I have a couple friends on adcom and I interview students from time to time... I don't think we accept more from later interview dates, I think that people from later interview dates tend to stick around more and therefore the class tends to be made more from applicants that interviewed later.

The logic here is that almost anyone that applied to UCI will attend their interview if they are offered in August, but anyone offered an interview in February will not attend unless 1) UCI is better than their current offers 2) they REALLY like UCI and have a reason to be here (family, location, etc...).

TLDR Acceptance rate stays about the same, but retention ratio probably changes across the interview cycle.

lol..just got an email saying I was on the alternate list. I knew about this since like...Oct. Kinda feels like rubbing it in but it's okay! I think I've kind of convinced myself I was probably not getting off the waitlist and am not getting my hopes up.
 
anyone know how long after acceptance the deposit is required?
budgeting my month...
 
still not a peep from uci. been complete for 5+months complete 🙂

Yeah I got that email around the same time too, so cruel! Hoping we both get off the waitlist--you never know... it looks like you have an acceptance too so at least we're going somewhere... UCI would be nice though

I was early December. I think they said at the interview possibly mid to end January was when we would hear, but I can't remember exactly. I'm sure it will be longer than a month's time though due to the holiday season. Either way the anticipation is killing me

does UCI accept pre-II updates? (letter of interest, transcript, letter of reference)

I sent one in November and was told it will be added to my file.

I interviewed in December as well and they told us that due to Christmas break we'd likely hear back in Feb
 
Interviewing here in a few weeks. Does anyone who's already been through it have any info as to the format of the interview or any advice?

The interview day is very relaxed. A nice orientation in the morning, then a tour, then a one on one lunch interview with a student, then your faculty interview. Everyone is nice and the interviews are very conversational and meant to be genuine.

Hope this is not too late but our school does not require a deposit to reserve your seat (neither do the other UC's if I remember correctly). Just submit the SIR form online (instructions in your mailed acceptance package) to reserve your spot. But remember to drop your spot by April 30th if you don't plan to attend so those on the wait list can see some movement!

Do you know if there is a second look/revisit day? And when that might be?

Last year, we did not have a second look because the final interview day was very late (April 27th). However, our school did have second look days in previous years. There may be a second look this year if we end our interview season early. I would contact admissions in 1-2 months to ask if there is actually one this year.
 
Are there any II's that are still due to go out here?

There might be an issue with the portal for any mid-November interviewees. I called and was told I was on the alternate list (wah...) and was supposed to receive an email. Did not find it in my spam but it might be coming soon.
 
Has anyone received any information/instructions of what to do Post-Acceptance?

After submitting the Intent to Register, what else should be done?

Alternate list earlier today. Interviewed 12/7. Pretty bummed about this one.
