2015-2016 University of Chicago (Pritzker) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
They will definitely release decisions tomorrow.

@NickNaylor any tips on when to look out for the potential phone call?
Whenever the person that is calling decides to do it. Could be rather early or late.
(what I'm trying to suggest is try to enjoy your day and not worry about things outside of your control. I realize easier said than done)
My understanding is that it is often the Admission Committee member that interviewed you who calls, but not always
They will leave a message if you don't get to your phone so don't worry about that
If you don't hear anything tomorrow, I would not freak out. There are logistical issues that delay applications being reviewed, or they might not make all of the calls right away; etc.
Hopefully this answers everyone's questions and concerns. Let me know if you have any more. Good luck everyone!

Highly variable - most people hear back within 8 weeks, though in previous years it can sometimes take 10-12 weeks.

But yes, they will likely make calls tomorrow.

They told us at interview day it is no longer variable. Said they felt bad that people would basically be on the edge of their seat for weeks so they're releasing decisions on 3-4 set days. For October interviews we were told that was December 21. Perhaps the Septembers day is tomorrow. I assume they may have the dates posted somewhere online, but since this is new for them, perhaps not yet.

Oh nice, well that's new. Bummer if you don't hear back as I imagine that will still result in the anxiety of getting a decision later vs. awaiting a hold, but that's a good move.

My, my how things have changed in just a year.

Pritzker's admissions and faculty team has to be one of the nicest I've heard about. It would be so, so amazing to have the opportunity to go here.

I'd take the old system any day. Surely being on the edge of your seat for a few weeks is better than being nervous for a few months? Plus I think it's much more nerve-wracking to be waiting for a specific day.

That's my opinion too! But apparently we're in the minority.

When did you guys receive the continued email? Trying to figure out if they sent out a mass continued email to everyone.. I haven't got an email, nor a phone call..
Sitting on the edge of my seat right now

does Pritzker offer merit based scholarships and if so when do they usually release information about this to accepted students?

They do, and will let you know upon acceptance

Continued...got the email a few minutes ago, so there's definitely more than one batch.

Many times the scholarships are offered with the acceptance, but in the past people have also been awarded scholarships after being accepted though this is relatively uncommon.

Anyone know the chances of being accepted after a deferral? What does continued actually mean?

In the past, up to 20% of the class was on hold at some point prior to being accepted though this varies from year to year. Your application will continue to be evaluated with a potential for acceptance in the future.

Continued email 15 min back 🙁. Now the wait is until December 21!

Congrats to those of you that have been Accepted.

Hello everyone,

I submitted my Pritzker secondary on August 6th and my letters of rec shortly thereafter. 80 LizzyM score. Is this long of a wait normal? I have not been placed on hold, so they must still be actively looking at my application. Any thoughts?
