nope... ive been looking at last years thread though and it seems like if you are OOS and dont get any email it means you are essentially wait-listed. So today may come and go with nothing but as long as you don't get a rejection email your still hypothetically in the running.anyone else hear anything?
I was wondering when was you application transmitted if you don't mind sharing.Sorry now I see that you posted it already. Wow, that is soon! How many days did you have available? I only had two in Jan available. I picked Jan 5. 🙂
Woo congrats!!! When'd you interview?Accepted!!!! Found out this morning!

For all those headed to interview, I highly recommend you scope out the bottom of this page where the survey questions are:

are you OOS?On Sept 29
Your Stat looks fabulous, I shouldn't worry about the late interview.Yea, 4.0 gpa and 34 mcat and average EC's. Should I be concerned about the late interview date?
Yeah, I am! In-state isn't slated to hear back until Nov 15are you OOS?
Have any of you guys been receiving a ton of correspondence post-interview? I've gotten about 4-5 emails asking if I have any questions over the past couple of months. Is this a good indication? Probably not, but I would find it a little wasteful if they are still contacting students 3-4 months post-interview that they don't intend to accept.
I've been getting a lot of emails also. I wonder if its bad if we don't reply to any lol. I just don't have any questions to ask
Just interviewed today! Love this school, seriously. My interviewers were really nice and I feel that I did well, which seemed to be the consensus all around. Unfortunately, this is worrying since some people who interviewed won't get in....I feel like there's no way to tell :'(
I wouldn't sweat it. I really think it isn't always about the stats. I have had multiple II, but not from all Texas Schools either. I really think they look for certain applicants from each of the schools to give them the diversity they desire. I am still hoping for II from UTMB and UTSW. Patience...Damn. LizzyM of 72, interviews at three other Texas schools including UTSW, but nothing here. I know there's still time, but I was really hoping to have heard something by now.
My understanding is that medical schools can make pre-match offers all the way up until the match.
Now, I don't know how many pre-match offers UTHSCSA usually puts out, historically speaking, but I would assume that you would still have plenty of time to receive one.
It varies. there is no answer to this question idc what anyone tells you.How long did it take people to hear back post-interview?
Can someone explain the Texas pre-match system? Thank you!
Yeah I got it too. I think everyone does lolDid everyone else get that email from a student co-chair asking about questions? I want to feel special LOL.
It's not too complicated. Basically, starting November 15th and going through December, TMDSAS school send out acceptances. You can "accept" multiple pre-match offers with no issue, but by the deadline to rank schools for the match (January 21st, I believe?) you must have dropped all but one pre-match offer. If you rank that pre-match offer first on your list, you are guaranteed to match to that school. If you rank it below other schools you did not pre-match at, you may match into one of your higher ranked schools (in which case you will automatically withdraw from your pre-match acceptance) or you won't, and the pre-match offer stays valid.
Basically, the pre-match is a solid acceptance that the school can't "take back." It's binding for them, but not for you, so you should "accept" all offers and make your decision about which pre-match is your "favorite" before the match.

@MooMoo20 Did you already interview? I have an interview coming up in December, but otherwise, my email inbox has been incredibly quiet - no news from any school in the past few weeks. Can't tell if it's a problem on my end :/

CorrectIs it not until the morning of our interview day that we find out who we are interviewing with?
I've been getting a lot of emails also. I wonder if its bad if we don't reply to any lol. I just don't have any questions to ask
I think there was a paper in the packet they gave me with an address to send thank you notes to. I'm pretty sure it was just the admissions office and they would distribute it for you. I still don't have the paper, so maybe someone can clarify?Nothing was said at the interview day about sending thank you notes... I don't have any addresses or emails of my interviewers, did you all send thank you's?

I emailed my liaison several weeks ago and never got a response.MS1's/2's can volunteer as informal "liaisons" and receive 2-3 applicant's names and contact information for them to reach out to. If possible they try to pair applicants with similar students (same undergrad, both non-trad, whatever). None of the communication is relayed to the admissions committee. No need to respond if you don't want. But it's a good chance to ask questions and get unfiltered peer-to-peer answers.
BTW, 4 months into 3rd year now and, while I was pleased with my school choice before, I can recommend this school even more now. The new hospital wing is beautiful and high-tech. The vast, vast majority of residents and attendings have been great in every way. Reading on SDN I was prepared for all sorts of malignant residents and passive-aggressive nurses. Not the case at all. This isn't a school where the med students just sit in the corner and shadow. You're involved. You do procedures (or assist your intern if its early in the year). The culture is very down-to-earth and friendly. Every service is busy and full of patients, and they're really sick, which is good learning for you.
MS1/2 kinda suck everywhere. You're all excited to be a med student after the admissions ordeal, but you quickly realize you're still 2 years away from real medicine. Now it's just undergrad 2.0, double timed, with a couple monthly clinical skills afternoons. There are logistical frustrations and administrative gobbledygook policies that make you (temporarily) hate your school. 3rd year is so much better. I'm busier and have even less free time than I did the first two years, but I'm happier and it's easy to wake up in the mornings.
Me too. I am sure the students are just really busy! Fortunately I was able to email an alum from my college who answered my question.I emailed my liaison several weeks ago and never got a response.
