I'm AA and NA applying to Meharry, But as a graduate of another HBCU, Howard U for undergrad, I can say that yes if you feel strongly about their mission and can demonstrate it, you should apply. HBCUs are diverse, and their graduate schools are especially so.

Non URM's have been accepted before...if you have experience(s) working with under represented/urban populations, you should be fine.

Do you happen to know the rate? My stats are not Ivy league quality, so that's why I don't know if I should place an app.
I contacted them today. The email said, "Invitations to complete the supplemental application will be sent via email starting August 1." 🙂

Anyone having trouble accessing the secondary? It says "Medical Supplemental Application is currently closed."

yeah, I'm super grateful for the secondary, but the not available until August 1st is a little.. anticlimactic. [emoji28]

I'm a reapplicant with a lot of community service w/ underserved pop. and research regarding eliminating treatment barriers for disadvantaged populations (presented a poster on this), but not sure what went wrong last cycle other than that I applied super late. I feel like this is a genuinely great fit for me. I'm reworking my secondary answer (assuming it will be the same/similar), and hoping that helps. Any other reapplicants?

I'm right there with you. I also feel that I applied a little too late (My primary was sent in at the end of September and my secondary, the middle of October). Hopefully our persistence will pay off this go around! 👍
Same time frame with me! And I had a letter writer who didn't physically sign the letter which was a huge disaster and actually postponed me at some schools until almost Thanksgiving! Hopefully this time around we'll get a shot!
I really hope that they have not changed the prompt this year. Anyone have any idea how many years they have used the prompt from before?

Also, I'm Pakistani but really really want to go to this school and I know they like to get URM but Idk if I fit that or not (some say yes some say no...). I have several hundreds of volunteering hours with charities and refugees and mentoring college students from underserved backgrounds. So I guess just wondering if I got a shot. educationally I think I'm fine, I meet or exceed their minimum requirements.

Hi Everyone! I don't know if I'm posting in the right place. But, is there a post bacc program at Meharry that grants an acceptance to the med school if you successfully completed the program? I heard of there being one but I can't find any information about it on their website or if it still exists. Thanks for the help!

There used to be a post bacc program for those that applied to the medical school but were not accepted due to either low MCAT or low gpa. You had to apply to the medical school in order to be considered. Now, they have I believe the MHS program (it may be called something else) that almost guarantees your admission into the medical or dental school and you leave with a masters degree in 1 year.
For me it opened at 8am EST. I definitely checked at midnight and before my morning workout and it wasn't open, so I think it opened right at 8am 🙂

I also don't think there is a word/character limit imposed in case anyone's wondering because the prompt didn't mention one. or if there is, it's >900 words or >5,500 characters because my submission went through. 🙂

My choice for "year of desired matriculation" is "Medical Supplemental"
