2015-2016 Michigan State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So I did call and basically they gave me an "oh, oops!" Great. Now I lost two months of a rolling admissions cycle
Complete the app, get an II, get accepted, go to their school, become a doctor... then when the alumni dept calls asking for donations, send them a check with a red exclamation mark and "Oops" on the memo. Long con m8.

Luckily for you, MSU CHM doesn't do rolling admissions so it won't really matter when you interview. Good thing this didn't happen to you at a school that does do rolling admissions though!

Oh wow. Someone in admissions told me that a person interviewing late in the cycle has the same chance as someone interviewing early. I have heard that they do a good job leaving spots open for people who interview late so you really are never interviewing for a spot on the waitlist. Hopefully that's true for you.

Canadian applicant. Forwarded for pre-review on Sept 1. REALLY hoping I get some positive vibes from MSUCHM (I got some from MSUCOM). I used to live in Troy for like 14 years, and I am itching to come back to mah home state!

I also heard they don't do rolling admissions. At my interview I asked specifically. The host said there was no forced distribution in the process meaning X students admitted from 9/25 and X from10/2 interview dates. However, she said the first wave would be notified of acceptance ~10/15. We shall see!

The anticipation is killing me already! These are the admissions decision notification dates: http://mdadmissions.msu.edu/ApplicationProcess/current/select_process.htm

"DO NOT submit additional materials or updates. The college accepts additional information only when an applicant is placed in the alternate pool after interview or by Committee request. We believe that the AMCAS application you initially submitted is representative of your academic abilities and activities."

Interviewed here recently. Overall, the day was very positive and fun (especially the MMI). However, the curriculum change is drastic and I think this will be a deal-breaker for a lot of people. I did not realize how much the curriculum would be changing prior to my interview day and if there was one thing I could change, it would be that I did more research on this beforehand so I had the important questions to ask readily available.

What's an ITA email?

"in the area". I just sent an email stating I was in the area and that if they are interested in interviewing me at that time it would be preferred! They responded back saying those dates were full but offered some other dates. It's kind of a good way of confirming your interest, especially at schools where you are higher than their average stats. MSU is an awesome school so I'm thrilled!

Has anyone gotten an interview as an OOS with no ties to the state? Wondering if I should try.. 2.4% OOS interviewed seems too low.. but my stats are competitive

Im OOS with ties I did not mention and I am hopeful

Received a II here on Friday however I will be withdrawing so I hope it goes to someone here. Good luck!

Congrats to you on MSU DO. Great Program. I bet it is good to know so early where you will be next year. Cheers.

Thank you very much, I'm very excited. And yes it is very nice to know now, the feeling of chaos due to not having a plan is slowly subsiding haha

Going to interview Thursday! Really silly question but will there be a place to put our belongings such as our car keys? Super nervous but excited to see how the MMI goes!

Yes. You will meet in a room where you may keep your belongings.

Yes, upon review of your application they either offer you an invite, put you on hold, or reject you. So there's still hope for you!

Mind sharing when you were complete?

My status says forwarded for preliminary review, and when I click document status there is a blank page shouldn't it say letters received or something?
