Rejected. Sigh. California schools not showing any love.
Hold oos, do people actually come off this hold for II?
Just placed on hold post-secondary. Complete mid-Nov. I guess I joined the rest of the group from today. *sigh* =\. Does anyone know if a lot of those on hold eventually get an interview?
I looked through last years thread a bit, it looks like, from what I saw, that only a few applicants were pulled of the pre-interview hold listed and invited to interview. That being said, the pre-interview hold certainly isn't a passive rejection and I would say chances of receiving an interview off this list are about the same as your chances of receiving an interview at the begging of the cycle were.+1, IS, LizzyM around 73-74
Hoping someone can comment on this
Haha hope so! Thanks for your help 🙂I looked through last years thread a bit, it looks like, from what I saw, that only a few applicants were pulled of the pre-interview hold listed and invited to interview. Unfortunately, you need to get into the MD program before being considered for PRIME! I feel that is kind of flawed and that more schools should follow after UCLA with separate applications for PRIME and CDURejected as well. Complete early September.
I applied to their PRIME program as well. Does anyone know if this means an automatic rejection for their prime program too?

I'm going to have to disagree with this on some level - I think the chance of receiving an interview is much different than the chance of receiving one at the beginning of the cycle.
They've looked at our applications and have decided to not reject us - we are already above a very large group of applicants.
I was actually really happy receiving the news - it means there's still a chance! Good luck everyone!
Just wondering, how do you know if you're on the "pre-interview hold?" An email or simply the fact that you haven't been rejected yet? And is this a school-by-school kind of thing? Basic question I know, but after submitting my secondaries, I've kept myself from being neurotic and constantly checking SDN about this kind of stuff. I'm still waiting on 20 schools and unsure how I should feel about my chances at this point in the cycle. (hopefully this isn't too general of a question and that other people would find this useful information as well)
You'll typically either get an email from the school or an update on the portal saying that you're on pre-interview hold. But yeah, it is a school by school thing. If you haven't received any word yet at all, it's hard to know what your status is. It could be that you haven't been reviewed yet.
Womp. I like UCLA's system too. I wasn't able to find any info on ucsd's website. Thanks for letting me know! 🙂Unfortunately, you need to get into the MD program before being considered for PRIME! I was also placed on hold. I estimated the chances of receiving an II were about the same as at the beginning of the cycle because they place far more candidates on hold than the limited number of II slots they have remaining. That being said, hope that we all get offered an II. This an amazing school and SD wouldn't be a terrible place to spend 4 years...I'm going to have to disagree with this on some level - I think the chance of receiving an interview is much different than the chance of receiving one at the beginning of the cycle.
