2016-2017 Florida State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Secondary received today at 1:49 PM! Apparently, there is a $30 application fee this cycle. Bummer.

May I ask what date your AMCAS was verified? Just trying to get a timeline to expect the secondary. Thanks!

Yes, I am an Early Decision applicant. FSU is my alma mater!

Okay cool, just looked at last year's thread and regular decision didn't hear back until August/September...after all the early decision applicants

In the Self-Selection section where it asks "Did you grow up in a rural area? If yes, please explain:," such a small box is provided to answer that question. Should it be a one-liner answer, or can I copy and paste what was on my primary application (which asked the same question!)?

Didn't get my secondary yet but do they want to know your scores for each section of the SAT and date you took it? I remember my cumulative score but that's it. It was so long ago- does anyone actually have this information?

My friend who is currently an M1 at FSU COM only provided her cumulative score on the secondary. It didn't come up in her interview either. Hope this helps!

Does it actually take 24 hours after payment to be able to access the application?

Secondary received and submitted! Good luck everyone!

if I took Physics, but not the labs (planning to take the labs next year), should I check the taken box for [physics (with lab)]? Or should I leave the box unchecked and write in the box next to it that I have taken the lecture course, but not the lab course yet for physics and the anticipated date I plan to take it?

I would do the second thing.

EDIT: Check each box below of the courses you have completed or are currently enrolled and/or anticipate completing prior to matriculating to graduate school.

I got a secondary, but they said their servers are down for paying the application fee. Is anyone else experiencing that?

last night it was for me, too. I'm going to check again late this afternoon

just paid the secondary fee, so do we just wait a day until we can access the actual secondary?

For the profile section, most of my answers are around 100-200 words. Do you think they expect the full 500 words?

They don't have any expectations in terms of word count. If you can articulate what you're trying to say in less words then that's fine. Less reading for them.

Has anyone received a confirmation/completion email after completing the secondary?

Can you please post the secondary prompts? Also I am from CA with MCAT <505, is it worth applying???

I agree with @AJMAQ94 and @WatchHowISoar. However, it is ultimately your choice and nobody can judge you for taking a chance. If you decide to submit a secondary to this school, make sure that you highlight any ties that you might have with Florida!

I have no ties to Florida, so I guess that settles that. Likely not going to apply there...🙁

I was wondering, doesFSU takes notice of updates sent after primary applications? I am volunteering at a clinic that serves immigrant families and those without insurance at a lower cost than many places (in south florida) but I won't start until august. This is after my primary applications will be submitted. I didn't want to put that on my primary applications because I feel like that would be jumping the gun.

Yes FSU accept updates even until after you submit your secondaries. The email to send updates is somewhere in this forum.
