2016-2017 University of Illinois Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So I interviewed on November 11th and my status on the website just changed to "Decision Pending" - Does this mean the committee received my interview results. Because before it was something about evaluation not complete.

Does the committee meet on Tuesday or Thursday once a month? Did they meet today? Or is it this Thursday?

Spooky status changes...

I think a bunch of us are assuming the next time they meet is this Thursday 11/17. Looks like it has always been on Thursdays based on past threads. Whether or not they'd make a decision for people who had interviewed just a week prior such as yourself, not sure. Only say this since I don't think anybody who interviewed early October got news after the last adcom meeting on 10/13.

So I got an II on 11/09, and every time I check the portal to see if there are any available interview slots there never are...anyone have an idea as to when these will open and if they will open. I can only see dates from 11/18-1/13

Additional interview spots just opened up in Chicago and Peoria for those who have been invited and yet to schedule. Best of luck everyone!

Did you find out if this was true?

So I take it that they're meeting today about this?

Also, did decisions in the previous month come on that day, or afterwards?

First I never found out more than what people have said on SDN, which some say it is true. No real way I can think of to confirm this without being on the inside.

Second I believe that both people have received updates on their statuses on both today and tomorrow in the past. So thats the worst answer.

And yes I'm loopy

Interview on 10/20
Final decision update! Theres a handy flowchart in the thread that explains the meaning of status changes but it does not guarantee that "additional correspondence" means you've been accepted. Just that you're very likely accepted if you get "additional correspondence and a CBC email. I've got my fingers crossed for the CBC email.

That flowchart honestly seems outdated. In last years noone that got additional got rejected. Further many who didn't get CBC got acceptances. Further it seems CBC comes in Springtime.... I read that also.

the status pages update gradually, right? I think in the past, status pages update as late as Monday

Think I only saw one instance in the 2015-2016 thread where they gave a status update across 2 days (Thursday - Friday).

Excuse my ignorance, but what does CBC stand for?

Just checked status online and have the yellow "Additional correspondence" note, along with this current status:

"A final decision was made on your application on 11-17-16. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

Born in Illinois but OOS. Interviewed mid-October at Chicago campus. The deans told us to expect to hear back right before Thanksgiving.

Cautiously excited; I'm one of those people who won't believe until the letter arrives...

So what I heard from admissions was that even though a decision was made on your file does not mean your status was updated. I was told that we would hear by the end of next week.
???? Hear back as in see a status update? plus next week is thanksgiving

When did you interview? I'm curious as to who has seen status updates and who hasn't yet. I still have nothing.
I interviewed 10/17 and don't have an update. But it looks like some people who interviewed in late October/early November have heard news so I'm not sure if there's an order to all of this...

Interviewed today. They said they would get back to us by late December/ early January

For any UIC med students scoping this thread, can y'all tell us about your experience at UIC? the things you like/dislike?

Anyone get the Additional Correspondence box get the CBC email yet? Anxiously awaiting

Got additional correspondence/accepted back around 10/20, still haven't gotten any CBC email. I wouldn't be nervous about that.

keeping my fingers crossed. I don't know why the status page needs time to update, but I think this happened in last year's cycle as well

How long after your status was updated did you get your acceptance in the mail?

I'm at the Urbana campus, and I love it. The classes are well taught, and the administration is amazingly supportive. Can't speak for the Chicago campus (and Urbana won't be an option for you guys) but I can't imagine it's too different anywhere else.

If you don't mind me asking, what made you choose Urbana for placement? Thank you!

Family reasons! I'm from Champaign, and my family/friends are here. I didn't want to leave them to go to Chicago. I don't regret it at all!

Are people from October and November still waiting on status updates since the Thursday adcom meeting? I still have nothing 🙁

People that have interviewed already, do they email you with details about the interview (where to go, when to get there, where to park, etc.)? I have my interview next week and I have not heard anything from them yet. If not, I'll just call them

Just checked: they emailed me 5 days before my scheduled interview with information about location and parking. The message also included this link that had more location-specific details. Good luck!
