and Im supposed to know this How? I was never told anything about how scholarships were dispersed. Also I have received mail from Howard and I know people that have gotten calls from Howard. You act like Howard released a guide on how they hand out scholarships.

But obviously you are Mr. Howard Med so go you, congrats!

How long after you were accepted/completed financial aid app did you receive that email? And is this 18 per year or total? Sorry if I'm getting too personal (PM me if you feel comfortable answering). I'd love to go to Howard but $$ is an issue and I'm trying to gauge how much giving actually happens...

For those of you still awaiting the "out of committee" email, the committee meetings are usually held on Thursdays. Yesterday's committee meeting (4/7/2016) was cancelled by the Administrator, and an extended committee meeting will take place next Thursday (4/14/2016). They are currently "two months behind" - whatever that means - and have about 80 interviewee packets still to review at this point. However, there are "still plenty of seats". Typically what happens during the committee meetings: once an interviewee's packet has gone "out of committee", Sharmon starts "churning out decision letters" and will begin notifying prospective students once their "decision letter has been signed". The decision is not official until it has been signed by the Dean of Admissions, but students can contact Sharmon directly to learn of their "unofficial" decision. Sharmon's contact information can be found at the link below, but please be advised that "due to the crush of applications", they have very limited calling hours restricted to Monday, Thursday and Friday only.

Do i assume rejection if I have not received an interview yet? I know Howard has a long cycle, but it seems improbable that they continue to give out interviews mid april? Does anyone know? 🙁 I hope there are still invites to come

It looks like 4/27 is the last interview day...have u tried sending an update letter?

I would....but they don't pick up so that may not be the best strategy unfortunately lol I would send an email, but in all honesty two weeks out of the last interview dates...they prob should sent out their last invites by now. They usually send them at least two weeks prior.

anyone else see a financial aid award on bisonweb? I checked online and I saw money, a decent amount, in scholarship. But I havent received an email or anything.
Im a Howard alum and the award name is listed as HUSF- Legacy which is the scholarship I had for undergrad so idk if its a glitch or not.
Anyone know if the med school has a separate fin aid office (and if so whats the number) or if I can call the university's main fin aid office?

I received an email stating that I received a scholarship but it isn't showing on bisonweb yet. The email said that the scholarship would not show on bisonweb until the first week in July due to the school's award guidelines.

Yeah they are separate. The college of medicine's financial aid office number is 202-806-0699. The financial aid Director's name is Dr. Rozanna Aitcheson her email is [email protected]. She's pretty accessible and good at picking up the phone and answering emails.

Where on bisonweb can I find financial aid info? Not a Howard alum

My MCAT is average, but 3.93 GPA, many extracurriculars, a research publication, lots of shadowing/volunteer experience & trained in rodent neurosurgery (research purposes haha).
 
Congrats to all those accepted to medical school and good luck to all those waiting for an interview. Howard is a great school and I believe they still will be going for interview until about the 2nd week of May. If you haven't gotten a rejection yet, you may still be in the running. Be sure to update with any new grades, MCAT scores, etc... Good luck and message me if you have any questions!!!
 
I got the security certify email yesterday don't know if that means I got in or what?? Lol

Hi sweetness34 , so April 27th is not the last interview day?
 
can anyone comment on the interview day they attended this week? or can speak on any updates from the interviews this week?
