I am an IS applicant and also a participant of the AZ Applicant Academy for this year. The Admission Director and Committee members talked to us in May and I wrote some notes down. Here are some statistics and info to ease some stress in this thread:
- Minimum for MCAT Score is 498 although they did accept someone with 495
- Each Secondary Application Committee, which uses your secondary application as the primary screen tool for II, is composed of two people, one student and one faculty. If there is discrepancy between the two, a third person will come in and break the tie.
- The Admission Committee is composed of 16 members: One chairman and 15 members (5 students and 10 faculties). The 15 members are divided into 5 subgroups composed of two faculties and one medical student.
- Each subgroup of the committee will look at your application and agree whether to further discussing it with the entire committee. If so, the committee will anonymously vote to decide if they want to admit you or not.
- The whole committee meets up biweekly.
- If you did not make it to the voting stage, then your application will be back in the pool and probably get reviewed every two weeks or month.
- The committee is very thorough and they may remember your application -- could be good or bad.
