2015-2016 Drexel University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Everyone from my interview day had one half hour interview.. Maybe it's different for you?

You only get to see the medical school campus, which is just one big building. It's far from the main (undergrad) campus, the hospital, or the city, so I recommend exploring on your own if you have time. I'd say I found Drexel a great fit for me, because 1) their curriculum is amazing, esp PIL, 2) very high-tech: you'll hear all about their phone apps and websites and all, 3) you can get best of both urban/suburban lives, depending on where you choose to live (the hospital is in the city, the medical campus is outside the city, public transportation is great), 4) you get to spend your clinical clerkship year in multiple different locations, 5) everyone seems very supportive, genuine, talented, fun - with 250+ people, you'll always find a great group of people to hang out with/study with/do whatever you'd like to do. One of the medical students ended the tour with "choose where you can find support, because medical school is going to be tough," which is a great advice.

Define great 😛 SEPTA has its issues, but got me to my interview okay, haha.

Does anyone know how the Spring hold works? Do they review the "held" applicants in the order they were "held?" Is it random or in GPA/MCAT order? Or a different order?

"Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University."

Anyone have an idea of how long between this status and a decision (post II)?

I've had that since I submitted (albeit I submitted pretty late) but it took like 4 months for me to get a new status of your file has been reviewed and they won't give me an interview now but it's on hold for re-review.

Sorry I should have included that this is post-II

they said you'll be notified about 8 weeks after your interview

"Thank you for your application. Your file has been reviewed by a member of our Admissions Committee. While we have decided not to invite you for an interview at this time, we would like to re-evaluate your application again in the spring should interview spots remain. We have many completed applications to review and wish to hold on a final decision on your application until later in the cycle. Again, thank you for your interest in Drexel College of Medicine."

Any successs with the spring hold?

Interviewed in the beginning of December and still haven't heard anything! :bang:

Anybody who interviewed already remember if there's a security desk or some other safe place for me to leave luggage during interview day?

There's a closet in the admissions office that you can leave your luggage in, I don't think it locks though but most of the interviewees (including me) left their luggage in there.
Edit: maybe someone else knows if there's another place to leave your luggage instead

Wait my status just changed today to "a decision has been made and a letter had been mailed to your preferred address" eeeeek

I think that might be a rejection sadly :/ (not to be negative or anything) hoping for the best for you!

I say this because at my interview today, the woman told us we'd get an email of acceptance before an official letter arrived in the mail.

I had the same thing happen, and ended up being waitlisted - so it's not necessarily a rejection!! I also know of people who in the past few weeks got that status, then received an acceptance letter in the mail (without receiving an email). So it really could go either way. 🙂

Okay then! Ignore what I said lol. Probably not accurate

So I just interviewed on 1/28 and I have this status:

Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University.

Does this mean I will be hearing back soon?

Mine just changed this past week from that to something about the admissions committee reviewing it and still no decision has been made. Have you seen an update?

For those accepted, how long did you hear back from the status changing?

Like 3 weeks? It was a while.

yeah it took about a week to change to a decision has been made.

Does the portal change for those who have been accepted/waitlisted? (other than a decision has been made)

If you're waitlisted and sign and return the letter they send you to accept your waitlist spot, the portal updates to say "Thank you for confirming your intention to remain on the Drexel Admissions waiting list. "

Ah, status today changed to "The Admissions Committee has reached a decision on your application. A letter will be mailed to your preferred address." It had been under review by the committee for about a week now.

Good luck/happy vibes going your way!

It's been nearly 2 weeks since my file has been with the admissions committee! Is that bad?!
