Do we get confirmation email after sending acceptance forms back to KU?
Does interviewing in January hinder chances of an acceptance at all?For the majority of the regular interviews for the academic year they take the top 10% as previously stated, after the first of the year they typically change that to 30% due to them knowing the amount of spots filled. The only reason they make some people wait until March is they don't know yet how you will rank on the list, by January or so the list is filled up. KU always tries to send all acceptance/rejection etc letters via postal service. Last year, they sent acceptances for the March individuals via email, but that was only b/c they had to meet a certain deadline for scholarships and stuff.
FYI: Several years back all the January interviews did not find out their status until the March release b/c of massive snow storms that kept cancelling the committee meetings, so that has been known to happen. Best of luck to everyone.

I met with Dean McCurdy (Dean of Admissions) earlier this school year and she said they were cutting off at 25 or a 500 MCAT, which are both 50th percentile. I have the cutoff GPA written down somewhere, I'll try to find it.I really wonder what their GPA/MCAT cutoff is this cycle. I obviously got the interview but I feel like it was only because I'm in state.
That would be great. Is that for science GPA or cumulative?I met with Dean McCurdy (Dean of Admissions) earlier this school year and she said they were cutting off at 25 or a 500 MCAT, which are both 50th percentile. I have the cutoff GPA written down somewhere, I'll try to find it.
If I remember right, Dean McCurdy mentioned that it would be the first or second week of February when we receive initial decisions. Have you spoken to her to know the decision is coming this week for sure?We should hear back next week!!! I swear I haven't slept in the past week I'm so excited!

Wasn't there bad weather last year that delayed the weekly Committee meetings?I interviewed during the 1/5, 1/6, 1/7 group last year and didn't hear back until mid February. Believe me, I know it's stressful, but they'll probably never be early. Expect around Valentines day at the earliest, and if you get put on hold, expect mid march.
I'd be interested in this too..For an in-state applicant, after being put on hold, what is the usual percentage of people who get accepted? I know they mentioned this on interview day but I cannot remember the average.

I interviewed last Thursday, which I believe was the last week of interviews. At that point, Dean McCurdy informed us that there are still 96-98 seats still available.
Anyone else check this forum on the daily for a glimpse of positivity regarding our decisions?
I don't even check it cause I have alerts on every single device I own telling me every time someone posts, and then at that point I race to the forum to figure out what's happened lolAnyone else check this forum on the daily for a glimpse of positivity regarding our decisions?
Cool. So basically it's still around 50% because there would be less applicants left in the pool. If you don't mind me asking, Dean McCurdy did say that most applicants would find out mid March correct?
Not yet.has anybody that interviewed the first week of January heard back yet???? They said the first or second week of February so I'm starting to lose my mind just a little bit!
Lolol agree with thisI haven't, but I think you'll know when people do........I mean you'll know when I do lol
On hold also. interviewed Oct 7th. This wait is killer.
At this point, I would love to be put on hold when I get my initial decision. 🙂Absolutely killer. I interviewed Oct. 9...just hoping this hold pays off lol

I am thinking we should hear something next week.Yes, but as one person pointed out above, they've had at least one committee meeting canceled.
New to the thread, but have been stalking this for weeks and finally decided to join into the convo... Anyone else been looking at the KU 2020 Group on FB? There are now 109 members, but looking through some of the members' profile pics show that probably 5-10 of them already attend KU Med... Anyone know anything about this?
Yes, there are several who have joined the group to be ambassadors or to post about fundraisers or apparel sales that their med class is doing. The class of 2019 has 347 members (way more than the size of their class) so that seems to be the way things go. I'm sorry that probably throws off your estimations about available spots. 🙁 Hoping to see group requests from all of you once you're in!
Do you think Tuesday might be their final meeting?I'm hoping they're gonna mail them tomorrow so either Tuesday or Wednesday!! Especially since what should have been their final meeting was last Tuesday.

Mail I believeMail them? I thought it would be email..
Last Tuesday or this coming Tuesday = last meeting?Their committee meetings are Tuesday's or that's we were told at our interview. And it is snail mail all the way.......you would think that it would be email with all the high tech improvements they have made to the school but it is not
My guess is that about 10 are already upperclassmen and are social chairs to the incoming applicants to organize some happy hours and answer questions. That's my guess. At least, that's what they do with my fiancé in dental school.
Was that the letter in March or the initial one after your interview. I though the interview letter was only snail mail, but I guess I could be wrong. For everyone wondering about the snail mail: they do send e-mails as well.. when I was wait-listed last year, I actually got the e-mail before the letter.. But I'm pretty sure they do rejections via snail mail only.. So if you're getting good (or at least, not bad) news, it might come to your e-mail!
Yeah several of us in the class of 2019 have wandered in to welcome and be available to answer questions, try and get to recognize faces when y'all get here, etc... Good luck everyone, I know this wait is killer!
