+1Is UCF still sending out II's?

We are getting very, very close to being done. I am waiting for a final list from the committee to fill a few remaining seats. I should have that within the next 7-10 days. Otherwise we are filling seats that open as decisions are made to withdraw. Is UCF still sending out II's?

Is anyone placed in the bottom 1/3rd of the waitlist? What are the chances of being admitted from each of the different 1/3rds?
Looking at previous threads and from what REL has said, the waitlist seems to come to a halt somewhere between the upper and lower halves of the middle 1/3. There seems to be some motility in the waitlist as new interviewees are added and some people move up or down until everyone has been interviewed.
Looking at the previous threads it seems kind of hard to tell until that final list is sent out sometime in March because until then, your position on the list can move up or, unfortunately, down. From that final list, the people in the upper third are pretty much guaranteed admission and from there it just depends how many seats turn over. They have previously reached the bottom third, but last year they didn't even make it all the way through the upper half of the middle third, so it really depends. Thankfully, UCF is transparent and REL sends updates about your waitlist placement every once in a while so you can gauge where you are, your motility, and possible chances of being accepted.
The last update was sent about 6 weeks ago, so we should be getting another one soon! Should we be expecting that anytime soon @REL ? Thank you!
Hope this is helpful (and accurate)!
I appreciate the reply. I don't really understand what you mean by the quote I bolded above. Can you clarify on this point? Thanks
UCF draws people off of their waitlist sequentially. So when they contacted you they told you which of the thirds you are in and wether you are in the upper half or lower half of that third.
Once waitlist movement starts closer to May, they will sequentially run down the list, inviting people as seats turn over (aka admitted people choosing other schools). Once the class is full with people who are committed to matriculate at UCF, they stop extending offers. They have 120 seats now so once they have 120 people who say they are definitely going to UCF, they stop offering. This seems to generally happen between the two halves of the middle 1/3 section of the waitlist.
Does that clarify better?
Ah, ok - thank you, yes I understand what you mean now. What you're saying is that whenever the waitlist is more concrete (at the end of the Spring/beginning of Summer), then acceptances usually stop going out to those either in the top or bottom half of the middle third.
From past years' threads, I didn't see many if any people placed on the bottom third of the waitlist. Is that because they just choose not to report it here on SDN?
When is most of the waitlist movement supposed to occur? Also, are OOS applicants interviewed throughout the cycle or mostly toward the beginning/middle/end?
By the very definition of the "bottom third" there has to be people placed in that section...chances are they simply do not post on here about it. If you split up a list into thirds, then intuitively there should be a group of people that always stay in the bottom third, if that makes sense?
I believe OOS are interviewed throughout along with IS applicants, since I know OOS people who interviewed in the beginning with me and one who recently interviewed.
The list itself isn't technically a "waitlist" until they stop handing out acceptances, it's more of a "not-yet-accepted list" as REL put it on my interview day...thus the majority of the actual "waitlist" movement likely begins some time after the April 30th deadline - when students start relinquishing their seats at some schools in order to commit to their school of choice. Once the number of students accepted (usually a little more than the number of seats for the class) who have fully committed to UCF after that deadline drops below the magic 120 number, then students will be pulled from the now-called "waitlist" to maintain the 120 class size. e.g. If 150 students were offered admission, and 31 students gave up their UCF seat, then one person would be pulled from the "waitlist". Alternatively, if no one for some odd reason happened to give up their UCF seat (then again who would want to 😛), then UCF would be overbooked for the Class of 2020, and I have no idea what they would do at that point lol!
You're welcome! And as far as I know, no rejections are handed out until the cycle is over. And I don't think it's fair to say there is a "high probability" that candidates from certain parts will be accepted - historically speaking, it seems that yes, the top 1/3 and some of the middle 1/3 get in at some point once the list turns into a waitlist, however just keep in mind that it's totally up in the air. Like I said before, it's possible they dig down all the way through the middle third, but it's also possible they only pull a couple. But if you're in the top 1/3 by the time it becomes a waitlist, then yes, based on previous years you have a good chance 🙂 good luck!!Thanks for the explanation. And just to be clear, no candidates are rejected after the interview? The waitlist sounds similar to the waitlist at other schools, except that there is a very high probability that candidates from certain parts of the waitlist will be accepted? (As opposed to what happens at some schools, where there is very little waitlist movement.)
Is anyone placed in the bottom 1/3rd of the waitlist? What are the chances of being admitted from each of the different 1/3rds?
Yep, I'm in the top half of the bottom third, AKA no man's land. From my understanding, it's pretty much a rejection, unfortunately. I recall them saying on interview day that typically the top half of the whole waitlist will receive an acceptance, and then the bottom half of the middle third will get some, but that's usually where it stops.
I'm sorry to hear that, although I wouldn't lose hope yet, since the waitlist can still move around. Do you think your interview didn't go well or that your stats are a little lower? Are you IS or OOS? It looks like you're already accepted somewhere, so you'll make a very fine med student and doctor!
You can always request that we provide you some feedback as to the committee's final thoughts. While I agree that it would likely take more than one off interview to send one to a lower vote, also remember that we are interviewing totally strong candidates with regard to motivations. Congrats on your acceptance to USF it has strong clinical assets and you will do well there.Truly, I have no clue. IS, LizzyM 76, decent ECs, a little low on the clinical experience but good stuff elsewhere, at least in my opinion. Interview went fine, I think. The first one was less favorable than I'd have liked, I suppose, as my interviewer kept switching languages, which threw me off and I suppose I sounded like an idiot at first, lol. Second interview went well, she told me she liked me and that I'd be a great student here. But I can't imagine that my interview went so poorly as to sink me to the bottom third, so maybe it was just something else in my app that didn't jive with the admissions committee. Who can say!
Yeah, I've been accepted at USF, and I'm quite happy about that. Thanks for the encouragement. 🙂

I am moving down from Ohio and I have decided to use second look to look around and see what is available and then coming back down at the end of April and making a final decision! Would love to hear others advise as well!Hey, when is everyone planning on looking at apartments/finding roommates/ signing leases? Is it best to do it during 2nd look.
I guess, but since you are a shoe-in over time it really does not matter. We will have interviewed ~425 of 5100, so those 425 are strong, competitive applicants and likely would have received several interview opportunities. So in the end it comes down to committee decisions via the 14 voting members.@REL for those of us in the upper half of the middle third- are we also allowed to inquire about the committee's final thoughts and get some feedback? Or is it best to wait to see what ultimately comes of us?

pre-interview?
+1Rejected here today. Best wishes fellow future MD's![]()
Rejected after being in the eligible for interview applicant pool for roughly four months.
We will offer an opinion if you email us. Also in your request include your own critical analysis of your own application and project ways to strengthen any perceived areas that may be bolstered.Same, +11. @REL does the admissions committee offer feedback for those who were rejected pre-II, or only if applicant was granted II?
Am I the only one who made the alt list? Gonna join the rest of the reject pile soon I bet.
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I got an email saying I'm on a waitlist/alternate list for an interview spot. All interview slots are full, but if someone drops out, I may be offered an interview. I haven't been interviewed at UCF yet. Sorry for any confusion. If you were interviewed and not rejected then you're still in the running. From what it sounds like the first half of the alt list has a chance of being offered a seat.
my interview date was told we'll get decisions 3/2Next round of post- II decisions are coming on 3/9 after the committee meets on 3/8, if I'm not mistaken!
Do people who are waitlisted also receive a call the day the decisions are given out? Or are only accepted candidates given a phone call?
