or your reviewers haven't gotten back with a decision yet. UA phoenix is very good at not dragging people along.

If I may ask though @BamaNicole, how long was your wait? when did you roughly submit? It's been a approximately 2 months for me :hungover:

Well the thing is I applied two years ago so my submission date won't really help you. It's cycle dependent. I submitted though in late July/early August and heard back mid to late september.

Just looking at the admissions tracking, there are a lot more applications this cycle then when I applied.

If you look at previous years, this school hands out rejections regularly. It's not like other schools that keep your application active till May and then dump you. So truly, no news is good news. My class is filled with people that interviewed across all dates, not just those who got the early ones.

Is UA Phoenix not rolling admissions?

@TheLionheart

But doesn't Phoenix give out 120 II for OoS according to MSAR?? according to the tracker they already have >1/3 of the OOS interviews filled since 2 weeks ago.

While reading applications tonight, I want to help you protect yourself from an inexperienced and/or lazy letter writer. I just read the shortest letter ever - one (incomplete) sentence from a "full professor" of a highly technical neuroscience field. Sad, very sad that this person could not do an applicant any good and arguably damages an applicants chances.

So. Before you request a letter, meet with the person. Interview them. Ask how many letters do they typically write each cycle and be cautious if they say "many" or "I don't typically offer letters." Either response means they will not be a strong advocate for you.

Walk through your CV with them, explain why you are pursuing medicine and what about your character as a student will make you an ideal physician in training.

We will accept ~10-12 students in each of our 10 admission rounds staring in Oct and ending in Feb. unless I'm misunderstanding, this is how we "roll out" our offers.

Although I am fortunate that I can give my referees the benefit of the doubt because I have two IIs at my state schools, I pity the applicants who use these references. While I understand that some circumstances may cause the referees to write a sub-par letter, I wonder if those referees remember that they needed qualified and telling letters at one point in their lives and encourage themselves to reciprocate the effort like their PIs and thesis advisors, or said "no" at the minimum. Irregardless, I hope the applicant does well with the cards that (s)he was dealt this cycle.

When will we be updated about the number interviews given?

Your time is much appreciated, Dr. Cunningham!

I had two neuroscience professors provide LORs for me. Eek! Paranoia is at an all time high. Both have written letters for me for scholarships/awards and they were well written so I'm hoping it's not me!!

When you guys go to your status page, what does it say?
mine says "interview not scheduled yet" and i just thought this was weird because on other schools that use the same AMP interface it either says something like under review or it gave me a place to schedule. I just didn't know if maybe this meant i was like on hold for interview? any thoughts?

I believe everyone has it. In my understanding, it doesn't mean anything one way or another. It's just an optimistic way to say your application is being reviewed.

Means nothing. Someone else asked the exact same question a few pages back.

II yesterday, IS. Completed 9/4

I'm not sure whether or not my call to their admissions office earlier this week brought my application to the forefront. But since I was having troubles with my emails this past week, I was checking my portal and saw this lock symbol on my account for "Interview Date" under the Status tab. So I called their admissions office to see if that meant, they were super nice and told me know that the committee was still reviewing my application. But a couple of days later I got an interview invite 🙂!

You got an interview today? Man this is frustrating... I have been waiting for 10 weeks for them but I am OOS

Edit: I am surprised the Admissions office is working on a Saturday...that is dedication...:wideyed:

I received the email on Thursday.

IS complete on 9/10...saw someone complete on 9/12 got an interview last week. is it time to panic yet?

Does anyone think this month's batch of rejections is coming soon 🙁?

It might be this week 🙁 . I think it was mentioned that rejections are sent out monthly and last month it looks like people got rejections on the 15th.

Anybody mind chiming in on if it would be too late to submit my secondary app for the school? I'm a Cali resident! Thank you.

Maybe, per their page they already gave out 85 OOS interviews when last year they gave out ~ 130.

I hate to sound negative but I feel like I've been forgotten....the admissions officers must think I am another generic resume.... 😢

For those who already interviewed...Dr. Cunningham mentioned that the first acceptances would start Oct. 19th, right?

Don't know if Oct. 19 applies to everyone. When I interviewed Sept. 14, we were told the earliest we would hear anything would be Nov. 2.

Sorry that you feel forgotten - never our intention. We are beginning to move decisions out bi-monthly, including post-interview decisions, as well as those who will not be granted an interview. Today was also the last day to submit an AMCAS for this cycle, so we hope things begin to slow down over the next few weeks. Supplemental deadline is Dec 1.

Our work is at full-steam right now. Not whining, but sharing so that you know it's not an attack on premeds.

---5000+ AMCAS received
---3000+ supplemental received
---Hundreds of files being screened weekly
---In the thick of interviews
---Just completed round 1 acceptance decisions

LOTS happening in admission offices, nation-wide.

Patience is a virtue. Stick with us, and your other schools. Remain positive, professional and keep working hard and serving your community. Do not let up on this goal, even if it's not realized this cycle.

As a coach (mentor, not athletic - haha, so not a track athlete!) once said to me, "run through the tape." Never quit until the race is over.
