When were you complete
Congrats!! OOS or IS? How long were you on hold?II. Post-Hold.
About a week, IS. Thanks! Keep in mind you can get off a hold at anytime. Well, it seemed like it was that way for some people last year.Congrats!! OOS or IS? How long were you on hold?
Aaaaaand...hold.
File under review 😱 Does anyone remember if at the interview day they said we would hear back for acceptance/hold mid-October (like just after the 15th) or would it be later/early november-ish?
Was that an email you just got that gave you that notification? For some reason I heard mid September was the first batch of acceptances. I may have heard wrong though so take it with a grain of salt.
No, my portal was updated with that line. Does yours have that as well? I'm pretty sure October 15th is the earliest date medical schools can release acceptances. Looking back, I vaguely recall one of the admissions people saying Arizona's adcom starts meeting early/mid september, but I could be totally off.
They definitely said at my interview that the first batch of acceptances would go out in September, and not that it super matters, but everything I'm seeing online looks like you can't release admissions info before Oct 15th. Unless the traffic guidelines are truly just "guidelines" and not "rules" per se?Yea my portal has that too. Aaahhh ok maybe I misheard them then. Welp, let the waiting game begin!

That's what I heard too! It may have been a mistake though cause as I look at last years thread I see that the first acceptance went out around late October. Let's hope it wasn't a mistake though hahahaha.
yay!!! hope for the holds 😉. and congrats!! are you is or oos?II today. Got the Hold (with competitive candidate) last week.
You mean, you got like this last week:II today. Got the Hold (with competitive candidate) last week.

We welcome your continued interest in the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson. Your application has completed the primary screening phase for an interview invitation. Our medical school is currently unable to invite you to interview. However, we have determined that you are a competitive candidate and you will continue to be considered during this application cycle.
Does anyone have any insight into how often we can expect to hear from the adcom? I feel like I heard they meet twice per month and send correspondence once per month, but I can't even remember where I heard that from.
Congrats!!!II today!! Complete 7/12, OOS. Lizzy M 64.5. Very excited 🙂

what's the best way to get off of the "competitive applicant" waitlist? Like I was recently a part of a literature review that was submitted and will be published around December (almost forsure). Should I write them and tell them about that or write them and tell them that U of A would be a top choice of mine? I am OOS if that helps
Congrats! Did you ever get put on hold?
thanks for sharing! congrats again on the interviewYup! For about a week 🙂

Nope! Maybe they send them early so you can think about the questionsI received an email yesterday asking me to do a post-interview survey and I haven't had my interview yet. Anyone else get this? Freaked me out for a bit thinking I missed my interview date
Same lolololI received an email yesterday asking me to do a post-interview survey and I haven't had my interview yet. Anyone else get this? Freaked me out for a bit thinking I missed my interview date
everyone is different. An earlier post said people can come off anywhere from 1 week - 2 months if that. I think I am hitting the 1 month spot soonthe people that went on hold and ended up receiving II's after that, was it about a week after that you received your II from being on hold? that's what it seems like to me, but just wanted to confirm
End of Sept for first batch of acceptances. Was that an email you just got that gave you that notification? For some reason I heard mid September was the first batch of acceptances. I may have heard wrong though so take it with a grain of salt.
PA would certainly count as a clinical supervisor. Anyone who has seen you in action with patients and families. The clinical LOR is one from a physician or clinical supervisor. So I would imagine a PA would count as a clinical supervisor. I just included the volunteer coordinator for the hospital I volunteered at.
Still competitive means just that. You will continue to be screened and looked at until the interview process is over. We interview until Feb.Should this "still competitive" be worrying? I'm not sure if they are actually possibly interested or they looked at it and weren't interested at all but this e-mail was simply a formality. Does anyone have any insight?
No, actually we're saying that we will continue to look at your application until the cycle is over.just checked my portal:
Dear tuco's revenge,
We welcome your continued interest in the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson. Your application has completed the primary screening phase for an interview invitation. Our medical school is currently unable to invite you to interview. However, we have determined that you are a competitive candidate and you will continue to be considered during this application cycle.
If there are changes to your status, we will communicate with you via email. Our interview season runs from August to February. You may be invited for an interview at any point during this time frame. Final notification of your interview status will be sent no later than March 24, 2017.
So basically, this is what their saying:
"dear tuco, thanks for the donation. all proceeds from your payment will ensure that your rejection letter on March 24, 2017 is very personal, heart-warming, and has the dean's real authentic signature. we thoroughly hope that you enjoy tropical and humid weather, as we believe that you will thrive in an offshore school. goodbye tuco"
We review secondaries based on the order they were completed and received.I agree that not all schools do, but given the reporting in this thread it appears that u of a does. I guess it's possible they don't though
End of Sept for first batch of acceptances.
