Has anybody actually been able to get ahold of anyone on the phone? I’ve called the admissions office many times throughout the past couple of weeks to ask about waitlist movement and no one has picked up a single time.

They will just tell you the exact same thing they said in emails. They won’t communicate about waitlist movement until it happens. My buddy who currently attends got up in the middle of his first week of DO lectures at a different program to start packing as he got accepted to MSU MD the week before orientation. That’s just how it goes as an applicant and giving them more things to reply to won’t speed up the process.
Additionally, they said they would release applicants from the waitlist in about a week or two. They have given a timeline and if you aren’t in that next batch of rejections you have a shot, but your next app should be submitted now anyways just in case.

Is it true that they send a mass R email out and if you’re not included there’s a good chance you could be pulled of WL?
By the definition if you haven’t been rejected, then yes. It’s important to note that most schools have seen little to no waitlist movement this year and MSU said they were not expecting to take off many. They also typically wait until after secondaries “should be submitted” so they can get another lump of cash from students, even if they are accepted.
