2015-2016 Rutgers University - RWJMS Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
No my friend interviewed in December and got called a week later, I guess bc she was at the end of that block? A current m1 interviewed in jan and got called about 6 weeks later in mid Feb. That's why I'm wondering even though I know they are supposed to do block admissions.
I don't think they did block admissions last year. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
correct. its been mentioned a few times on this thread

Just got the call! Accepted! Good luck everyone, looks like they are starting to call people today!!!

Congrats! You must feel so awesome today! When did you interview? I wonder if they go in order of interview dates.

Thank you! I interviewed in February, so not sure what order they are going in. Hope you hear good news as well if you are waiting!

I got a missed call from Dr. T around 12:30 PM, and she left me a voicemail with some good news! So happy to get accepted at my top choice!!! Best wishes to everyone else who's waiting to hear back!

Waitlisted today. Interviewed early January. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back.

+3

Is there two different waitlist? Anyone know how many are on the high priority?
I assume a decent number of people, although not everyone who interviewed. Earlier in the thread there were rejections reported post interview as well as previous year's threads. By today, RWJ, as per AAMC terms, should have at least extended enough acceptances to fill each spot once. Waitlist movement happens when accepted students rescind their acceptance.

did it specify high priority on anyone's email? mine just says alternate list

Mine said just alternate list as well. From previous threads, it appears that being on the high-priority waitlist means that they make a decision in the coming weeks on whether to place you on the waitlist or to give you an acceptance.

This is what it said on mine.

At this point in time the Committee has voted to place your application on our high priority alternate list. Currently the class is overbooked but it has been the experience of the Admissions Office that as accepted applicants accept other positions and withdraw from our class, we are indeed able to offer acceptances to applicants on our high priority alternate list. Such actions usually occur in the spring or early summer months.

Ahh well I'm super happy to be even considered. Although it's not a positive for me in terms of WL movement, I really love that many people consider RWJMS their top choice. Hope to hear good news in the spring/summer.

Does anyone know where I can find the RWJ 2016 Match List? I'm checking their website, and can't seem to find it.

The match lists at RWJMS are truly impressive. Most schools I interviewed at keep saying they have the best curriculum but that is not always reflected in the match list.

Can a current student please explain some of the factors that contribute to the consistently great match lists at RWJMS?

4 people to CHOP?! That's impressive. High priority alternate here but OOS so tuition may stop me from going if accepted.

Did you ask about alternate lists in general or did you specify high priority wait list?

I believe today is the day accepted students should hear back about the Chancellor's Scholarship...if anyone hears good news, 1) Congratulations! and 2) can you let us know?!

I was wondering about this too... I thought we would have been notified even if we didn't get it, but got nothing so far.

I was wondering this too! I was about to post something similar on the Facebook group, but then I figured that it wouldn't be appropriate LOL.

Maybe we need to email admissions and ask...just need to decide when is appropriate. hmm haha

Just received an e-mail from Dr. Copeland that the winners had been notified last week

rumor has it that they've overaccepted again, and waitlist movement is unlikely

Where did you hear this? Almost every school 'over accepts' with initial acceptances

uh I'm a M1 here, and I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned on this thread that our year was way overenrolled which is why your class was supposed to be smaller, but apparently it's overenrolled again

Interesting, I spoke to Dr Copeland a week ago and she mentioned that they were incredibly conservative with acceptances this year and that she expects waitlist movement this time around.

I spoke to her to and she said there would be some movement on the waitlist as well. I don't think we can conclude anything until after April 30th.

I think listening to Dr. Copeland would be the best idea considering she is part of the admissions staff.

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to send updates/letter of interest if you're on the regular priority wait list?

Are you on the regular or high priority or competitive hold waitlist?

I would think things that are likely to effect your position on the waitlist like grades/publications/scores would be helpful. People seem to say that LOI generally are not too helpful without new information.

I heard from someone who heard from Dean T, so who knows! I'm guessing Dr. Copeland is accurate though

match list

strong work. wish I was at robert wood now instead of where I am haha

also, "overacceptance" happens at Robert Wood Johnson almost every year. Last year they overfilled their class, and had to offer people incentives to delay enrollment until this year's class.

no, not almost every year... last year they were trying to increase the class size a bit and majorly overshot it (we're abou 200). this year they were aiming for 160 I believe but may have overshot again

Congrats! were you accepted off the waitlist?

Yes. "High priority alternate list." Interviewed Feb. 1. They told me that they would have accepted me straight through had they not overbooked last year/had they received my application earlier. I was surprised because I thought I bombed the RWJ interview... literally thought it was my worst interview out of all 5.
