Cool thanks! I interviewed first week of January, but didn't get an email this week. Hopefully I I'll during the next batch. That's the first week of March, right?I got the email at 2:50pm on Thursday 1/26
Good luck! It usually is, but could be the last week in February as well, depending on committee meeting timings.Cool thanks! I interviewed first week of January, but didn't get an email this week. Hopefully I I'll during the next batch. That's the first week of March, right?
Yes, it already went out.Hello! I just received my AWPA letter in the mail today, is it too late to be accepted within the February batch? Thank you!
Yes, it already went out.
Yes, but only a few and only if some who got accepted decline their seats. The next batch will be late Feb / early March and then movement ramps up until / around the multi-accept deadline. Thanks for the reply! They send out some acceptances before the next batch in March, correct?

Do you know if the next batch will be late February or early march? I heard/read both timeframes and wanted some clarification.Congrats to everyone accepted so far; as @ncklkrt said plenty more to come. Keep checking those emails and take care of yourselves
At the interview and in the AWPA letter, they say March. But this year, the admissions committee has been meeting a week or so earlier and have been releasing acceptance in the last week of the month before. So could be either!Do you know if the next batch will be late February or early march? I heard/read both timeframes and wanted some clarification.

There will be! They usually wait until after the last batch goes out and the administrators will create a page for everyone and give you the information via e-mail. That's the official page and everyone can see. Most classes, ours included, created a 'students only' version and invited everyone except the staff members to discuss other things 🙂Is there an accepted students Facebook page?

It will be "Class of 2021 SIU SOM" so you can search Facebook for that if you're super eager, but it will be created soon.
March 7th is the next committee meeting, so acceptances will go out 3/8 or 3/9. I asked Beth the other day.I am assuming that the last batch went out yesterday, but since no one has said anything.... I guess not?
I haven't received anything yet. But it might be sent out tomorrow. Keep thinking positive!!Has anyone received an acceptance email today?
Me neitherI haven't received anything yet. But it might be sent out tomorrow. Keep thinking positive!!
No idea, haven't received anything either.Do all the emails get sent out at the same time of day? That would make sense but I'm holding out hope.
They don't come out all at the same time, but a majority are sent out before lunch time - some may still come later this afternoon.Do all the emails get sent out at the same time of day? That would make sense but I'm holding out hope.
Dang. That's no goodThey don't come out all at the same time, but a majority are sent out before lunch time - some may still come later this afternoon.
The final full batch was released today. There will be some small movement between now and the multi-accept deadline.Interesting that only one person on SDN got their acceptance today. Maybe the whole batch didn't go out today? Probably just wishful thinking.

Meaning there will be lots of movement around the multi-accept deadline? The final full batch was released today. There will be some small movement between now and the multi-accept deadline.
Also does anybody know if we can inquire about what quartile we are at on the AWPA list?
I don't think they tell you, but you can try asking.
^Also does anybody know if we can inquire about what quartile we are at on the AWPA list?
As it gets closer, yes.Meaning there will be lots of movement around the multi-accept deadline?
No. Placement on the list is generally not disclosed. Also does anybody know if we can inquire about what quartile we are at on the AWPA list?
+1Just got the AWPA update letter sent to my house today regarding movement on the list as it gets closer to April 30th.
Yes, but I'd imagine if you're a little further away from Springfield that it will take longer. I'm from Southern Illinois and got mine on Monday.Should everyone on the AWPA list have gotten that update letter? I did not get one but got my AWPA letter quite some time ago.
Effects, if anything major, will most likely be felt at your first year on Carbondale's campus. The medical school gets funding from many more sources, and almost all instructors after year 1 are practicing nurses / physicians that also help teach. Our dean and student affairs office is extremely open and the biggest thing we've heard about is changing the colors to purple. As of now, there's nothing even remotely hinted at that may interfere with your education. We surpass LCME accreditation every time they visit the school, which also helps secure more funding. We are also a smaller school, so any sort of issues that may arise in the future would be felt less as less support staff is necessary for a smaller school.Could anyone comment on if incoming students should be concerned about the state budget issues and potential school funding?

At any school in Illinois you will be indirectly dealing with the budget crisis, and it's just something to deal with in this lovely state. Our opportunities have actually INCREASED thanks to the brand-new MCLI building and a restructuring of Y3 curriculum. As long as you'd be okay wearing a purple SIU logo on your white coat instead of a green one, SIU doesn't have too many other problems.
As an example of the few issues we have - if anything we have the resources available to begin re branding by changing the logo and the school colors. Is the changing to purple somehow related to the budget crisis, or do you mention it as an example of the few issues SIU has?

out of curiosity did you guys have stellar MCATs when applying/getting accepted?
