Can anyone comment about the medical student interview? Online it says they only ask three questions:

"CHM uses two types of interview assessments: a one-on-one, 30-minute structured interview with a current medical student where you will be asked to address three questions and a multiple mini-interview (MMI)."

Am I interpreting correctly? Thanks!

Does anyone know where I can find match list data for this school?

Anyone know if we can send pre-interview updates? I tried calling and the person on the phone was very vague about it and asked me the details of the update almost like she was rating its usefulness (it is a publication so kind of significant). The adcom office did not give me a definitive answer.

Their website states no updates are taken

Pre-interview, correct aspiringmed? When was your file complete?

Ahhhh why have so many of us been passed over? I would almost rather be put on hold than have deafening silence.

Edit to say: forwarded for preliminary review late August.

Oh my lord they're going to review me any second now. If I don't post for a while it's because I'm in the fetal position on my bedroom floor eating ice cream and staring at my inbox.

How do you know the time that they are going to review you?

Prepare to be eating a lot of ice cream then.

Complete since early August....

So I have seen a couple of people post about being placed on hold pre-interview. . .I was forwarded for review on 7/28 and haven't heard anything. . .does MSU do silent rejections/if I haven't been offered an II or put on hold is there any chance they are even still looking at my application. Just trying to decode the cryptic process that is waiting to hear from medical schools. . .

Me too buddy. My guess is they haven't even looked at our apps. The lot of us who have been passed up are probably the bottom dwellers of whatever sorting algorithm they are running. When they need to offer an another II, then they start reviewing bottom dweller apps. Ultimately, we have all been marked as sub-par. People like @aspiringmed must have some quality that fits whatever gap they are trying to fill.

Keep pulling cards until you find the one you want. No need to consider ever card.

Edit: Sorry to call you out @aspiringmed

Aspiringmed above said his file was complete 9/9 and he was just placed on hold. That was likely the first time they reviewed his file. My file was complete shortly after 9/9, so they should be getting to it very soon.

If your file was complete before 9/9, you very likely have already been reviewed and are still in the running.

You're telling me they reviewed my app back in August, decided i'm still in the running and placed me on hold while not officially placing me on hold. Then months later they got to aspiringmed, decided he wasn't in the running, and officially placed him on hold? Can you use a deck of cards metaphor? I think everyone agrees my deck of cards metaphor was spot on.

I was forwarded for prelim review 7/28 and placed on a hold a few days ago.

Okay okay, I'll succumb to your optimism. This a tough field and not many people understand that. No point in bringing everyone down. Good luck to those of you on hold. Let us know if you get called up to the bigs.

For me, I've been complete ever since 8/14.
It only says "Forwarded for Preliminary Review" and hasn't changed.

I'm not too sure on how to interpret that. Is silence better or is "placed on hold" better?

That's the question many of us are wondering as well. It's pretty obvious that they are not reviewing applications in order of completion date, since people have received all sorts of decisions--II, hold, reject--already while others who were forwarded for preliminary review long ago, including you and me, haven't heard a peep.

At this point, I'm going to go ahead and say that both silence and "hold" statuses mean we are still theoretically in consideration, which is better than outright rejection, which several applicants have gotten so far. If I speculate any further about all of these school's admissions protocols my brain might pop! :dead:

I agree with all of this! I just wish they would tell us what it all means!

Have any of the accepted people gotten their acceptance packet in the mail? Dr. Maurer said we'd get something in a few days when he called and this was a few weeks ago.

Didn't he just say we'll be getting a confirmation email about our conditional acceptance? And then some time in January we'll get a formal acceptance after the CBC?

Yeah, I remember him saying that, but I could've sworn he said something about a packet being mailed too. Maybe I misheard in that moment of extreme excitement lol

Does anyone know how active the wait list is? And whether it's ranked or unranked?

Anyone else interviewing on the 20th??

Also, does anyone who has already completed an interview have any recommendations for hotels/accomodations that isn't overly expensive?

I believe it's unranked. I found this on last year's thread. I would expect there to be a little more movement this year due to the new curriculum. I know some people are skeptical about it and others really like it so who knows.

Is there any Facebook group for accepted students?

Any idea if they will make an official group, or if there will just be an unofficial one that a student starts (I've seen both for other schools)? Let me know if you end up finding anything, I'd like to join 🙂

I'll see you there! Not sure about the hotel sorry, I'm staying with some friends at Grand Valley State University nearby.
