Even if they screen linearly, they do multiple reviews through the season, you could get a secondary at any point.

Don't give up until it's over.

I only applied to UCLA, UCSF, and UCSD, OOS. Haven't received UCSD yet.

I just received my secondary! Does everyone receive one or do they pre screen?

They are interested in you if you received a secondary. My LizzyM was around yours and I'm currently an MS1 here. Work hard and have faith in yourself!

Congratulations to all who have received II's (and the secondaries so many of us have been agonizing over!). Secondary received yesterday. Primary submitted 7/21. Added it a few weeks after the other schools - it's such a reach, but love it so much.
 
Does applying to JMP or prime increase chance of acceptance? Does one need a heavy research background to apply to JMP?
 
I don't think it really changes one's chances at acceptance as the programs evaluate applications separately. Each of them also have different missions and it's more about the fit than having more opportunities for acceptance.

Don't know about the research background.

Admission to the UCSF school of medicine and JMP is completely separate so there is no boost by applying to the latter. You have to be accepted into the regular school of medicine before consideration for PRIME. I'd highly recommend applying to JMP/PRIME only if their mission statements align very closely with what you hope to get out of medicine.
 
@neekzg Does JMP and Prime interview separately from the MD program? For example, if a person were to get an II from both the MD program and JMP, would they have to interview twice? Thanks!

If you get an interview from both MD and JMP, it's two separate interviews. I think you can usually arrange them around the same time to make one trip to SF/Bay Area. If you're unable to get dates close to each other to make one trip I feel like they would be pretty accommodating if you e-mail them.

If you're admitted into either JMP or MD, you'll move to the next round of consideration for PRIME which will be a phone interview. Hope that helps!

EDIT:: actually, I think if you interview for JMP the PRIME interview is later that day.

I am still waiting on a secondary. Although this school is a long shot for me, I still want to know the status of my application 🙂 My AMCAS was verified on 8/10. Should I wait a couple more weeks and then call the admissions office to ask about my app if I still haven't heard then?
