2015-2016 University of Chicago (Pritzker) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's been exactly 5 weeks since I was marked complete, and I still haven't been rejected, invited to interview, or put on hold... Has anyone else been waiting this long? I don't get it 🙁

I submitted 7/16, wasn't marked complete until 7/28, and haven't heard a peep since. Getting pretty antsy, but I know review is random, according to @NickNaylor. Trying to stay patient and positive!

Well that's easy for you to say, if they reject you your dragons will make them change their mind 😉
In all seriousness though, we're just 4 days apart! So hopefully we'll get to meet on interview day 🙂

If your application is marked as complete then I wouldn't worry about it. I know the wait sucks, but I promise you'll hear back.

People who got an II Do you mind sharing ur stats ? IS or OOS GPA MCAT etc .. Thank you 🙂

Hey guys! It's so nice to read that the interview day was awesome. I wish I had one from UChicago 🙁

Just wondering: what's the general opinion about emailing them about the possibility of interview if I'll be around the area for another school's interview? Chicago is pretty far from me too.

Worth a shot I'd say, but don't expect too much.

Rejected just now, LizzyM ~73. Good luck everyone, I wish you the best!

Rejected 3.6, 36. Good luck to everyone else!

Rejected today after having been complete on 7/15 (Lizzy M ~75)...A little upset, but glad to finally have an answer at least. Congrats to everyone with IIs!!

+1 No email, just a status update in the portal. I'm guessing the worded rejection will come via snail mail... good luck to everyone else!

Does anyone know what room/building we meet for interview day? I couldn't find anything on the portal or in the email they sent. Appreciate the help.

EDIT: The closest thing I can across was on the Map giving directions that says:
You will see the Biological Sciences Learning Center (BSLC) and the Pritzker School of Medicine on your right.

Is this where you go first?

I found the information included in the interview invite email they sent me, in case you want to double-check. 🙂 Just in case it's a different location for your interview time.

Yes it should be the BSLC. Once you walk into the lobby, there will be a sign directly you to the administration suite.

Yeah BSLC but definitely give yourself some extra time to navigate around the consteuction, the main entrance is only accessible by going all the way around the building via a back alley.

And make sure you know how to get back in the building if u need to leave for an interview at one of the other locations. The construction definitely confused me when trying to find my way back to admissions after my interview ran a little long.

Yeah and if you have an interview in the same location as someone else at roughly the same time, I would highly suggest walking over together so as to avoid getting lost by yourself (that is if you're as bad at directions as I am haha)

For those who got an II, when you emailed them a photo did you get a confirmation that they recieved it and or anything?

If you're uncomfortable getting somewhere, please don't be afraid to let the admissions staff know. They'll find a student to walk you over or walk you over themselves.

Yeah, please don't be afraid to ask for help. I have been here for 3 years and there are still some places in Mitchell that I have no idea to get to(some of the floors of the same building don't connect!).

FYI the front walkway to the main entrance to the BSLC is now open. They have the back entrance that others mentioned blocked off now to make things extra confusing!

wuuuuuuuuut no fair haha that caused me so much trouble two weeks ago.

Is it normal not to get a response after sending interview thank you emails?

This had no effect on my decision to come to Pritzker but know it has been a topic of much discussion for applicants, so thought I would share this (exciting) news
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...-south-side-trauma-center-20150910-story.html

As far as how this would affect you as a med student at Pritzker - I'm guessing that a trauma surgery sub-I/rotation would be made available at Holy Cross for fourth years. unclear to me as to how this would affect your 3rd year, although part of the surgery rotation is a 2 week critical care block so perhaps the option for a 2 week rotation at Holy Cross would be in order. if I hear anything more definitive I will share the news.

By the way, I'm a 4th year at Pritzker, happy to answer any questions in general.

Is there anyone left that was complete mid/late July that still hasn't heard back? Pritzker lets you know as soon as you're rejected or on hold, right?

Today marks 7 weeks since completion for me 🙁 (and 2 months since everything was submitted on my end)

Complete August 4th and still haven't heard back....

Also complete last week of July and have heard nothing. Can't find any examples of people getting interview invites after 2 month silence so getting pretty pessimistic
