hey sorry if this is a dumb question, I haven't applied here yet so I can't access a secondary, but if you are just applying regular MD, based on the first post there are no required essays, correct? Thanks 🙂

It's just "If you wish to update or expand upon your activities, you may provide additional information below." 500 words.

Just got my secondary. Verified 7/2. Lizzy M 74

Has anyone with a Lizzy M <70 received a secondary here yet?

Ahhhh just got the secondary! 🙂 super excited hehe

How big of a deal is it really to get a secondary? I know they have a pretty intense screening process, but I am not sure if I want to submit this secondary... I have a 30 MCAT and I am a white male... but CA resident tons of research and other great stuff like that. Think its worth submitting? I know its ultimately up to me, but any advice would be nice

What's your GPA though?

In the same exact boat. I say go for it, man.

Sure, there is $80 to lose but I personally felt I am a good fit for PRIME-US and applied. If you are truly interested in one of their programs and have the experiences to back up your claims, you definitely have a shot.

Think about how quickly you burn through $80 during your day-to-day activities. Food, gas, coffee, etc. Is a shot at UCSF not even worth a dinner for two on a weekend? 😛

$80 for a dinner for two? eek.

It would be a splurgy night out, yes. If you're in a respectable city on the Northeast and go for entrees/dessert/drinks for two, $80 is conservative

Haha. I made a light hearted comment, man. Loosen up.

Nope, looks like UCSF volume is pretty hefty and they're moving slowly...seems like they're only up to late June lol

Hmmm, I still haven't received a secondary and I was verified 6/20. 🙁

On a related note, does UCSF alert you if they are NOT sending you a secondary and rejecting you instead?

How would you phrase an email to UCSF to check if they have sent a secondary, rejected the app, or have yet to review the it?

Tbh, it doesn't sound worth it to me, but I am just a fellow applicant, so in a similar boat as you, but just with Vandy (another screened secondary). They might just view you as being pushy, and from my experience, schools haven't really been answering emails anyways :/. Calling could work, but again, I would be careful with it.

Edit: Same idea as above @BuckinghamPalace

I am hesitant, but at the same time, I'd like to know if I was rejected or not, particularly since I was verified back in June. I may be wrong, but I feel schools have a responsibility to send a notice of rejection, if that's the case. It would be "the right thing" to do, and that's the sort of field we're entering, right?
