MRpremed-dudeguy: I didn't hear anything yesterday either, nor did I see anything posted about it. I'm curious if anyone did.

were any calls made today?

It's possible it got pushed back a bit due to the later start to interviews. I also didn't hear anything. I think Dr. Z did suggest some should go out around the 15th when I helped with interviews previously but that may have been reading too much into it.

Thanks for the response! I suppose the waiting game will continue for now!

I interviewed OOS 10/09. Any word if they will be giving acceptances 15/16 or at the end of the month? I am just a little confused because I know they have two committee meetings a month.

Also if anyone has any interview questions.. happy to help 🙂

Anyone have an idea when they are currently scheduling interviews? I'm going to Denver to visit my wife's family and was thinking about sending an ITA.

I'm not sure but I'd venture a guess that interviews are booked all the way into December. I got my II on 10/7 and it was for mid December... But it's worth a shot I suppose.

Interview day was amazing. Hoping for good news after the next executive committee meeting at the end of the month!

Didn't get a call today, trying to stay optimistic but if the experience of those from last years CU thread is any indication...those of us who interviewed early and were passed over after this first review won't hear anything again until March....

I hope this isn't the case but after reading through last years thread it seems likely.

Dr. Z said they would try to let everyone know by December or January where they stand.

Interviewed here yesterday. First one down!

I really liked the school and thought all the students I met were laid-back, helpful, and very happy to have chosen CU. My hosts were amazing - I didnt spend a dime, they drove me to/from the airport, to my interview, and fed me!

The weather was beautiful, the facilities impressive, and the staff's excitement about what they do every day infectious. The interviews went fine, I think - my first interviewer was nice but she just went through a list of questions which didn't really assess who I was. The second interview was much more conversational.

For those interested, Vidal Dickerson (admissions director) said an Executive Committee meets twice a month to review interviewees. Those they feel strongly about will definitely get a call earlier in the season (about a month after their interview date). Those that dont are still in the running, but will be assessed against later interviewees. The waitlist wont be set until April.

Any IS applicants with a recent interview invite? I was complete 9/11/15 and haven't heard anything yet. LizzyM of 70-72.

I was complete 9/11 also, but I'm OOS. I emailed admissions a week or so ago with an in-the-area email and got a friendly, pretty detailed response on the admissions process as a whole. I cant find the email to quote it exactly, but she basically said that residence isn't considered for interview invites:shrug:, and that there is no way to speed up the review process, but they should be reviewing mid September completion dates soon. She also said early-September completion dates are still considered early in the cycle and will definitely be reviewed with plenty of time left to schedule an interview.

Here's to hoping we hear something soon! The waiting's killing me...

Ok. I had heard opposite from a current 4th year student that residence was considered in offering II. However, his experience was many years ago.

Thanks for your input. They interviewed ~44% of IS apps (299/683) last year with ~1/3 of those interviewed (117) matriculating.

The wait is killing me as well.

Thanks for the info. I was complete 10/06 so this is a relief to hear!

IS II just now! I'm at a medical conference in Baltimore and was checking out of my hotel when I saw the email, and I started sobbing hysterically in the lobby...

Verified 8/14, complete 9/2, LizzyM probably around 66 but have a 4.0 from graduate school and currently work in an embryology/infertility clinic.

OOS II! Interview on Dec. 18. Was complete on the first of September, I think. LizzyM is 74.

Hope to see you there!

Are those 10 from the first committee meeting or is the second meeting included as well?

It was 11 months from the day I sent in my primary until the day CU accepted me. Don't do this to yourselves with counting acceptances that have gone out and what not. It's a long process and stressing so much will eat you up (it definitely did for me). Looking at my class I can definitely say the diligent, purposeful time that CU takes with each acceptance is to create a group of incredible, compelling, and diverse individuals. Try to relax as much as you can!

It took me a few months to hear anything after my interview

I'm sure this has been asked before, but does CU do open interviews? Or are they partially blind?

Not entirely sure about your question, but I know somebody who has been accepted already and they are part of CU's BA/BS, MD program. So that might be what these early acceptances are.

Sorry if I worded my question weirdly. As far as we know they have 2 committee meetings in a month, what I was wondering was if those 10 acceptance from the 1st committee meeting only or both 1st and 2nd.

I haven't spoken directly to the admissions department yet about this, but can anyone speak on the process for receiving an interview date? I'm assuming it's via email, but how long do we have to reply/accept?

I'm asking because I'll be in military training for the next month - two weeks of which connectivity will be spotty, if at all.

I don't want to sound too presumptuous, but were I to receive an invitation while I was out of the net, I want to ensure I can wait a few weeks to accept it - or have a deliberate plan for someone else to be checking my email.

Not presumptuous at all. I just looked at my email and there isn't a "reply by" date that I could find, but generally I believe people tend to reply within a day (or two), unless they are waiting to hear about an admission from another school in which case they won't interview or some situation similar to that.

What I would do in your situation is to email the admissions office and basically tell them your situation and ask them what the timeframe is, since I don't think it's stated in the II email.

My 2c.

No deadline for accepting/declining that I saw, and I only got a notification about the II, there was no change on my portal.

I think a big contributing factor may be if you're IS or OOS. I only have a little over a week between my II and scheduled interview, so very short notice (I'm IS). However it seems that the OOS interviews are being scheduled at earliest December at the moment. If you're OOS, it's likely that you'll be done with your training before you're II (that's just my guess).

But as said, I would email them about it if you're worried. Good luck, I hope you get one!

Any people interviewing this Friday want to share an uber or anything to the airport?

If you can't find anything you can take the 15 to Colfax and Billings and the AT to the airport from there. Should cost around 11 bucks and last I went from the moment I left the school's bus stop to getting through security it was under an hour.

Thank you for the info, @Gambino01 and @hach13.

I am IS, so that news makes me somewhat concerned. I'll see if I can get an answer from the admissions department, but so far they've been relatively cold about altering their system for specific circumstances. I can understand and respect the need to not make exceptions when dealing with thousands of emotionally charged applicants, but it's made my life much more... colorful... over the past few months.

Thanks again guys.

I am out of state and was invited to interview latter part of September. There was a significant number of other out of state interviewers. My interview date was about a week after my II, so very short notice.

CU definitely seemed to get a late start to IIs this cycle (I think the first date was Sept. 18th), and I think that the folks who interviewed in those first few weeks had very short notice, regardless of being IS or OOS, so I would absolutely agree with you on that. However, looking at more recent IIs for OOS applicants, it seems most people are getting them scheduled in November or December, giving them a decent amount of time in between the invite and the actual interview. Which is great, because arranging last minute flights and plans coming from OOS is expensive and stressful. Just something I thought I had noticed recently.
As I said, the best option for gshocked would be to try to contact CU about it.

Does CU send out pre-ii rejections during the year? Or just at the end?

Are there any anecdotes of OOS students being offered IS tuition after a year?

I am trying to decide if I want to keep my interview here, as I really like the school, but have acceptances at much more affordable options.

Unfortunately OOS students are locked at OOS tuition for 4 years

I am dying to hear back from CU! Interview day was fantastic - comfortable interviews, super nice students and faculty, incredible program. Really hoping for an outright acceptance 😀
