So anyone care to give some pros and cons to the Fairfax hospital?

Submitted. My essay was actually quite long so hopefully they don't get too bored.

So anyone care to give some pros and cons to the Fairfax hospital?

One thing for sure is that it can't be as dope as the main hospital in Richmond. I just graduated with my B.S. from VCU, and most students here seem to be from NOVA (Northern Virginia, including Fairfax), and I'm hoping the Fairfax hospital will appeal to those students that want to be closer to home. Hehe.

Quick question: when working on the prompt, did anyone find a good website to read up on what exactly they mean by complimentary medicine?

SUBMITTED. Ugh most annoying prompt ever. There was no direction for the question.

ok i hit over 4000 characters and think i answered the prompt so im gonna stop. I know quality > quantity, but what did they think would happen when they put 8000 characters

hey i just submitted but it says my letters aren't recieved that is normal right? i submitted my letters with my primary btw

As with many of the secondaries that seems to be the case.

Anyone on here apply early decision to VCU? My application processed on 6/27 but I have not received a secondary yet. For those who received secondaries already, when did your applications process?

I'm applying early decision as well... Processed 6/9 and no secondary yet. Don't worry, we will get one.

Because I've received 30+ private messages from people applying to VCU this cycle concerning the secondary prompt, let me go ahead and tell everyone the exact same thing I've told each and every single one of the people who have messaged me.

There is no "right" answer nor is VCU looking for one. As long as you can logically argue your points, you're fine.

For those curious, mine was about 3500 characters.

Good luck to you all!

Hi,

Can someone tell me what the secondary prompt is and how much the application fee is? My secondary seems to be having a little computer trouble.

Thanks

still waiting too. I want to write this essay, but I don't want to if I am not gonna get the secondary! My status has not changed on the website.

For what it's worth, I received the initial e-mail on June 27th and was given access to the secondary on July 2nd. I'm sure it will probably take a few days longer because of the holiday weekend, and I'm not sure if the lag time will increase as more applicants get verified, but hopefully this gives you all some idea of what kind of a wait to expect.

Wow are you guys really writing 8000 characters on this essay? Haven't started it yet but I doubt I can write that much
I did, but I didn't just answer the question. Feel like the limit was really 7990...

I also received an initial email June 27th, and a Secondary invite on July 2nd. My Amcas was verified on 6/18. I submitted today, and also sent my LoR's today. Hoping to be complete by end of week.

Also, was regular MD App, not ED.

Submitted, nowhere close to 8000 characters. Said everything succinctly lol 😛. Show me some love VCU!

I submitted AMCAS the first day and was verified 2 days later, but I still haven't received a secondary from VCU. I did get the initial "we have your application" e-mail but no secondary since then. Anyone else in the same boat?

Me...c'mon, VCU. Show me some love!

I just finished writing my secondary last night - the one about cancer/alternative medicine. I was going over it today with the intention to submit, when I noticed my prompt was also different.

Now it says, "Imagine that you are a family physician and are seeing a 15 year old girl for menstrual cramps. Her mother has accompanied her for this visit. When you examine the patient without her mother present, she tells you that she is sexually active. She begs you not to tell her mother because of her family’s strong values against teen sex. Discuss your next steps." (Limit - 1500 characters)

They mentioned that if you haven't submitted already, to do the new question. Perhaps you should call and clarify as well so we have more than one backing up this story!

I'll call now and post back.

That was a long glitch because I waited like 4 days to submit my secondary and I still had the old essay.. ugh

Admissions said that it was a glitch and that I should complete the new essay if I have not already submitted.

I guess it's a good thing I haven't started on the first prompt..I've been doing research and was planning to write the essay this week. I like this new prompt better though! Hopefully it will stay put and won't change again...

I submitted my secondary before the prompt was changed. I called them this morning and they said they noone would be penalized for doing that, in case people are wondering.
