Hey guys.

Has anyone heard of anyone submitted secondary this late then getting a phone ii followed by an on site ii and then finally an acceptance?

Do you think that's realistic? Not sure if I should submit this secondary...

Yeah. Someone in our class got in, but that person is a beast.

Submit asap.

Since my "advice" helped, I'll continue posting here. Thanks for letting me know it helped in some shape or form

Wait. So you're saying 59/60 students in ur class submitted their secondaries before Oct 1st?

I don't know when the deadline is. But I know at least one individual who applied pretty late in the cycle, but before the deadline. They got in, but their CV puts mine to shame (sort of 😉 )

We have 54 students in the inaugural class. I would guess that most applicants to most schools have submitted their applications before Oct 1.

I know this might be a stretch so no worries if you can't answer it but do you guys have any idea what the stats are like for the WMU students that were accepted last year? I have a 28, cGPA 3.71, sGPA 3.56 with good EC's & LoR's and am a WMU student so I'm just curious to how I compare to the WMU (or K-College) students in your class. I had my phone interview mid Sept. and am crossing my fingers that WMed is really committed to their own students and will extend me an on-campus invite soon haha. Thank you!

Yes, wmed is committed to their students, their 54 students. 😉

Check out the page on our statistics. I honestly don't know what our mcat range is off the top of my head. You would have to ask Jean in admissions for your situation.

I can say that these people consider more than numbers.

Okay thanks I appreciate it. From the class profile page my stats are in range, besides the mcat of course, but thats where I'm hoping the preferred WMU relation comes into play haha. And I would ask Jean but I have a feeling that question might be too personal to disclose so I figured I'd try on here first

Hi all sorry if this info has already been posted I tried to look through the old posts but couldn't really find much. Does anyone have a sense of how long it usually takes to hear back regarding from WMed on an interview invite after completing the phone interview?

See you guys here. Let us know here what you think of wmed

Just interviewed today and holy crap that place is amazing! The building and facilities are immaculate and state of the art. It is extremely spacious too, which will be nice when the school starts to fill up more. It is obvious how knowledgable the faculty and staff are, and it is apparent how much time they spent crafting curriculum to be the most conducive for producing great clinicians. Even though it is a new school, it has a good base to quickly become a great school. I was really impressed with the day. Plus, the day was very relaxed overall.

Another current WMed student here. I submitted my primary application on November 1, and my secondary in December. I interviewed early March and was accepted late March. While I'm a terrible role model for how to time an application cycle, the point is that Oct. isn't too late to submit a secondary. It's still relatively early in the interview season, you might be a bit behind the curve but not late enough to give up.

Thanks for the reply! That's encouraging! I hope you're enjoying med school! 🙂

I interviewed here recently and was impressed with the thought and planning that has gone into this school. The facility is beautiful and specifically designed to implement their curriculum. The curriculum itself and the teaching philosophy is impressive. It was clear that they spent a lot of time researching best practices. The faculty that we met were enthusiastic and clearly had designed the teaching content and style to prepare the students to excel as physicians and do well on the LCME step 1 test. The interview day itself was great. The MMI's were enjoyable and the students were great to talk with. Jean Shelton the director of admissions was super kind. Kalamazoo is a great city. Super low cost of living. Housing affordable and traffic is light. The community is really engaged in the medical school.

Anyone else complete end of August and have yet to have holistic review started?

I finished my telephone interview today at 3:00 pm; how long after you completed your telephone interview did it take for you to receive the on-campus II?

I and a couple other people I talked to on the interview day said they heard back within a couple days. Specifically, I did my phone interview on a Monday afternoon and got the on-campus II that Wednesday.

Thanks for that info ecologyman. I'm curious...does the school inform you of post phone interview rejections? Has anyone experienced that yet?

For the record, I did my phone interview last week and still no response back. Although my portal says my phone interview was completed October 1st...

Mine was almost a month ago lol

I'm definitely curious about the answer to this as well

I don't believe it's an accept/reject matter.

I'm only a current student, so I don't have 100% of the picture... but my understanding is it looks something like this:

They do 100 (or however many) phone interviews. They now have a pool of 10o applicants to choose from for the in-person interviews. They pick 50 and interview those.

Then they do another 100. They now have a pool of 150 people to choose from for the in-person interviews. They pick 50 and interview those.

Then they do another 100 phone interviews. Now they have a pool of 200 people to choose from (everybody who has been phone interviewed thus far). They pick 50 and interview those.

Etc etc etc.

Last year I was complete in August, phone interview in November, in-person in February and was accepted shortly therafter. So the phone interview is not an immediate accept/reject thing, nor do you want it to be an immediate accept/reject thing.

It looks like they usually send out phone interviews and on-site interviews in waves, at least from what I've seen on sdn. I haven't seen any invites here lately so I'm hoping that they'll send out another wave soon. I had my phone interview here on 9/24 and am really hoping to hear back! I've heard great things about this place.

Congrats to all those who already have onsite interviews and to the rest of you anxiously waiting, I know how you feel.

Finished my phone interview also yesterday. It took total an hour and 20 minutes 🙁.. I got less nervous as it went on and stopped rambling. The lady was kind and kept telling me to give "concise" answers.. lol

Very curious as to how this will turn out to be 😛

I interviewed here and was completely blown away. I loved the interview (one of my favorites so far) and was really impressed by everything. The facilities are beautiful and really modern, the students seem truly happy to be at WMed, the faculty were all super friendly and knowledgable. I felt like everyone there was so happy to be there and so excited for us (interviewees) to be there. After my interview day, WMed has jumped wayyyy up on my list!

After you all completed the phone interview how long did it take for your status page to reflect that it was complete?

If I didn't receive an interview and my review was complete 9/1, does that mean i'm on hold?

Glad everyone liked our facilities. I think we have one of the best Sim labs in the nation, with lots of donated equipment from Stryker.

We get more time in the Sim lab during our first month then what other medical students get all 4 years. So if you want practice before you work on real patients, then WMed is the place for you.

Second month and we are already in the clinics seeing real patients

Hi guys!

I was wondering if anyone had a perspective about this:

I recently was complete, then the day after holistic review started, and then the day immediately after that the holistic review was complete.

I am a well-rounded applicant that fits the mission of Stryker and was pleased to be part of their holistic review. Does anyone know anything about such a short time period (e.g one day) for being holistically reviewed? Did they not like my application at all? I skimmed through this school thread and realized many of ya'll who've received phone interviews have gone through multiple days of holistic review.

Sorry for the neuroticism. Just thought I'll get some opinions. 🙂

Skim the thread here again, this is also discussed multiple times. I'd suggest that your stress might be making you overlook it 😛

Scheduled for 11/11. Earliest date available was 11/6. Plenty of spots left in November for phone interviews! Good luck at your interview Bbroush!

Ok cool thanks. I know its annoying to ask. But I just love the idea of being able to attend this school, and having recently completed my phone II I'm just itching to hear back from them. I know patience is more than a virtue, but a rule when it comes to application season, but man is it hard.

Great interview today!
Very laid back as they really want to know if you share the same values as the school. So the best advice is to be yourself. Amazing facilities and nice friendly faculty. A little surprised but excited that decisions will go out within a month.
Oh, and they had delicious cookies during lunch!!!🙂
Good luck yall!!!
