2015-2016 Drexel University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So I submitted two days ago and just realized that I forgot to put average hours per week for ALL of my activities on the secondary application! Most of this information was already mentioned in my primary application though. Does anyone think I should email the admissions office and try to get the info added to my file or just let it slide??

  • You may select a maximum of 3 competencies for each course or activity. (competencies is there biology, physics, chem, stats.)
Not sure what this means?

Does it mean for each course you can only put it in 3 competencies. or do I only pick 3 competencies to fill out?

I interpreted that as meaning that each course can be in a maximum of three categories. Basically they don't want you trying to use one course to fulfill too many competencies at once.

Has anyone who was verified after August 1st gotten a secondary yet? I know they're coming out slowly, but I was just trying to gauge when I may FINALLY be done with this grueling process. Thanks!

Haha I was verified mid-June and I still haven't gotten it 😛

Still waiting as well, July 30th verification

I am working on this secondary and I didnt take a statistics course in my undergrad. I did do heavy research experience for credit, does anyone know if I can count that towards the statistics credit/should I complete the secondary since I don't have stats?

I would go ahead and give admissions a call. But, if I remember correctly, there is a section after the course section where you can justify how you completed a certain course requirement i.e. using research to show stats competency

For those who have gotten an II, how long did it take for you to receive an invite once your file was marked as complete?

on my AMCAS I listed my research forums as a total of 75 hours because making the posters etc.. but any suggestion of what I should put for weekly hours? I didnt work on the posters every week because the forums were sporadic! thanks!

How does one go back in time to count how many hours of things they did per week.
.
.
.
HOW.

Serious question: for honors, you put just 0 hours for those, right?
Second question: why is there BIOL, CHEM, BEHV, etc next to the activities?
Sorry, this website made by a 13 year old and the app kinda freaked me out for a second.

1. If you don't remember how many hours per week, just divide the hours you have from AMCAS by the number of weeks you participated in the activity and put that number down. I don't think it will be a big deal.
2. Yeah, honors are 0 hours.
3. No clue. Maybe if one of your activities was TAing for a class or something?

I'm sure this has been answered already.. but whats the difference between these 2 questions...?

2. Has your education to date been continuous?

3. If you graduated more than six months ago, please tell us what you have been doing since graduation.

If I graduated more than 6 months ago (May 2014) does that mean that my educated to date has not been continuous? And how do I answer those differently in terms of describing the interruption if it is?

I'm pretty sure someone called the school and a discontinuous education would be time off during college or between high school and college. Use the third question to discuss what you've been doing since graduation.

Neither of these questions apply to me, but from other people's answers, if you did not take any breaks between high school and college or during college, and you haven't had any education after college, then your education is continuous.

EDIT: @Yolanda beat me to it, haha.

What program did you all use to resize the photo? Ugh 200kb is roughhhh

Drexel doesn't screen at all. You'll get your 2º eventually.

Mac OS has a program called ColorSync Utility, you can just open your JPG file with that and export the image at a lower quality.

So, I got the secondary probably the first day they sent them out.
I fill out the entire thing, but apparently I never submitted it. Unbelievable.

You can make a photo 2x2 if you edit your photo in the Photos app on the iPhone

For checking off of the pre-reqs.... should students check off ALL bio courses or just the intro ones?

They emailed me to resubmit the secondary yesterday (like 2 wks after I first finalized it) because there was a glitch where the activity hr's didn't show up the first time.

it says "with a focus on molecular and cellular" so I included my cell bio class, evolution and physiology because all of those classes started off by learning about cell physiology

Well apparently i saved it. Never hit submit.

Submitted the secondary last night! how long until it is processed to complete?

For those of you asking about what coursework to check for the English Language/Writing Skills competency: I emailed admissions and was told only to check those that pertained to English, not my proficiency in other languages. Hope that helps!

Same thing happened with me and I am almost positive I pressed submit the first day..

So basically if I did NOT have a disjointed education, then I should say "refer to question below".... but since I graduated 3 years ago, I should state what I've been doing in the 3rd question?

Is that right guys? Sorry the two questions seem so similar.
