 hours biology lol... Taking biochem and some other random class I guess

Did you guys not prematch anywhere or just not San Antonio? I interviewed at three Texas schools and didn't hear anything.

Accepted! Congrats to everyone else who pre-matched! Quick question: if i accept the pre-match offer, is that binding?

Not at all. The way the process works is that you can accept the offer now, then if you match them lower on your preferences for match day, you will either be placed in your top spots, if you are accepted there in the match, or you will be placed in your prematch school. Unless you receive a prematch at a school you'd much rather attend, the best move is for you to hold your spot.
